In a dimly lit in the basement of the Harrison's family, Aurora Harrison, eight months pregnant, was huddled in a corner, her hair disheveled and her body trembling with fear.
She watched in terror as Linda White and Angel Harrison, the mother-daughter duo, approached her manacingly, shaking her head in panic.
"You locked me in this damp basement and forced me to carry the seed of someone who hate me. Now, you want to shove labour-inducing drugs down my throat? How can you be so heartless? Don't you fear retribution?"
"Retribution?" Linda sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. "Ha! I killed your father, manipulated my way into the Harrison family, and made my princess the heiress. If there were really any consequences, then why didn't that worthless man come back to haunt me in my dreams after dying so miserably?"
Aurora widened her face in horror, "What? You killed my dad?"
The revelation struck her like a bolt of lightning. by lightning upon hearing those words. It turned out that her father's death was no accident; it was all the work of this wicked woman.
Not only had she killed her father but she had shamelessly taken over her life, subjecting her to years of cruel torment, and blaming her for her father's death.
With range boiling inside her, Aurora's eyes turned crimson as she charged forward recklessly. "You wicked women, I will kill you! This is for me and my mother!"
Before Aurora could attack, Linda White kicked her away, sending her crashing hard on the ground.
"Mom, stop wasting time on this little brat! Hurry up and give her the drugs. As long as she gives birth to that piece of meat in her belly, I can finally become Mrs. Alexander!"
Angel Harrison said excitedly, urging her mother impatiently.
"Got it! My Angel, hold this little brat down."
With that, the mother and daughter charged forward.
One of them straddled Aurora Harrison, pinching her down so she couldn't move. The other roughly grabbed her chin and forced a bowl full of labour-inducing drugs down her throat.
"Ah!!"
Before long, Aurora, who was lying on the ground, was wracked with unbearable abdominal pain, her face turning pale as tears streamed down her cheeks.
It hurts!
"Linda White, Angel Harrison, you two bitches, You'll suffer retribution!" Aurora Harrison screamed, her voice filled with anguish.
Her eyes turned bloodshot, the glimmer of hope fading away, and then her head tilted as she lost consciousness.
At that moment, a loud cry of newborn baby filled the air.
Seeing this, Angel's heart leaped with joy. Ignoring the blood, she rushed forward and scooped the baby boy.
Immediately, she shot a disgusted glare at Aurora, who was still sporting a prominent belly, and asked, "Mom, what should we do with that bitch's body?"
Linda White sneered coldly, "Throw her into the sea to feed the fish."
....
Three years later.
Sun City.
Aurora stepped into the hotel banquet hall, wearing a one-shoulder white dress and high heels that show off her delicate ankles. The prestigious Atlas Couple are celebrating their wedding anniversary today, and as part of the waiters in charge, she had to dress well.
Three years ago, she was miraculously saved by a kind stranger who took her in and helped her care for her newborn.
The doctor told her she'd lost some memories, including how she ended up in the water. Since then, Aurora focused on raising her kids and moving on.
The luxurious building was filled with unfamiliar sights and sounds of mingling guest. She felt overwhelmed.
"Aurora?"
Aurora turned around to see her friend, whom she hadn't seen in years, calling out to her uncertainly, "Sophia."
When she saw Benjamin standing beside her, memories that had been forcibly surpressed flooded her mind, "Benjamin"
"I told you it was her, but you didn't believe. Aurora, how are you? It has been so many years," Benjamin said, looking pleased.
"Aurora, it's really you. I missed you so much," Sophia said, hugging her.
"Were you also invited to this banquet?" Benjamin asked, smiling.
Aurora looked taken aback, her eyes clouding over. The painful memory of having to skip university due to pregnancy still lingered, and now, she was serving as a waiter, a stark reminder of life's twists.
There was a commotion at the door, a tall man appeared before her eyes. He wore a deep blue suit and leather shoes, seemingly casual, but his powerful aura spread to every corner of the banquet hall, making people feel oppressed and unable to breath.
As Aurora prepared to reply, Benjamin's voice interrupted, "Maverick."
Aurora turned to stare at a face etched in her deepest memory, handsome and fierced, with a pair of cold black eyes boring into her mercilessly.
Her scalp went numb. At that time, she felt she was alone and fragmented images began to reorganize.
The night in the presidential suite three years ago...
Her son's faces were becoming more and more alike...
All the feelings of luck were paralyzed at the moment...
How could it be possible... how could he be the man from that night?
How could it be Maverick, her mother's stepson...
Maverick strode over with long legs, his strong aura giving off unfriendly suffocating feelings as he stood in front of them at almost two metres tall.
"Maverick, when did you return?" Benjamin was stunned, having never expect Maverick to come back to Sun City, let alone attend his parents' wedding anniversary. He thought Maverick had cut off ties with the Alex's family and was still living overseas.
Sophia next to him became tense and flustered.
Despite being former classmates, Sophia had always felt intimidated by Maverick, whose hostile demeanor unnerved her.
"What, not welcoming?" Maverick's deep and thick voice carried a non-angry but intimidating voice, his sharp gaze scanning straight towards Aurora's face.
"How could that be? We're so happy that you could come, Sophia and I!" Benjamin looked towards Aurora and asked, "Remember Aurora from school, she was a year or two behind us."
Aurora shivered at his words. It was indeed school where their paths had crossed. Her exceptional intelligence had earned her a scholarship to a prestigious high school in Sun City, a twist of fate that led her to meet Maverick.
Maverick stared at Aurora's face, his black eyes piercing, "Very memorable."
Aurora never dared to looked at Maverick's face from beginning to end, avoiding his gaze, "Sophia, I...I need to go to the bathroom."
Without waiting for Sophia to speak, she turned around and fled, bumping into one of her colleagues on the way out and a quick apology was all she could manage before hurrying away.
In the restroom, Aurora looked at herself in the mirror, as if bearing great fear in her heart.
What should she do?
Did Maverick know that she was the lady from three years ago? He couldn't possibly know, right? If he did, he wouldn't have speared her three years ago. The Maverick who was disgusted by her would never touch her!
But no matter what, she couldn't stay here! Especially with so many children's photos and videos stored in her phone.
No, she couldn't let him find out!
Was there a back door here?
Aurora went to picked up her bag and phone from the front table, didn't even say hello and left following the route of the emergency exit. Just as she took three steps, two men blocked her way.
She immediately felt weak in the knees, recognizing them as Maverick's bodyguards...
At that moment, a waiter carrying a tray of drinks passed by, Aurora stepped back and threw the tray at the bodyguards, making a loud noise.
Then she turned and ran!
"Chase her!"
