Chapter 2 - Apology

APOLOGYMom drives me to school the next morning and it's annoying how she keeps asking me to tell her what happened, of course from the picture he had painted of himself by coming to visit my mother would be more believable than what a fourteen year old has to say about such a religious man, I can't seem to get his face out of my mind the whole drive to school, how he sat in our living room looking holier than thou when he just tried to molest me a few hours ago. Lost in my thoughts, I barely realize that I'm already at school , I jump out of the car reassuring my mom that I'm ok. When I'm a few feet away from the parking lot I hear Dlamini's voice calling out to me at a distance, I can't see him anywhere because it was quite a foggy day. I then felt a hand gently fall onto my shoulder making me turn around to find Dlamini standing in front of me, "Hi" he says in low tone and before I am able to respond he interrupts me, "I'm sorry about yesterday, I was a jerk and I didn't mean to upset you I hope you forgive me" I barely hear a word he said because I had zoned out thinking about what would have happened to me yesterday. "Are you ok?" he asks looking quite concerned, "I'm fine" I say defensively, he just stands there staring at me looking worried, " Look, I'm the only boy in a family of eight, I know that when you girls say you are fine especially in that tone it means you are totally not okay" he says in the sweetest tone ever and it makes me give in and I explain what happened yesterday and his look after I explained made me laugh my lungs out, he looked like an upset big baby. "What is wrong with you?" he says laughing along with me, "Did you tell your mom though?" he asked looking serious again, "I can't, well not now" and all he does is nod to my response and we stand in silence till we hear the school bell.******Being a freshman at St. Stephenson high isn't as bad as it is at other schools, here everyone minds their own business unlike at my old school but the senior boys have a cocky attitude towards the freshmen but they never really messed with people in the top classes so Dlamini and I were safe. I wasn't the best student in my class but I tried my best. All I focused on was getting through to the next grade not toping my class. We sat in class during our self-study period even though some took the assignment too serious and went to study each other naked, I was alone the whole period and I noticed Dlamini shooting short glances at me every now and then. The first period elapsed and I had barely opened my mouth. Ms. Seville, our class teacher then walked in with three students who looked like they were foreigners because of their general appearance. There were two girls and a shorter boy, he kind of looked like he was supposed be in elementary school. Then there was a tall one who looked like a netball player and then there was one with medium height, for some reason the last girl seemed interesting , she was just so adorable with her extremely long hair that she had tied into a pony tail and she had these pretty brown eyes. Well, I didn't expect her to sit next to me but she gives me a warm smile as she sits down next to me. *******I slowly walk out of the school gate looking around to make sure that man isn't anywhere near. I then feel a small hand grab mine, I jump in freight and I look at this short figure stand before, she is tall but not when next to me. It's my desk mate, "Hi, I have been calling out to you since we left class, are you okay?" she says looking concerned like she had known me for a long time and I look at her not knowing to say when I finally manage get some words out, "I just have a lot on my mind" I say letting out a sigh, "I'm Kayla by the way" she says giving me a friendly smile and I'm mesmerized by the perfect set of teeth she has and they are as white as a pearl, "I'm Azariah" I say and she begins to talk but all I give as a response to most of her statements is a nod, "You don't talk much huh?" she says trying not to laugh, "Yeah I guess, I don't really like talking as much" I say when a bus comes, "Well I'm off, you better start talking tomorrow" she says as she goes on first and in a few minutes my ride comes by.
