Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Quiet Times

There was A slight awkward silence filled the air before she spoke. "It's a pleasure to talk to you, Lord Lightsekker." I blushed slightly at her voice; it was melodic and rich. I responded, "Call me Aelthas, my lady, when we are alone," and I winked. She blushed slightly, bringing a hand to her lips and giggling. "You're such a flirt, Aelthas." I smirked, "But of course, when I'm in the presence of a gorgeous lady." She blushed more, and I chuckled; she was adorable. She pouted, and I burst out laughing. It was incredible. I was usually composed, but she and Leona have made me laugh so much, and I barely know them. We talked for a while before a servant informed us that the royal banquet would begin in an hour. I was led to my assigned chambers, took a bath, and was given clothes to wear; they were robes, which were gold and black. I left my bow and quiver in my room and headed to the banquet. I was followed by Dion, who wore a fancy tunic and trousers. As we entered, I was escorted to sit next to the king and his daughter. She blushed slightly, and I smirked.

The banquet began as the people talked and enjoyed their time; I and the prince flirted secretly. I noticed Leona and the prince talking, with Leona blushing and giggling. I smiled slightly; I'm glad she is happy. The banquet was going quietly until the king struck his glass, and the room quieted immediately. He stood up and began to speak, "My people, first I would like to welcome Princess Leona Evangelion to our home." There was a thundering applause. Next, after careful consideration, I have decided to betroth my daughter to-he paused, and my heart started to ache. He continued, "Lord Aelthas Lightseeker." I blinked and looked at the king in disbelief; he only winked. I turned to her reaction; she was trying to hide a smile, but it didn't work. I smiled back at her. After the banquet, I retired to my chambers and was looking out from the balcony as the moon above Old Grove rose to its highest point. I went to sleep. For the next few days, it was quiet. Me and GaladrieL have been spending a lot of time together, talking and walking around the castle grounds. We had so many things in common. I told her about the battle with the Skeleton Commander, and she started teaching me about politics and manners. It was not easy to get used to, but I persevered.

It was on one quiet morning that it happened. An army of ten thousand skeletons was seen on the borders of the Old Grove and Dawnshire. I was deployed and given Lightseeker family armor. It was mainly gold with a red cape and a golden helm that covered my whole face. I was helped to put it on before strapping on my bow and taking the hammer I had been practicing with. I was given armor for Nightstrider , which was gold, just like my armor.

As I was mounting Nightstrider, GaladrieL stopped me. She took off my helm, looked into my eyes, and said in a sickly sweet tone, "You better come back to me, Aelthas, or I will revive you and kill you myself." I nodded quickly , "Yes, dear." She smiled, leaned up , and kissed me. I kissed back, and we stayed kissing for a while before she broke it, smiled at me, and put my helm back on my head. I smiled one final time before mounting Nightstrider.

Me, Aegor, Dion, and the Elf General, along with five thousand elf warriors, rode out. We would be met by the Dawnshire army , which numbered six thousand and two thousand dwarfs. We rode for hours until we arrived at the border, which was the spot where we first fought the Skeleton Commander. We were met by the humans and dwarfs. The human commander, whose name was Agnar Magnusson, was tall, around 6'8", with a great black beard and long black hair. His eyes were bright blue. He was wearing full plate armor, and a fur cape on his back held a massive two-handed axe with a spear tip; it was more of a halberd. For the next few days, it was quiet. Agnar turned toward the voice, and I looked in that direction as well. It was a dwarf; he was jogging over, wearing full plate armor with a helm that had two horns. He was brandishing an axe. Agnar laughed and crouched to greet the dwarf. They talked with great enthusiasm to each other. After that was done, we prepared for battle. We rode out to meet the army of skeletons. I was nervous.
