A type of beauty that was so ridiculous that it could cause a calamity!
This was no exaggeration at this moment as Nurses and Doctors alike were stopped in their tracks, and it was only after they saw Achilles going beside the bed and holding onto Rose's hand that they came out of their stupor.
Dr. Hendricks and the Nurses approached the bed as they checked on multiple things.
After a few seconds, the Healer nodded as if she had finished a measurement and turned to Achilles.
"The treatment was successful as the poison was not something too high level. There should not be any residual effects remaining in her body. As for all the medicine that she was pumped with- she will likely be twice as strong as any normal Human for the next few months, at least. She should be waking up at any time as her body and mind will acclimate. And I don't know if you realized it, but your eyes have been releasing a terrifying purple light this whole time. You will scare her if she wakes up to that. You can relax now, she'll be okay…"
…!
It was only now that Achilles realized his heart was beating fast as he touched the side of his eyes to feel the luminescence of purple brilliance that had its source as the Evolutius Crystals he assimilated.
He controlled himself as the purple brilliance gradually died down, and he looked seriously at the golden-haired Healer.
"Thank you."
Two words.
But they were heartfelt as they came from the bottom of his heart.
The golden-haired Healer nodded with a smile as she waved her hands towards Nurses and Doctors within the room, taking one last glance at Rose before she stepped out!
"We will just keep monitoring the Vitals for now. There's nothing else you all can do, so simply give the patient and the guardian their space."
After confirming a few more things, Dr. Hendricks waved the nurses and her father out as the room gradually began to clear.
As he left, the Managing Director, Dr. Nigel, turned towards Achilles with a smile.
"It was a pleasure to aid in the process of helping your family member. The Brightborn Hospital works closely with many Advanced Humans, so-"
"Father, get out and give them their space!"
A sharp rebuke came from Dr. Hendricks as he coughed and nodded before his cane tapped the floor and left.
Dr. Hendricks was the last to leave as she sighed, looking into the well-lit room where a young man held the hand of a young woman who would likely wake soon.
She didn't know.
She did not know that this moment she contributed to bringing to fruition…truly was the origin point of a calamity!
A calamity that would envelop all of the Colony City of Neon and make way for something unimaginable.
But at this point in time, it was just a young man and a young woman inside a hospital room.
A door closed, and a silence came.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
A small beeping sound rang out every now and then, but its frequency actually caused Achilles to ease his heart as he looked at Rose.
Her history was even more tragic than him.
She lost her own parents a few years before Achilles in another Leyline Fracture- a similar theme for how many normal humans lost their lives within Colony Cities.
But she didn't let this overwhelm her, and she worked hard to provide for herself.
Achilles' Mom and Rose worked in the same General Hospital just a few dozen miles away from here, and his Mom saw how difficult Rose had it all alone as she began inviting her to their place after work just to eat together and be with other people.
She was hesitant at first, but his Mom's infectious personality won her over.
Her visits became more frequent. Her smile gradually returned.
Achilles got to know her from then.
And there were 2 years of such peace.
And then another Leyline Fracture. Achilles' parents died, and he found himself alone.
At that point in time, Rose looked at him as a barely grown kid, and she seemed to see herself in him!
She didn't want him to go through the same loneliness that she went through, so she took him to live with her.
She helped him. He helped her. And they lived their lives working odd jobs in a world filled with monsters and terrifying Advanced Humans who made more in a minute than they both made in a year.
They had their own little world, until it was disrupted with yet another Catacomb Leyline Fracture!
From this, he nearly lost her too. The risk of losing her would have destroyed him as to save her, he entered the Evolutius Catacombs as a normal Human with a nearly guaranteed chance of death.
The risk had paid off, and here he was.
"Rose."
He called out her name.
She had her eyes closed as if in a deep sleep this whole time and Achilles' voice caused her to frown as she actually grabbed the bed for sheets that she covered her head with, and she turned to the side!
…!
An action that caused him to get up in alarm as he called out again.
"Rose!"
His voice was loud this time as after it rang out, the figure covering her ears with a sheet sat up while rubbing her eyes and grumbling.
"Bah, Little Fatty, why are you screaming so early…"
Her voice trailed off.
She blinked.
She brought her hands down as if she finally remembered something, and she stood up on the hospital bed as she yelled out.
"Little Fatty, there were monsters! There were…uhh???"
Her voice stopped again as she looked around.
She saw the hospital room.
The IV tubes still attached to her hands.
The hospital gown she wore.
She blinked again as she looked to the side of the bed where she saw Achilles who was smiling with watery eyes!
She saw his figure in a suit they should never be able to afford as she bent down towards him and whispered while looking around cautiously.
"Little Fatty, are we dead?"
