Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Change In The Story

Opening his eye, and waking up from his sleep, the first thing Fate saw was Erza still sleeping. He slowly sneaked out of bed and began doing a small exercise. 'I can do this. I need to get stronger.' He said to myself as his current body was too weak, not to mention he rarely did any exercise before.

But Fate managed to push through thanks to [Self Deception]. He was able to finish it and his body is completely sore. [Self Deception] can only go as far as my body can keep up with his deceptive thoughts.

For example, if he thought he can one-shot everyone, then when he had to fight someone. Fate could somewhat hit them with the force to actually one-shot the person he is fighting. But his body will take the recoiled from throwing an attack like that, meaning he will just put his life up to gamble on whether or not he could survive the recoil.

'This is gonna take awhile.' He thought, crawling back to bed, out of breath. It was 5 AM, 1 hour till the guild opened. He gets one more hour of sleep. Fate closed my eye lying next to Erza, and continued to use [Self Deception], since this skill can be used not just for combat but also for self-improvement. 'My 1-hour rest will fully restore me like an 8-hour rest.'

After an hour of sleep, both Fate and Erza wake up.

"Good morning," Erza murmured, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she glanced at the white-haired boy beside her.

"Morning," Fate replied, his voice calm and even, as the two rose from the simple bed they'd shared. The redhead stretched, letting out a long yawn—the first decent sleep she'd had in days since escaping the Tower of Heaven.

They moved quietly through the small room, making their way to the restroom to freshen up. After washing away the grime of their past few days on the run, they stepped out into the warmth of the Fairy Tail guild hall.

Waiting for them, with his usual kind-hearted grin, stood Master Makarov. The old man raised a hand in greeting. "Hello, you two. How are you feeling this morning?"

His words were light, but Makarov's sharp eyes missed nothing. He'd seen many faces pass through Fairy Tail over the years—some bright with hope, others shadowed by hardship. But these two children were different. He could sense it.

Most guilds wouldn't hesitate to turn away a pair of lost, ragged kids like them. But Fairy Tail wasn't like other guilds. This was a place of second chances, a family that embraced the broken and the strong alike. Troubles from the past were left at the door, and what mattered most was the heart one carried moving forward.

Erza radiated potential—Makarov could feel the raw, untamed magical energy coursing through her, unusually strong for someone so young. But Fate was… peculiar. Unlike Erza, he didn't seem to emit any detectable magic, yet there was an unsettling aura about him, a subtle but undeniable sense of power lurking just beneath the surface.

What intrigued Makarov most, however, was how Erza clung to Fate's hand, refusing to let go since they'd arrived. The bond between them was obvious, but the boy… the boy was a puzzle. He moved through the guild as if he knew it intimately, like he'd walked these halls a thousand times, despite this being his first time in Magnolia. Even Erza, who clearly trusted him deeply, seemed unaware of how much he was hiding.

"We're doing better now, Master," Fate answered, flashing a smile that Makarov immediately recognized as a mask. It wasn't entirely fake, but it wasn't genuine either—a carefully constructed expression meant to put others at ease.

Makarov chose not to press, at least not yet. He'd seen enough wounded souls to know that some stories needed time to be told.

"I'm glad to hear it." Makarov's voice was gentle, his eyes soft with understanding. "You two hungry? Breakfast is on me."

Erza's eyes flicked to Fate, her expression wary. Trust didn't come easily after what they'd endured. But Fate nodded, his smile widening just enough to reassure her.

"Thank you for your kindness," he said, turning back to the old man before glancing at Erza. "It's okay. We can trust him."

At those words, Erza's shoulders relaxed. She gave a small nod, and together they followed Makarov to the bar, settling onto the stools. Makarov watched them closely, noting the subtle dynamics. Fate genuinely cared for Erza, that much was clear—but there was still an invisible barrier between them, a wall he wasn't ready to tear down just yet.

Yesterday, when they'd received their guild marks, Fate had quietly asked Makarov to help remove the magical cuffs from their wrists—a clear sign of their past enslavement. Most kids like that didn't trust other easily. Yet, for some reason, Fate trusted Makarov without hesitation.

And there was something else. Fate's familiarity with the guild, with Makarov himself, was unsettling. It felt personal, like Fate knew him on a deeper level, even though the old man was certain they'd never met.

"So," Makarov broke the silence, "what'll you two have to eat?"

Fate turned to Erza. "What do you want?"

