short chapter sorr
Sunny slowly summoned the Weaver's Mask and applied it to his face.
He suddenly felt different, as if he was a different person.
His target? Caster.
Caster had to die.
For everyone's sake. He had to kill him to ensure his survival, to ensure... Cassie's survival aswell. He just couldn't trust him and he knows about the assasain attempt.
Moving like a shadow, Sunny slipped through the remains of an ancient structure, his footsteps silent against the cracked earth.
He pushed his body lower, his breathing even, his grip tightening around the hilt of the Moonlight Shard. Two of his shadows augmented himself, quadripling his strength.
And then, he saw him.
Caster stood alone in the ruins, sword in hand, his armor gleaming.
He wasn't searching, wasn't afraid. He was waiting.
He knew.
"Sunny." His voice was calm, almost curious. "I was wondering when you'd come."
Sunny said nothing. He simply moved.
His blade sliced through the air like a streak of silver moonlight, aiming for Caster's throat.
The Legacy reacted instantly, his own sword rising to meet the strike. The force of their collision sent out a sharp ring, sparks flying from the impact.
Sunny barely had time to react before Caster countered, his movements swift and precise.
A blur of steel cut toward him, and he twisted, narrowly avoiding a slash that would have split him open.
Caster was faster than before. Stronger. More experienced.
Sunny had expected that.
They clashed again, their blades striking like peals of thunder. Each of Caster's attacks was honed to perfection. Every block Sunny managed was instinctual, desperate, a dance on the edge of death.
But Sunny had more than just skill. He had power.
His two shadows roiled within him, fueling his movements, amplifying his strength beyond human limits. With a surge of unnatural speed, he drove his blade forward, forcing Caster back. The Legacy's eyes narrowed.
"You've changed," Caster muttered, parrying another brutal strike. "This isn't just talent. What did you do, Sunny?"
"Nothing." He spoke.
Blow after blow, his strikes grew heavier, faster. His sword carved through the air like a storm given form, each impact sending tremors through Caster's arms. The golden warrior gritted his teeth, his stance wavering under the sheer weight of Sunny's attacks.
Then Caster activated his dormant ability.
A surge of unnatural power erupted from him, his body moving at impossible speeds, his strikes gaining monstrous strength. His golden eyes burned, and before Sunny could adjust, the Legacy was upon him.
A brutal slash tore through the air, aimed straight for his ribs.
Sunny barely twisted out of the way, the blade grazing his side. A second attack came immediately after, then a third. Each one faster, more ruthless, hammering against his defenses.
Caster was relentless.
Sunny gritted his teeth. Even with his shadows, even with his augmented strength, he was barely keeping up. His body was reaching its limit. He needed to end this.
He shifted, allowing one of his shadows to coil around his blade, reinforcing his grip. He had to find an opening.
Sunny dodged his attacks and summoned his Extrodinary Rock. He had placed it before they fought, after all.
Then he spoke.
"Caster."
A voice that was not his own rang through the night.
Nephis's voice.
Caster froze.
It was only a fraction of a second, a single instant of hesitation - but it was enough.
Sunny lunged.
His blade pierced through armor, through flesh, driving deep into Caster's back. A choked gasp escaped the Legacy's lips, his body jerking violently. Blood bubbled at his mouth as he staggered forward, his sword slipping from his fingers.
Sunny didn't let go of the hilt. He twisted the blade deeper.
Caster shuddered, his golden armor gleaming with the crimson of his own blood. His breaths came in ragged gasps, his body struggling to remain upright.
"You.. you have no.. no honor."
Sunny stared at the dying old man with pity, then looked away.
"...There is honor, indeed. Honor... is not just a word powerful scumbags invented to make young fools like you die for them. And kill for them, it's not a chain that they wrapped around your neck, to make you a slave."
Caster looked at him for a few moments, trying to say something, but then slowly fell to his knees.
In the sudden silence, the voice of the Spell whispered:
[You have slain a dormant human, Han Li Caster.]
[Your shadow grows stronger!]
