Ava's point of view
I really did wish I was dreaming, but I'll just hold up till all this nightmare is over. Atleast, the only thing I knew was real was Elsie.
Elsie sat beside me, her arms across her chest, deep in thoughts. "Hey, You okay?" she asked.
I swallowed hard and nodded. "I guess."
When we were out of the car, a tall elderly butler in crisp black suit bowed slightly.
"Miss Sinclair, Miss Turner," he said, the courtesy of his tone was pleasant. "Mr. Blackwell has asked me to escort you to your quarters."
"Quarters?." Just like I wanted. Some save space away from Him.
"Lead the way," Elsie said as I didn't reply.
We followed the butler up the hall, the echoes of our footsteps resounded against marble floors; the air inside was heavy and sweet like luxury.
When we entered my assigned room, everything was ready, when the butler open the door, I was so amazed by the sight. "If you need anything, you'll just ring the bell." He said pointing to a bell on the table before signing out.
I blew out a deep breath, rubbing my head as I collapsed on the velvet lounge.
"This is just ridiculous," I muttered.
"Absolutely," Elsie said, pacing back and forth in front of me. "We need a plan, Ava. You can't just stay locked up in here like some fairytale princess."
I groaned. "I know, but-"
I never got to finish my sentence when my phone buzzed on the bedside table. I reached for it, expecting to see another call from Maximus. But by the time I saw a notification from a new blog, my whole body froze.
Elsie frowned. "What is it?"
I turned the phone toward her. It was a live-stream notification. Nolan is getting married.
Those words sliced through my chest, and my trembling fingers clicked the link. The screen blinked to life to an outdoor wedding reception outside of some mansion or over the top decoration, roses spilling over huge golden arc, and beneath it, Nolan…sat in a black tux, smiling to the camera.
"Oh my God," Elsie gasped, and leaned over my shoulder.
I couldn't breathe.
It wasn't a wedding; it was his wedding. My Nolan, the one who had just recently broken up with me, was standing at that altar with another woman.
"I don't understand," I whispered, my voice too quiet. "How could he… How could he do this?"
Elsie's jaws stiffened, like a voice. "Something's off."
The camera panned back, and my vision blurred a little, zooming in on the bride. she was stunning with curly auburn hair, she wore brilliant white dress, with one hand supporting the swell of her swollen abdomen. My stomach twisted.
"She's pregnant?" it squeaked out.
A different shot played where Nolan slipped a ring on her. I felt punched.
"Why would he keep this from me?" I said, my head shaking in absolute disbelief. "Why did he act like I was the one who had betrayed him when he was planning this all along?"
Elsie set a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Ava, we don't have the whole story yet. I really think we should-"
"I have to go," I said shortly, getting up.
Elsie's eyes went wide. "Wait, what? No, Ava, think this over."
But I was already to the door. "I have to speak with him."
"Ava, this is such a bad idea!"
I ignored her. The storm brewing inside of me needed to break through, and it couldn't just fade inside while he prepared exchange wedding vows with someone else.
When I alighted from the car, which parked in front of the event hall. my heart and spurts of adrenaline was running and pushing me inside. When I entered the wedding party people turned to my direction.
I could hear whispers the moment I stepped inside. Eyeballs turned to me with shock and amazement, but I did not bother about them. My eyes were glued to only one person, Nolan.
He stood near the bar, a small cluster of friends around him, laughing, with a champagne glass in his hand.
As soon as his saw me, his expression darkened, his eyes became cold.He set the champagne glass down and started walking towards me
"Ava," he greeted curtly.
I want to call his name but there's a lump in my throat. "What is this?" I gesticulated wildly at the wedding decor, the guests, most of all at the ring now on her finger. "You just told me it was over, and now you are married?"
His jaw clenched. "You started this, Ava."
"What?" I snapped, "You're blaming me? You shut me out. You didn't even give me a chance to explain!"
His bride had just appeared at his side, one arm flung loosely around him, "Oh, look who finally decided to show up. Poor Ava still thinking the world revolves around her."
I turned towards her. I was about to make reply her but my heart took up the sprinting pace. "Who are you?
She smiled back at me, her full-blown smile. "Well, just so you know; Nolan and I have been together for several months. You started it, so consider this a pay back."
I could really digest what I had just heard, at this point my head was already spinning.
I took one shaky step back, blind to my surroundings with my tears, and I began sobbing; my body fell on my knees.
I could hear Elise screaming my name from behind me as I fell.
But before I got the ground completely, a powerful hand caught me. I knew it was Elsie.
A low husky voice cut through the air.
"Honey, I've been looking all over for you." I turned to see the face of the speaker.
Maximus.
I blinked, disoriented, as he picked me up off the ground like I weighed nothing.
"Let's go home," he said.
The whole wedding party was silent now Nolan's face struggled between shock and fury. His new wife's smirk in disgust.
Maximus pulled me close against him.
I opened my mouth to protest, but I couldn't find my words. I was too weak now, I had to play along.
