"ugh" Lillian groaned, holding her aching head as she turned around, taking in the red, hot, and blur environment. She felt disoriented, struggling to remember how she got there.
The last thing she recalled was gulping down alcohol, complaining about how much her life sucks. And now she was in a fire.
*oh my God, I am in the middle of a fire. *
A shiver run down Lillian's spine as she immediately stood up, only to stumble from dizziness, Blinking to clear her vision, she realized that she was trapped in a burning bongalow. Panic sets in as she run through the house, dodging flames while trying to find an exit. But every door and window was locked and blocked by fire.
There was no way out.
The thought terrified her. She could either suffocate or burn alive. The helplessness made her body tremble.
"calm down calm down.."she coughed, struggling to catch her breath. But before she could spiral further into panic, something caught her eyes _a shadowy figure in a hidden corner of the room.
*a person *
She rushed towards the figure, jumping over debris and avoiding the flames. When she got closer she saw a man laying on the floor. His chest was rising and falling _he was alive.
Lillian dropped to her knees beside him, coughing violently as the smoke burn her throat. Her gaze flickered to the burning flame creepy toward the kitchen. Her vision blurred, and dizziness threatened to consume her.
*am I going to die like this *she thought.
In the midst of her despair, something shifted. A sensation brushed against her skin _not the suffocating heat of the fire but a cool breeze. Hope flared inside her as she focused on the direction it came from. There _behind a wooden wall _she spotted an old, rusty door.
Her only way out.
Summoning all her strength, Lillian grabbed a nearby iron rod and slammed it against the door. The impact rattled her arms, but she didn't stop. With one last desperate hit, the old door gave way, crashing open.
She hesitated for a second before looking back at the unconscious man. She wrapped his arm around her neck and dragged him through the exit with her.
The escaped led to a tunnel like passage, and from there, she ran faster than she ever had before.
She didn't stop, not even after making it outside.
Her burning lungs begged for air as she stumbled into an unfinished building. But all she could think about was the fire spreading through the house she had just escaped.
Her body trembled violently.
"oh... My... God" she gasped between breaths. Pain and intense emotion crashed over her in waves. Her vision swam, her legs cave in, and before she could fight it _
She collapse beside the man she had just saved.