She blinked at him, uncertainty flickering in her eyes. "I'll have whatever you're having," she replied, not knowing where to even begin with the menu.

Fate chuckled softly, looking down in thought. 'This world's food isn't like mine, he mused internally. But at least some things are familiar.'

"Let's have some fried rice," he decided.

Makarov grinned, signaling the barmaid to bring three plates. As he did, Fate's gaze drifted, his expression darkening slightly. Notifications flickered at the edge of his vision—persistent, invasive.

'Something's off,' he thought, narrowing his eye.

You have gained the attention of someone important. +206SP

'Who keeps thinking about me and giving me SP?'

When their meals arrived, Erza's eyes lit up. The sight of the steaming, fragrant fried rice made her mouth water, and she eagerly dug in. Makarov chuckled, watching her excitement.

But Fate… Fate stared at his plate with an empty expression, as if the food in front of him wasn't even real. His mind drifted back to instant ramen, greasy takeout, and nights spent not eating at all. It had been so long since he'd had a proper, home-cooked meal, the very idea felt foreign.

Then, without a word, Fate placed his hands together in a silent gesture of gratitude and closed his eye.

"Thank you for the meal," he whispered.

Makarov's heart warmed at the small act of table manners. Despite the boy's strangeness, his odd aura, and the secrets he clearly carried, he was still polite—a sign of the humanity that lingered beneath the surface.

As Fate began to eat, his thoughts wandered back to the notifications flickering in his vision.

'Start,' he commanded silently, pulling up the interface only he could see. 'I don't know who's doing this… but whoever you are, keep it up. You have my gratitude.'

Again Makarov felt a sense of worry seeing Fate stare off into nothingness. "Is something wrong Fate my boy?" Makarov decided to ask but Fate didn't respond only continuing eating like his body was on autopilot while his mind was somewhere else. Turning to the redhead, who was also worried for her friend, the old master decided to ask. "Is he usually like this?"

Erza takes a moment to think before nodding, as she realizes that sometimes Fate would be so lost in thought he lost all sense of awareness.

After having their meal, the two thank the old master before going to the quest board to look for a quest.

"How about this one?" Erza said holding up a quest with 2000 Jewels as its reward.

It wasn't much, but it was an E-rank mission, collecting herbs in the forest near the town. Fate knew Erza could have done a better job but she decided to take a lesser one so that they would stay together. Fate only nodded, knowing full well he was dragging Erza down a completely different path from the story.

How would this affect the story? What will happen to the others around her? How the story would be changed from this?

After some time, the two return giving the herbs to the one who hired them, the client was a doctor. Was first taken aback, seeing two kids who looked homeless standing at his front door, but upon seeing that they were from Fairy Tail, they had collected the herbs that he requested. Upon closer inspection, the doctor noticed the herbs they collected were all high quality, impressed by their work. The doctor handed them double rewards since it wasn't much only another 2000 Jewels, as the profit he could make with these high-quality herbs will be far greater than just 2000 Jewels.

As the two just walk off holding their reward Jewels.

"This went better than I thought." Erza said turning to Fate with a smile.

"Yeah, but before anything, I think we should get some new clothes first." Fate suggested gaining a nod from his friend.

As they walk into a store, the owner looks at them with a raised brow, seeing two kids in old rags, with one carrying a bag over his shoulder.

"We would like to buy some clothes please." Fate said snapping the man out of his shock.

"This isn't a clothing store, this is a blacksmith." Said the man in a rough voice, while glaring at them trying to intimidate them, seeing how the room was decorated with weapons and armor.

"I know, do you have any armor her size?" Fate asks, not fazed by the man's statement, this just earns him a grin from the blacksmith.

"Well, this was a surprise. You aren't intimidated by me kid?" The man immediately dropped his intimidating look switching to a more joyful one.

"You're a good, hard-working, and honest man." Fate said, using his word carefully and making the blacksmith smile, before pointing his thumbs to his left.

"Well, I don't have much for a taste for clothing but, I do know someone who does, go out and take a left, there is a store that sells clothing, you two might find something you like there since they are currently having a sale, and the price is quite cheap." He said as Fate just nodded then thanked him before taking Erza's hands and walking out.

"What was that all about?" Erza asks not knowing why Fate pulled her into the store, to begin with.

"Don't worry, I'm pretty sure that won't be the last time we visit him." Fate said as the two walked away from the Kreuz's Store.

