Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The guides

*thud*

Esther tried to reach out for her hair, but it was nowhere to be found. "Sarakiel! You didn't tell me that they cut your hair!" She lashed out, her long hair reminded her of her mother, but now it was gone.

She had been growing it out for the past 500 years, but it was all for naught in the end. "Please don't be angry I never saw you angry I never actually saw the trial I just heard about it! And in my opinion, the fact that executioner angels get casted down and they don't get executed is a topic that would excel in gossip, don't know if the fact that their hair gets cut off is a fun topic to gossip about." She replied kind of as scared at first, but replied sassily, that was just her personality.

"Huh, so are we in the human realm?" Sarakiel asked, Esther turned her head to look around, it didn't seem like the human realm, more like… a dream realm.

The place seemed ethereal and childish, there were clouds everywhere and what seemed like a house far away… "A house?!" Esther exclaimed, "also, no I don't think we are in the human realm. Maybe we can find some answers in that house over there!" She pointed to the small faraway building.

"B- But that's so far…" Sarakiel sighed, she took out her wings as if she were going to fly, only for it to be in vain. "Hey Sarakiel, your wings are grey!" Esther shouted in astonishment, she had never seen wings of this color, "wait a minute… does this mean… we… have to…" she paused for a moment processing the meaning of that, "WALK?!"

"Oh… no can do, youngsters." A sweet elderly voice was heard. Esther had the custom of grabbing her weapon yet felt weird without it. "Oh youngsters, do not fret, I am Illia, I am a guide, and I was created to guide you on your remaining time on Earth."

"Earth? Is that the name of the human realm?" Sarakiel asked the obvious, "no shit sherlock." Esther responded, she was used to this. "Of course darling, humans don't call Earth the Human realm, such as how Angels don't call Eden the Angelic Realm. So try to use the right terms so that your remaining stay on Earth is comfortable." Her words seemed passive aggressive, as if subtly scolding Sarakiel while also being gentle.

"Now then, why don't you come and have a cup of tea? You must try the delicacies on Earth, they are much better than the repetitive stuff you find in Eden." Illia welcomed them, as the house seemed to be closer… No, they were getting closer to the house.

"I share this humble abode with my precious daughter, although I must warn you, she calls me grandma due to our difference in age." She laughed the comment off, Esther wondered how old old she was, her gray hair was slowly turning into white, as she looked like a human of 65 years.

"If you look like that, I wonder how your daughter looks!" Sarakiel remarked, Illia just laughed it off, "Oh dear, this is called aging. Angels don't have that, but us guides and humans do. She looks as young as you do. In fact, she will guide you through the human realm.

Well actually, this is her first time after all the theoretics and studying she did, so you are in good hands rest assured." She talked as they walked, Sarakiel didn't seem to complain at all while she was talking. "So wait, aging also happens after the nursery stage?" Sarakiel asked, she seemed genuinely interested, Esther guessed that is why she loves her. "Hey Esther, you zoned out for a bit! So as I was saying, don't you also find it strange how they also age even after the nursery stage? Wait no… they don't even have a nursery stage!"

"Please enjoy this tea brewed with lavenders, this is a nice delicacy from Earth." She paused for a bit, "Lila! Get downstairs at once! We have guests!" A second later a young girl who looked like 16 came down the stairs, Esther assumed that this girl was Lila, Illia's daughter. She had light brown hair and had a very rich style of dressing.

"What are you staring at me for?" She asked angrily, she seemed to be in a very bad mood. "Missy! Be nicer to our guests. You will be the one guiding them this time!" As soon as Illia said that, Lila's eyes shone. "Oh my Hope! Are you serious Grandma?" She seemed very excited all of a sudden.

"Ah yes, she spoke very highly of you, you know?" Esther smiled, "claimed that we were in the best hands." She continued sipping tea, she noticed the absence of a certain voice, Sarakiel seemed too focused on the tea. She had only ever seen the food and drinks from Eden, and never delicacies from Earth.

"Oh my Hope this is actually so good!" Sarakiel continued to drink her tea, she absolutely abolished her drink, and no that was not an exaggeration.

"Well then, I guess I better explain. I will be your guide for a bit to make sure you can integrate into society for your final years."

"Why are you both talking as if we will be dead in a few years?" As soon as Sarakiel asked, the whole room fell flat silent. "Oh! You two don't know? Because you don't have enough divinity to support your immortality, you will age like a normal human."

Sarakiel almost dropped her tea listening to the statement made by Lila, her shocked face revealed everything she was thinking about.

"What do you mean I'll age like a normal human…?" She seemed too heartbroken to continue on.
