Chapter 6: Unspoken Confessions

Sanya couldn't sleep that night. She tossed and turned in bed, her mind refusing to settle. The evening had been perfect—until Rahul showed up. And then Arjun's mood had shifted, his usual easygoing nature replaced by something heavier, something unspoken.

She replayed their conversation in the car. The way he hesitated before speaking, the way his voice had softened when he told her goodnight.

Did he really feel something for her?

The thought sent a shiver through her. She had always believed in keeping her heart guarded, in focusing on her career first. But Arjun... he made her question all of that.

Before she knew it, she had picked up her phone and typed out a message.

Sanya: Are you awake?

She hesitated for a moment before pressing send. It was past midnight. He was probably asleep.

But within seconds, her phone buzzed.

Arjun: Yeah. Can't sleep either.

Sanya smiled slightly. So she wasn't the only one.

Sanya: Is it because of tonight?

There was a pause before he replied.

Arjun: Maybe.

She sighed, unsure of what to say next. Was now the right time to ask him? Should she even bring it up?

Before she could decide, another message came through.

Arjun: Do you want to go for a walk?

Sanya glanced at the time. It was late, but the idea of seeing him, of talking to him in person, felt right.

Sanya: Give me five minutes.

---

Fifteen minutes later, they met outside Sanya's apartment. The streets were quiet, the cool night air making her pull her jacket tighter around herself. Arjun was leaning against his bike, hands in his pockets, looking up at the sky.

"You actually came," he said with a small smile as she approached.

Sanya shrugged. "I wasn't really sleeping anyway."

They started walking side by side in comfortable silence, the city lights casting a warm glow around them.

After a while, Arjun spoke. "So... you think Rahul will try to contact you again?"

Sanya rolled her eyes. "Probably. But I'm not interested."

Arjun was quiet for a moment before he said, "Good."

She glanced at him. "Why does it matter?"

Arjun hesitated, then let out a small chuckle. "I don't know. Maybe I just don't like the idea of someone like him thinking he has a chance with you."

Her heart skipped a beat. She stopped walking, turning to face him. "And why is that, Arjun?"

He looked at her then, really looked at her. His usual playful expression was gone, replaced by something deeper, more intense.

"Sanya... you know why."

The world around them seemed to blur as his words sank in. The quiet confession in his voice, the way his eyes held hers—it was all too much, too overwhelming.

She took a shaky breath. "Arjun, I..."

But before she could finish, he reached out and gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "You don't have to say anything right now. I just... I wanted you to know."

Sanya's heart pounded against her ribs. This was real. This was happening.

And for the first time, she wasn't sure if she was ready for it.
