Then Gogo stands up and says,
"Excuse me, I need to go to the washroom urgently."
(Then Gogo leaves for the washroom.)
(Sara and Rehan are sitting alone.)
(Rehan keeps looking at Sara while she eats her dessert. His heart was pounding—after all these years, he was finally going to confess. He kept thinking, I will say it now, but he couldn't gather the courage. Finally, he called her name.)
Rehan says,
"Sara, listen..."
Sara says,
"Yes, tell me, Rehan."
Rehan slowly says,
"Sara, I love you."
(But just then, Sara's phone rings, and she answers it.)
(While talking on the phone, Rehan listens.)
Sara says on the phone,
"Yes, I'm coming. I'm with my friends; we met after a long time, so I'm spending some time with them. Pick me up at the restaurant near the station in the evening."
(Then Sara hangs up the phone.)
Rehan says,
"Sara, who was on the phone? And who are you asking to come?"
Sara says,
"Oh, that was my husband. He was asking where I was."
(At that moment, Gogo was approaching them but stopped after hearing this and stayed at a distance, listening.)
(Rehan felt like these words hit him like a wave. It felt as if his entire world had collapsed in an instant. The love he had cherished for so long, the hope he had kept in his heart, all turned to dust in a moment. That was my husband—those words struck him like lightning. For a moment, he couldn't say anything; everything around him seemed to go silent. But inside, a heavy pain settled in his chest. He had imagined meeting her again so many times—thinking they would laugh, talk, and maybe relive old feelings. But he had never thought this meeting would turn into the most painful moment of his life. Rehan was struggling internally but tried to stay calm on the outside. He knew he had no right to show his pain because she now belonged to someone else. His throat went dry, but he still asked in a normal tone.)
Rehan says,
"Sara, when did you get married, and how did it happen?"
Sara says,
"I told you, my dad had a job transfer, so we had to move. A few months later, a Shadow Beast attacked his office, and he died there. Since my dad was the only earning member of our family, we fell into hardship. I had a younger brother and sister. My mom started a part-time job, but she couldn't support the whole family alone. So, for my family, I intentionally made a rich guy fall in love with me and married him.
But he turned out to be a very good person. Even after marriage, he gave me the chance to continue my studies and helped me stand on my own feet. Now I have a job only because of him. And I have a daughter too. She looks exactly like her dad. Here, look."
(Rehan looked at the picture and, trying to act normal, said,)
"Your daughter is very beautiful, just like you."
(Rehan was holding back his emotions, trying hard not to let his eyes tear up.)