After some time, Erza walked out of the store with a smile, now wearing a long-sleeved dress with a long blue shirk, black leggings, and brown boots. Fate then walked out behind her, now wearing a long, open-sleeveless leather coat, a sewn-in, corset-like vest in the front, black pants, and black sandals.

"Are you really dressing like that?" Erza asks, seeing Fate's clothing look kinda odd and revealing.

"Couldn't help it, I find this kinda familiar." Fate said as his clothing reminded him of V's clothing from Devil May Cry 5. Despite it, not being a perfect copy, it looks close enough for his taste.

"Well, at least you find what you like." The redhead said as they made their way back into the guild.

And just like that, Fate started a routine of waking up early to train before resting a bit, then waking up with Erza, cleaning up, having breakfast, doing some jobs, eating, and then going back to sleep. As they got more and more used to the guild, Erza felt like nothing could separate the two of them. Until Fate takes Erza to Fairy Hills.

"NO!" Said the redhead holding onto the white-haired boy's arm, not wanting him to leave her.

"Erza..." Fate said feeling tired as Erza was reluctant to go and live at Fairy Hills an all-female dormitory for Fairy Tail Wizard. "Please let go."

"Why can't you just stay with me here!?"

"I can't and you know that." Fate replies as he regrets his action more and more. 'I fucked up badly, Erza became too attached to me now.'

"Erza!" Fate said raising his voice a little making the redhead turn to him with a confused look. "We will meet each other again at the guild tomorrow, okay?"

"Promise?" Said the redhead, not wanting to let go of her closest friend, fearing what happened to Jellal might happen to him as well. Despite her knowing this was farfetched, she wasn't going to take any chances.

"Promise." Fate said with a smile, as Erza reluctantly let go of his hand. The redhead only looked at her one friend with a sad smile, as he slowly disappeared into the night. At night Erza has trouble sleeping, her new bed and room are more comfortable than the guild infirmary bed. Yet she felt more lonely, not having the hand of the boy she usually holds to help her sleep.

That night Erza had to force herself to fall asleep, despite the warm bed, she still found it cold.

Back outside, a bit away from the town, Fate pushed the large rock away revealing an entrance to a dungeon. He accidentally found it during one mission with Erza, but he decided to hide this since he knew Erza would never let him enter this dungeon, and if he left it untouched for too long, someone else might find it.

"Sorry Erza, but I need to get stronger." Fate said to himself as he got ready into the dungeon. 'Start'

'Let's see, I need something more than just [Self Deception].' Fate thought turning his 4 points to 4000 SP. Now with 10209 SP, he has more than enough SP to create a skill, magic, or even mastery.

'I wonder, does this have a limit?' Fate thought as he tried to make a talent.

[God Mode] Become an actual god that can alter the world.

'Alright, if this works or not.' Fate thought confirmed the creation of the skill, yet it doesn't go through but an error message appear in front of his vision.

ERROR

Update: Depending on the Talent that is created, the cost of SP will be changed to fit it.

'So I was right, there is now a limit on my creation ability.' He thought to himself seeing the new cost for the skill is ten thousand SP. 'If I made my skill too broken the cost will change to fit it.'

Fate then cleared away the skill, thinking of a different one.

[Gacha Talents] - The user can gain a random low to high talent per 48-168 hours. Any talent the user already has will be increased by a level.

Fate smiles looking at his new skill.

'I usually never play Gatcha games due to my terrible luck. But now with my new luck, this is a game changer.' Fate thought, using the skill and hoping for a good roll. Until his face turns to one of anger.

"I fucking hate Gatcha!" Fate said looking at the new talent he just got.

Mastery:

[Dancer] The user can understand and copy other dance moves, along with creating his own dance moves on the fly.

Skill: [Gacha Talents](72hr)

"I want a refund!" Fate yells out now really annoyed at the talent he just got. Out of anything he could get, he got [Dancer] out of all things.

Having his hands over his face, Fate let out a long sigh and dismissed his terrible luck with his new skill. Even with an increase in luck, he still gets the short end of the stick.

"Fuck it, back to my original plan it is." Fate said pulling out the short sword he was carrying before walking into the dungeon.

Pulling out a small light lacrima, Fate used it as a light source. It didn't take long for goblins to charge out at him holding clubs and makeshift axes in their hand.

