Chapter 1 - The encounter

Walking out alive from a gang rivalry shoot out under the blazing hot sun was a sharp pain to Nick's chest.

"ahhh" he shouted in pain as he gasped for breath holding on to he's fellow gang members with a blurry vision, he collapsed to the ground

seeing this, in commotion Nick was rushed to the hospital with fear in each of there eyes, getting to the hospital the gang members awaited the news from the doctor for a feedback on his condition for an hour

After the long wait one of Nick's close friend Adam headed to the team of doctors with a blazing face of anger and irritation like that of a solider going for war.

"What the fuck are you doctors doing, i and my niggas have being waiting here for the passed one hour for the feedback of the condition of my friend Nick " He shouted using gang slangs and gestures.

The doctor, taken aback by Adam's aggressive tone, stood firm and replied, "I understand your concern, but we need to run some tests to determine the extent of Nick's injuries. Gunshot wounds can be complex, and we want to make sure we provide the best possible care."

Adam's face turned redder with rage, but before he could respond, one of the nurses intervened, "Adam, please, let us do our job. We're doing everything we can to help Nick. Why don't you and your friends wait in the waiting room, and we'll update you as soon as we have any news?"

Adam's glare lingered, but he eventually backed down, nodding curtly before storming off to join the others. The tension in the air was palpable as the gang members waited anxiously for any update on Nick's condition.

Meanwhile, in the ICU, Nick lay motionless, his chest wrapped in bandages, his face pale and clammy. The beeping of the monitors and the soft hiss of the oxygen tank were the only sounds breaking the silence.

Suddenly, Nick's eyes flickered open, and he gazed up at the ceiling, his vision blurry. He tried to speak, but his voice was barely a whisper. The nurse standing beside him leaned in, "Nick, can you hear me? Don't try to talk, just nod if you can understand me."

Nick nodded weakly, his eyes scanning the room, searching for any familiar faces. The nurse smiled reassuringly, "You're safe, Nick. You're in the hospital. Your friends are waiting for you outside."

Nick's gaze lingered on the nurse before drifting off into the darkness, his chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. The nurse's expression turned somber, and she whispered to herself, "Please, Nick, hang in there. We need you to pull through."
