Chapter 28 - Chapter 27: Sowing the Seeds of the Future

The morning sun cast long shadows across the Kent farm as Alex stood at the edge of a field, staring at the land he had grown up on. The scent of freshly tilled soil mixed with the crisp morning air, bringing a sense of nostalgia. But today wasn't about memories—it was about the future.

Aeternum Industries had been officially registered, though the process had been anything but smooth. Between bureaucratic red tape, financial struggles, and ensuring his company had a legitimate front, Alex had barely found time to breathe.

His father had helped him grease the right palms to speed up the legal work, but that was only the first hurdle. The real challenge was making Aeternum Industries into something real—something that would serve both his public and private ambitions.

And that started here, with the first true test of his company's potential: revolutionizing agriculture.

The Struggles of an Inventor Without a Reputation

Setting up Aeternum Industries had been a nightmare.

Despite bribing officials to get the registration approved, Alex quickly learned that having a company on paper meant nothing without credibility. Nobody took a 17-year-old CEO seriously, especially one without any prior achievements or corporate backing.

Banks wouldn't approve loans without collateral, investors ignored his proposals, and the few scientists he reached out to either dismissed him as a fraud or assumed he was trying to scam them.

Even when he reached out to old contacts from his previous identity as a promising student, he hit walls. His supposed "miracle inventions" sounded like science fiction to anyone who wasn't deeply involved in cutting-edge research.

That was fine. He didn't expect instant success.

Aeternum Industries wasn't built to rely on investors or outside funding. It was a front—a mask for his true activities. He didn't need venture capitalists; he needed proof.

And that's why he had returned to Smallville.

Because the best way to prove his capabilities was to start with something undeniable.

A Conversation with Jonathan Kent

Jonathan Kent stood by the barn, his hands on his hips, watching as Alex set down a large crate filled with equipment.

"You're serious about this, huh?" Jonathan asked, his voice carrying a mix of curiosity and skepticism.

Alex wiped sweat from his brow. "Dead serious. If this works, it could change farming forever."

Jonathan studied his son for a moment before glancing at the field. "And you think people will believe a teenager came up with all this?"

Alex smirked. "They don't have to believe it was just me. That's what Aeternum Industries is for. A team of scientists—fictional at first—working on cutting-edge agricultural advancements."

Jonathan frowned. "And you really think this is going to work?"

Alex crouched down, grabbing a handful of soil and letting it run through his fingers. "I know it will."

His father remained silent for a long moment before sighing. "Alright. What do you need?"

The Science—And Magic—Behind the Solution

The first step was preparing the enhancement formula.

Alex spent the next few hours in the barn, mixing various ingredients—some scientific, some mystical—into a refined agricultural stimulant. This wasn't just fertilizer; it was a carefully engineered Beyonder-infused solution that:

✔ Strengthened crops against disease and pests

✔ Accelerated growth without harming the soil

✔ Increased nutrient absorption, making the food healthier

Using Clown pathway abilities, Alex ensured the mixture remained undetectable. It would seem like an advanced but entirely normal agricultural breakthrough.

Once the formula was complete, he loaded it into a custom-built irrigation system—a disguised device that would distribute the solution across the farm without raising suspicion.

Testing the Formula

As night fell, Alex and Jonathan worked in silence, setting up the irrigation system.

Jonathan finally broke the quiet. "You really thought all of this through, huh?"

Alex chuckled. "Had to. If this works, it won't just help our farm—it'll prove Aeternum's worth. From there, I can scale up, sell it to small farms first, then to bigger companies."

Jonathan nodded slowly. "And if it doesn't work?"

Alex smirked. "Then I'll go back to the drawing board."

They activated the system, watching as the enhanced water spread across the soil. Within hours, the first signs of change would appear.

But as they stood there, a voice cut through the silence.

"Working late?"

Alex stiffened. He turned to see Clark standing a few feet away, arms crossed, his expression unreadable.

His older brother's presence was unexpected—but what was even more concerning was the look in his eyes.

Clark was suspicious.

Clark Kent: Suspicion and Concern

Clark had been watching Alex ever since he came back from his mysterious month-long disappearance.

At first, he had chalked it up to stress—maybe even trauma. But something didn't add up.

The way Alex moved, spoke, and even thought seemed… different.

And then there was the business. Clark had seen how fast Aeternum Industries was registered, how suddenly Alex was developing technologies that shouldn't be possible.

Now, standing here in the middle of the farm, watching his younger brother experiment with something that felt beyond normal science, Clark couldn't ignore his concerns any longer.

"What are you doing, Alex?" Clark asked, his voice calm but firm.

Alex forced a grin. "Just a little experiment. Trying to make farming more efficient."

Clark narrowed his eyes. "You've been different lately. Ever since you got back."

Alex's mind raced. He had anticipated this—but not so soon.

He needed to control the conversation.

So he sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Look, Clark… I know I've been acting strange. But the truth is, I've been working on this for a while now. Before everything that happened, I was already developing ideas for Aeternum. That month I was gone… it gave me time to refine them."

Clark's gaze didn't waver. "And what exactly happened during that month?"

Alex hesitated for just a fraction of a second. "My powers awakened. It took a toll on my body, on my mind. I was barely conscious for most of it. But while I was out, something in me changed. My thoughts became clearer, my ideas sharper. It's like my brain rewired itself."

That part wasn't even a lie.

Clark studied him carefully, then sighed. "Alright. But if anything feels off, you'll tell me, right?"

Alex nodded. "Of course."

Clark gave him one last searching look before turning away.

Alex exhaled slowly. Crisis averted—for now.

The Results: Aeternum's First Success

By morning, the results were undeniable.

The crops that had been treated with the enhanced formula were already sprouting faster than normal, their leaves greener, healthier.

Jonathan whistled. "Damn. That's… that's something."

Alex grinned. "And this is just the beginning."

Jonathan clapped a hand on his son's shoulder. "You might actually pull this off, kid."

Alex looked out at the fields, a sense of satisfaction settling in.

Aeternum Industries had taken its first step.

But in the back of his mind, he knew this was just the start of a much bigger game.

Because if Clark was already getting suspicious… how long until someone else took notice?

----------------------------------------------------------- Ok so I am writing this because someone is trash talking to me in the comments and even gave a bad review 😭 because he is confusing A Beyonder from LOTM to The Beyonder from Marvel verse. This 2 are completely unrelated do no confuse this things together. Now that my feelings are hurt I am going to need some power stones to get my treatment(Yeah I am shameless)