'I can easily kill them.' Fate thought, dodging to the side and swung his sword cutting off the neck of one of the goblin.

+17SP

Fate noticed the small notification, but he paid it no mind focusing more on his attack and aiming for the weak points of these monsters, avoiding a swing from another goblin on his left before jabbing his blade into the creature's face and pulling his blade out killing it.

+15SP

'So this earned me SP as well.' Fate then kicks the body of the goblin into another one making it fall over, as it gets up only to get a small stone axe to the head.

+21SP

A mysterious luck takes effect, [Take Aim] skill has unlocked.

[Take Aim] - The user can lock on to a target increasing chances of hitting his target by 20%, any damage he causes to a locked target has an increase in damage by 10%.

'Luck really is the king!' Fate began taking the small makeshift weapons from the goblin corpses. 'Learning from Goblin Slayer to use the goblin's weapon against them, saving mine from getting dull before the main fight.'

Looking up, he saw more goblins charging at him, using [Take Aim] lock on the first target and throwing a club at the first one hitting it on the head, charging forward he cut off its head before kicking it at the one behind before charging up driving his blade down it chest, letting it red blood splatter over his body.

Fate changed his grip and swung his blade with the goblin body still on it at the other one, lowing himself a bit and picking up a rock, he locked on to his target and threw the rock at its face scattering its brain out, and Fate immediately hold the wrist he used to throw the rock feeling the recoiled from the throw.

"Damn it." Fate said collecting the weapons from the monsters he killed. 'Self Deception is a somewhat cheated skill, but using it wrong it can become a double edge blade that could seriously kill me.'

He then turns off his lacrima, using Self Deception to give a temporary weak form of night vision, looking in the dark room, he sees there are around 16-18 goblins. 8 regular goblins holding small weapons, 7 spearmen, 2 archers, and 1 shaman.

Pulling out the small blade, Fate threw his light lacrima into the room, locked on to it, and threw his small blade. The blade made contact with the lacrima, and it broke letting its magic out, and creating a blinding white light, that blinded all the goblins in the room.

Fate then locked onto the shaman's head and threw his small blade killing it. 'Good, the shaman is down, now the archer.' Another small blade hit the first one and an axe hit the other one. Drawing his short sword he cut off the head of a spearman. He then grabs it spear and throws it at another one.

As the goblins began to regain their vision almost half of them were killed. As they charge at Fate, he taps his feet on the ground swiftly moving to the side to avoid the charge, he spins around and slams the hilt of his weapon to the back of the monster's head pushing it to the ground, spins his sword back and jabs it down the monster back.

Pulling his sword out, then spinning around and throwing a kick at a goblin's face, he then spins around cutting off the bodies of two more. Before he suddenly moonwalks and throws his short sword at the last one, while pointing at it. "Yeah!"

Fate then blinked a couple of times. "Did I just fucking dance!?" Fate questioned himself before deciding to think about it later, walking up and pulling his blade out, grabbing an old cloth and wiping away the blood then placing it on his back.

"Now then." He turned his attention to the seat of the shaman which was made from bones and old cloth. Kicking it aside seeing a small trap door, opening it he saw many small baby goblins. He looked at them with a cold empty look, grabbing the makeshift axe, he slammed it down, killing each one of them.

"Done." Fate said to himself looking at the 641 Story Point he now had. Before turning and collecting the loot the goblin dropped.

Now walking out, instead of just heading out, he takes a left and enters another part of the cave. There lies the body of a deceased girl, with her arms both chained up, her body was naked revealing all her open wounds.

Fate stared at the body for a bit, before pulling out a small axe and throwing it through the dark crack of the wall, and the notification of SP appeared in his vision. The scent of the room is discussing rotten corpses lying around the room, with bones and feces. Despite the disgusting smell he still walks up and uses the axe to break the chains, before he drags the body outside, burying the deceased girl.

Taking a few steps near a river, he falls to his knees throwing up his dinner. As he was unable to hold the feeling in anymore, he might have read and learned about this type of stuff, seeing it through anime is one thing. But actually seeing something like this with his own eye and experience it is a completely different story, one that scarred his soul.

Fate then falls backward into the river, lying on the water as the one-eyed boy looks up at the bright moon above, with an empty look. "This isn't right... something like that shouldn't even be in Fairy Tail."

"Was this even the same Fairy Tail that I knew? Or was this because no one in the story even came here? Or maybe... this happens because of me?"
