Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - A Dangerous Confrontation

Beth hesitated, her confidence faltering as she registered the shift in Wyatt. This wasn't just anger. It was something colder, sharper—deadly. He wasn't just fighting for himself anymore. He was fighting for his kids. For their survival.

"You think it's that simple?" she spat, her eyes darting toward the door, calculating her escape. "Your ring might've broken the curse, but your children? They're in more danger now than ever. You think the demons will just let them go because you suddenly remember who you are? They're not just your kids, Wyatt. They're power. Bloodline. And once that power is awakened—"

Wyatt's jaw clenched, his entire body coiled like a spring. He didn't blink. Didn't breathe. Just waited.

Beth swallowed, but forced a smirk. "They'll be unstoppable," she finished, her voice shaky, her bravado cracking. "They're going to be good hunters, just like you. And that makes them a problem. A problem the demons won't ignore. Back when you were cursed, they were safe. You were distracted, lost in your pathetic attempt at a normal life. But now? The second they start training, the moment they realize what they're capable of—"

"—the demons will come for them." Wyatt's voice was a low growl, sharp as a blade.

Beth nodded, smug. "Exactly. You just painted a target on their backs."

Fear clawed at Wyatt's chest, but beneath it was something stronger. A fire that had been reignited. A hunter's instinct he'd long buried. His kids were in danger because of him? Fine. But now, he was going to make damn sure they were ready.

"They'll be more than prepared," he said, his voice like steel. "I won't let them be blindsided like I was. They'll know the truth. They'll know how to fight."

Beth tilted her head, mock sympathy dripping from her words. "You think you can get them ready in time? They're just kids, Wyatt. And we're not going to wait."

Wyatt's lips curled into something almost amused. "That's your mistake. You think they're weak because they're young. They've got my bloodline, my strength. Helena's power. When the time comes, they'll be more than ready."

Beth's smirk faltered. A flicker of doubt crossed her face. Wyatt wasn't the same broken man she once manipulated. He wasn't lost anymore. He was the hunter again. And that terrified her.

"You can't stop what's coming," she hissed. "There's more at play than you realize."

Wyatt stepped forward, his presence suffocating. "Then tell me. Who's behind this? Who sent you?"

Beth hesitated. For the first time, her nerves showed. "Even if I told you, it wouldn't matter. They're already coming."

Wyatt leaned in, his voice cold as ice. "Tell me. Maybe I'll let you live long enough to watch me take them down."

Beth's lips parted, but no words came. He saw it—the flicker of fear. She had underestimated him. Underestimated what a father was willing to do.

Then, from the shadows, another voice—silky, venomous. "Oh, Wyatt. Still playing the hero?"

Britney stepped forward, her youthful face twisted with something cruel. For years, she had played innocent, hiding in plain sight. But now? The mask was off.

"I was going to destroy Anastasia," she purred. "I wanted her broken. I wanted Matt for myself. I made her doubt everything, made her hate herself so much she almost ended it all. But someone saved her. Pity."

Wyatt's stomach twisted. His daughter. Britney had sunk her claws into his daughter.

"Oh, and the baby?" Britney grinned. "Not real. Just another fun little game."

Wyatt's vision went red. His grip tightened on his gun, fury flooding his veins. "So you fucked with my family just for fun?"

Britney smirked. "More than just fun, Wyatt. It was a masterpiece."

He was done talking.

Beth and Britney moved first, crackling energy surging between them. Lightning shot toward him, a blinding force meant to tear him apart—

But before it could hit, two blurs shot past him.

Billy and Bastian. The angels slammed down in front of Wyatt, wings unfurling like shields, absorbing the attack in a burst of searing light. The room exploded into chaos.

Wyatt lunged at Beth, fists colliding with magic as she hurled spells with deadly precision. The house shook. Furniture shattered. Walls cracked. This wasn't a fight—it was a war.

Billy and Bastian took on Britney, the air thick with the clash of supernatural power. Britney was stronger than they expected, her attacks relentless, but the angels weren't backing down.

Then—Beth made a mistake.

Her heel snagged on a broken floorboard. A fraction of a second. But that's all Wyatt needed.

He raised his gun, blue UV bullets locked and ready. He didn't hesitate. Didn't flinch.

He pulled the trigger.

The bullet hit Beth dead center in the forehead. Her eyes widened. A choked sound left her lips. And then—

She began to disintegrate.

Ash. Nothing but ash.

Wyatt lowered the gun, breath ragged. One down.
