"Are you sure it's coming our, even with his level of skill it's impossible to detect humans from such a distance" Kurt expressed his doubts with a calm expression.
Even in this situation this guy doesn't show any reactions"I don't know but it's moving towards us that is for sure."
"Then, there is still hope because if it targets us nothing in this forest would've been able to save us" Kurt was calmly analyzing the situation when it hit him "It's the smell, the smell of the Greywolf's meat it's the Dark Elf's favorite, it could smell it even from a mile away."
Where did he learn such stuff, it's not something that I found about the Greywolf Or the Dark Elf in the Academy database but that discussion will have to wait till we get the Dark Elf off our trail.
"So, what are we waiting for let's get going" with the Dark Elf's speed he will be here in mere minutes.
"Let's take out the meat we have and leave it here, if the Dark Elf doesn't find anything it will search for new prey." Following Kurt's reasoning they took out all the meat except abit for themselves.
"Let's move on quickly, the Dark Elf is way too smart to not understand that it was a human who killed the Greywolf, he might think of coming after us." and with those words it was solidifed that going in the inner regions of the forest was the better option because for some reason the Dark Elf was avoiding it.
Spade and Kurt were still tired from the fight with the Greywolf but when it came to survival everyone had some fuel left in them. While Spade was checking the way upahead with his skill [Perception] since he lacked the soul energy to spend on [Twilight Sense].
And up ahead final came a dead end, up ahead on their way stood 3 Gnolls, they were Mid D rank monsters and even one of them was good enough to kill Kurt and Spade before they realized what had happened.
'What to do?' it's the least difficult path but we can't even manage this, it's alot above our level of strength. He looked towards Kurt wishing to ask for his opinion when he sensed something else upahead and stopped instantly.
Seeing him Kurt also stopped and looked towards him asking for an explanation to which Spade said in a abit hesitant tone "The Gnolls, they are dead."
To which Kurt asked in his usual calm tone "Are you sure?"
"I'm" Spade was completely sure of it that they were dead but what could kill them in an instant a Mid C rank or, Spade activated his Twilight sense with whatever soul energy he had left and what he sensed made him take a sigh of relief.
"It's a human, a 3-Star or above at least, we are saved" Kurt couldn't see Spade's face but he knew that he was relieved and Kurt felt the same way. People couldn't tell what Kurt was thinking due to his concealment ability it also helped him hide his thoughts and expressions but under all that he was still human.
"What are we waiting for?, let's get going" Spade also agreed with Kurt's line of thinking and accelrated towards the location of the Gnolls at full speed.
In front of them, in a small clearing a man of with a mas slicing open the Gnolls bodies and taking out Soul Crystals. On a closer look Spade recognized this figure, he was Sir Gale, one of the few 3-Stars stationed at the Nabard fort. He was popular for his overwhelming strength even amongst the 3-Stars and was among a few Stars who preferred to work alone.
"He has already noticed us, but why isn't he doing anything" Spade was puzzled by the 3-Star's strange behavior.
"Considering it's already been more than a day since we arrived in this forest it's likely he knows of who we are" Kurt's reasoning was logical as always.
"Should we greet him then" Spade was not very well with strangers and from his interaction with Kurt, he presumed that the other person was as bad as he was.
"Go ahead" Kurt placed all the responsibilities on Spade.
'So troublesome... ' Walking up to Gale Spade said in a calm tone "Hello sir, I'm Spade a One Star of the latest batch of Academy graduates. Me and my batchmate, we were on our way to Nabard fort through the portal when a malfunction occured and got sended near the shore yesterday and we had somehow survived the forest and got here in hopes of finding someone who could take us to the fort."
Behind Spade Kurt was looking at him with a nonchalant expression but Spade knew that he was enjoying while seeing Spade suffer.
Getting up Gale looked at Spade and then at Kurt and said "I'll take you two with me but I cannot guarantee that you will survive the troubles in the central regions of the forest."
His words were as dry as his face and his expression 'Why am I surrounded by people with weird personalities' "No need to trouble yourself sir, My batchmate over there has exceptional concealment abilities and I myself have an ability which allows me to sense dangers ahead to pick a safe route."
To which the 3-Star replied "Do you think your senses are better than mine and that kid's concealment can fool those C rank monsters. Don't overestimate yourself do as I tell you and you might've a chance to reach the fort."
Spade didn't like the Gale's attitude towards them but he wasn't someone who didn't know how to control themselves, right now Gale was the best option they had. Taking a look at Kurt Spade realized that he also felt the same way "We're fine with that sir."
"Good then, let's get going before the other monster's come here from the scent" and with those words led by a 3-Star Kurt and Spade continued their journey to reach the Nabard Fort.
