Chapter 1 - Reunion

The world was once a blissful haven, a place of tranquility and peace. Humans basked in the glory of themselves until something strange happened some centuries ago...

The supernatural, creatures of the night born from darkness and the unknown, came into existence. Werewolves, vampires, and everything in between now roam the earth. Not long after, an all-out war burst forth, a struggle for power and survival.

A prophecy tells a tale of a special type of supernatural, one that would tip the scale of power towards those who it favors. Humans seek to destroy it while the supernatural seek it for its favor....

*****************

He looks at the dark, starless sky, the air thick and suffocating. His eyes gleaming with red radiance within the darkness. Blood flowing down his mouth, dropping to the floor. He tightened his grip on the pale, lifeless body he had just killed.

"What am I doing?" He whispered, his voice heavy in his throat. "I swore never to kill. I'm supposed to be an elite hunter, dammit." He knew what he did was wrong, but he had no choice.

Kaiden was now a vampire, the very creature he despised the most. He licks the blood off his lips; it was sweet and metallic. He let go of the dead child; he walked away with heavy feet, his steps calm but quick.

The bush leaves rustled. A stake whooshed through the air; he was just a fraction of a second faster, and it bit through his ear, burying itself into the earth. Three people walked out of hiding and into the shining moonlight.

Two men and a girl, each wearing light leather armor. The two men held their swords while the girl held her bow, ready to fire. They were hunters.

"It's a shame we had to reunite under such foul circumstances, Kai." Kaiden said in bitterness to the oldest of the three.

"By the coalitions of the international guild, I hereby sentence you, rough hunter Kaiden Corvus, to death." Kai said, gripping his sword tight.

"What a warm way to greet an old friend. It's been years, Kai." Kaiden tried to force a smile, but it felt only like a grimace.

"A heartless, cold-blooded vampire who's lost his humanity can never be a friend of mine." Kai replied, his stance more tense than ever.

"I'm... I'm still human, more human than ever." Kaiden said, averting his eyes from the corpse. He used one hand to hold his shoulder tight, his lips curling downwards."I had no choice. I had to feed"

"Enough!!" The girl's voice cut through, unforgiving.

The third man draws his sword along with Kai, both of them rushing at Kaiden with the goal of killing. Humans at the brink of extinction, they sought out a way to fight back, creating weapons specially for killing supernatural beings, some even waking rare abilities.

The two hunters were experienced with years of honed skills. Their blades, moving with deadly precision, were aimed at beheading Kaiden. If it were any other vampire, he would be long dead by now. Kaiden wasn't. Not only was he a formal hunter, but he was also once the leader of this group.

With swift movements, he knocks down the girl. He grabbed her, trying to ease her fall, then laid her on the floor. He turned around but was met by the blade of Kai straight through the heart; then another followed.

"I hope our paths cross again with a better fate."

With that, he disappeared into the darkness.

"So, it was a clone. Not bad," he whispered to himself.

Just then, a figure fell from the skies. He was a copy of Kaiden but had shorter hair. He was wearing green iron armor with two daggers strapped to his waist.

"Where is he?" The figure demanded in an angry roar.

"He slipped through our fingers; you just missed him. Nice timing, by the way," the other man replied in a sarcastic tone.

Kaiden was walking around in the forest, trying to find his way out. The people he once called friends are now hunting for him; worst of all, they saw him in this state. If it wasn't for her, he would be living a cool life at the capital with an honorary title. He had to find a way to turn back to a human, and fast.

"This night couldn't get any worse." He whispered.

He stopped because he picked up a strange scent. It was sharp and all over the place, sending signals of warning all through his veins.

"Head hunter Kaiden Corvus, also known as the superhunter. Look at you, a filthy vampire; fate sure has a way of teaching lessons, wouldn't you agree?" Said a voice from a treetop. Although he had perfect night vision, he couldn't fully see who it was.

His senses were right about one thing: those scents he picked up earlier belonged to werewolves. He was now in werewolf territory.
