Zi Ning sat in her apartment, staring at the files on her laptop. The USB drive had given her more than she expected—emails, financial records, and secret transactions that exposed Guo Bao's backer. But the most chilling part was the single letter at the end of each message: H.
Who was H?
Zi Ning's mind raced with possibilities. This person wasn't just rich; they had power, influence, and the ability to manipulate the media. Someone like that wasn't easy to deal with.
She leaned back in her chair, taking a deep breath. She had fought many battles, but this was different. Her enemy wasn't just Guo Bao—it was someone hidden in the shadows, someone who wanted her destroyed at all costs.
Her phone vibrated. It was Fang Min.
"Zi Ning, did you hear? Wang Yin's father resigned from his position today."
Zi Ning's eyes widened. "What?"
"It's all over the news. The Wang family is in trouble. There are reports that they were involved in illegal business deals. The stock price of their company has already dropped."
Zi Ning smirked. "Looks like karma is catching up to them."
Fang Min hesitated. "Maybe. But I think this is connected to your situation."
Zi Ning's fingers tightened around her phone. "What do you mean?"
"The timing is too perfect. First, Guo Bao disappears. Then, we get a lead on his backer. And now, Wang Yin's family is suddenly facing problems?" Fang Min's voice lowered. "Someone is cleaning up their tracks."
Zi Ning's heart pounded. If Fang Min was right, then whoever was behind Guo Bao and Wang Yin was now trying to erase any connections to them.
"Do you think H is part of the Wang family?" Zi Ning asked.
Fang Min sighed. "It's possible. But if that's the case, it means they're more powerful than we thought."
Zi Ning glanced at her laptop. "I have proof that someone was controlling Guo Bao. But I still don't know who H is."
"Send me everything you have," Fang Min said. "I'll have my team analyze it."
Zi Ning quickly copied the files and sent them to Fang Min.
"I'll call you when I find something," Fang Min said before hanging up.
Zi Ning exhaled slowly. She had made her move. Now, she had to wait.
The next morning, Zi Ning's phone rang again. This time, it was an unknown number.
She answered. "Who is this?"
A low, amused voice came through the line. "Miss Zi, you're quite impressive."
Zi Ning's grip on the phone tightened. "And you are?"

The man chuckled. "You've been looking for me, haven't you?"
Zi Ning's breath caught in her throat. H.
She forced herself to stay calm. "So you finally decided to show yourself."
"I figured it was time we had a proper conversation," H said. "After all, you're getting too close to the truth."
Zi Ning's eyes darkened. "You tried to destroy me. Did you really think I wouldn't fight back?"
H laughed softly. "I admire your courage. But courage alone won't be enough to defeat me."
Zi Ning smirked. "You sound scared."
The amusement in H's voice disappeared. "Let's just say I don't like loose ends. And right now, you're becoming a problem."
Zi Ning's heart pounded, but she refused to show fear. "Then come at me. Let's see if you can really take me down."
There was silence on the other end of the line. Then, H spoke again.
"I underestimated you, Zi Ning. But it won't happen again."
The call ended.
Zi Ning stared at her phone, her blood boiling. This was no longer just about revenge.
It was war.
Later that day, Fang Min called back.
"Zi Ning, I found something."
Zi Ning sat up. "What is it?"
"One of the email accounts connected to H is registered under the Wang family's company," Fang Min said. "But here's the interesting part—Wang Yin's father doesn't have access to this account."
Zi Ning frowned. "Then who does?"
Fang Min hesitated. "Wang Yin's older brother—Wang Hao."
Zi Ning's eyes widened. Wang Hao? She had barely interacted with him. He was known as a successful businessman, but he mostly stayed out of scandals.
"I thought Wang Hao didn't care about Wang Yin's problems," Zi Ning said.
Fang Min sighed. "That's what everyone thought. But I did some digging. Wang Hao has always protected Wang Yin from the shadows. Whenever she got into trouble, he was the one who cleaned it up."
Zi Ning clenched her fists. "So he was behind everything?"
"It looks like it. He funded Guo Bao's smear campaign against you. He bribed reporters, manipulated the media, and made sure Wang Yin's reputation stayed clean."
Zi Ning's jaw tightened. "And now that Wang Yin's father is in trouble, Wang Hao is probably trying to cut ties and protect himself."
Fang Min agreed. "Exactly. But here's the problem—Wang Hao isn't like Guo Bao. He's smart, careful, and powerful. If you go after him, he won't just attack you directly. He'll make sure you don't even see it coming."
Zi Ning took a deep breath. "Then I'll have to be one step ahead of him."
Fang Min hesitated. "Zi Ning, are you sure about this? Wang Hao isn't someone you can take down easily."
Zi Ning's eyes turned cold. "I don't care how powerful he is. He came after me first. Now, I'm going to make him pay."
Fang Min sighed. "Alright. Then let's do this right. I'll gather more evidence. You focus on staying safe."
Zi Ning nodded. "I will."
As she ended the call, she looked out the window. The city lights flickered in the distance, but she wasn't admiring the view.
Wang Hao thought he could hide in the shadows.
But soon, she would drag him into the light.
And when she did, there would be no escape.
