They had both silently agreed to ignore their engagement until the day it was officially broken. Yet now, he was suddenly using it as an excuse?
Kai, as if sensing her thoughts, added smoothly, "Don't overthink it."
Amelia hesitated for a moment before shrugging. "Alright. I'll be bothering you for the night then."
She didn't mind crashing at his place—especially since he didn't seem to have any ill intent.
The car pulled into an upscale estate, passing grand mansions lined with perfectly trimmed gardens. However, when the vehicle finally stopped, Amelia blinked in surprise.
Compared to the luxurious estates surrounding it, the small duplex in front of her looked… out of place. Almost like an eyesore among the blatant luxury of the neighborhood.
Amelia felt a pang of pity for Kai.
