Dazai: "Grandfather, can you tell me about our family's lineage? I'd like to know more about us Carnage."
-Ryuko hummed thoughtfully, stroking his beard before turning his sharp golden gaze toward Dazai-
Ryuko: "I believe your father still keeps the family records in the library. If you're that interested, you'll find what you're looking for there… But why the sudden curiosity?"
-Dazai waved a hand dismissively, chuckling lightly-
Dazai: "No real reason. I just want to know more about the family while I still can, that's all, Grandfather."
-Ryuko observed him for a moment before nodding with a knowing chuckle. With a simple gesture, he called for a nearby maid-
Ryuko: "Take Dazai to the library. It seems the boy wishes to know his history–for the sake of his future."
-The maid bowed gracefully before turning to Dazai and gesturing toward the corridor-
Maid: "This way, Young Lord."
-Dazai gave Ryuko a respectful bow before following the maid through the grand hallways of the estate. Soon, they arrived at a massive room, its towering walls lined with countless books. The scent of old parchment and polished wood filled the air, giving the place a timeless, almost sacred atmosphere-
-The maid turned to him with a small bow-
Maid: "I shall take my leave, Young Lord. Should you require anything, I will be at your beck and call."
-With that, she exited the room, leaving Dazai alone. He slowly walked toward the center of the vast library, his eyes scanning the shelves before stopping at a particular book. Unlike the others, this one was adorned with intricate golden patterns, faintly pulsing with a crimson glow-
Dazai: "...This is way too obvious. But, well… otherworldly plots and all that."
-With an amused smirk, he reached for the book. The moment his fingers touched the cover, a sudden gust of wind swirled around him as if the book itself had been waiting for his touch-
Dazai: "Recognition, huh? I'm guessing if anyone other than a Carnage tried to open this, they'd be in for a nasty surprise… Hmm, seems like I can understand the language of this world naturally. Makes sense, considering I can speak with dear Mother and Grandfather just fine."
-With a deep breath, he carefully flipped open the book and began reading-
Dazai: "The Carnage family… started as a lineage of medics? Healers, doctors… huh. I see, so we aided the kingdom for generations. But–"
-His eyes narrowed as he read further, a quiet chuckle escaping his lips-
Dazai: "Also assassins of great renown… executing those who threatened the kingdom by any means necessary. Even nobles weren't spared. Interesting… and here it is–the training methods for the Carnage techniques."
-He continued flipping through the pages, but soon, he noticed something–several pages had been torn out-
Dazai: "Missing pages… but why—"
-His attention was drawn to a loose piece of paper sticking out from between the pages. Curious, he pulled it free and read the message scrawled across it-
"Whoever is reading this—and by 'whoever,' I mean one of my children at least… Sorry, but you don't need to follow the path of an assassin. After all, I'm the greatest one to have ever lived. —Your Father."
-Dazai let out a long sigh, shaking his head in amusement-
Dazai: "Ryomen Carnage… my father. So, he just decided to cut off the assassin legacy, huh?"
-He continued reading, his eyes scanning over the next passage-
Dazai: "It says he once destroyed an entire enemy kingdom… for the prince who is now the current king. And that was twenty years ago…"
-He leaned back slightly, processing the information-
Dazai: "So, if he accomplished something like that, he must have made a deal with the former king. Ensuring his children wouldn't have to follow in his footsteps… or maybe he just wanted to keep bragging rights."
-Closing the book, Dazai exhaled deeply, his gaze drifting toward the ceiling as he pieced everything together-
Dazai: "Hmm… Alright. That's good enough information for now. I've memorized the techniques written here, but I'll need to strengthen my body first. I look twelve instead of fourteen, so I need to work on that."
-His gaze flickered to the surrounding shelves, a smirk playing on his lips-
Dazai: "I might as well read the rest of these while I'm at it. After all… information is the greatest ally, isn't it?"
-A quiet chuckle left his lips, his sea-blue eyes gleaming with excitement and thrill-
Dazai: "Unveiling the curtains of time… Ah, how beautiful it is."
