Adeline bring us to an apartment building near the castle. The apartment look new with no dust in it. I can tell it's one of the most fancy apartment in this shelter. I look at her in confusion.
Wasn't he doubt me? Is this some kind of test? Why else would I got to live here?
I have so many questions to ask but held back. She hands me the keys of the houses. Since I was the group leader, she asks me to arrange their accommodation. They would probably listen to me better than a stranger they just met.
"You guys will live in pair. I'm sure there will be more people that will join this shelter. We can't conquer the whole building on our own."
Not until I recover the whole city.
I didn't say that out loud since there's still a long way to go before we could reach that phase.
"You can decide on your own, who do you want to live with. Dean!" He answers at my calling. "You will live with me. What do you think?"
He smiles and runs to me like a child. "Of course. I want to sleep with sister!"
I nod at him. After that, I begin to hand out the keys to each pair. It has numbers on it so it's easy to tell which one will be their new home. I bring Dean to the highest floor of the apartment. He got really excited the moment I open the door.
The house is spacious, complete with various furniture and even electricity. I'm surprised that they have got electricity at this time. I still remember how hard it is to set up electricity in the novel. It took them a whole year and a half to empower the whole city.
Something is really suspicious.
"Dean, how about you take a shower first? You must be very tired. I will make a dinner soon," I tell the excited little kid that hasn't done checking the house yet.
"Okay!"
After I made sure that he has gone to shower, I sit on the couch in the living room. I take off my mask and my hair start to turn white again. All the feelings I have felt this past month begin to slowly fade away. My heart feels empty yet heavy at the same time.
"This mask is really amazing. I got to feel the emotions I have lost whenever I wear it. But that besides the point." I close my eyes to search for an energy inside my body. I can feel the almost none existent warmth at the lower part of my heart.
It's mana. Something that exists in my previous world but none in this world. I channel the little mana that I have into the mask in my hands. The mask that looks transparent starts to glow in silver light. Then I wear the mask again.
The moment I open my eyes, I found myself in a space full of white. I couldn't tell where's the beginning and the end. In front of me is a person with rainbow like hair. She smile softly at me just like how the first time we met.
"Long time no see, Arluna. I knew you would call me sooner or later," despite her soft greeting, I look at her with distrustful gaze.
"It's about time you tell me everything I need to know. What happened to Eden?" I ask my first question. She told me before that I can only ask three questions everytime we meet like this. It's not because she wants to make it seems like a game, but rather, it's the rule in this white space.
In return, she can't lie to any questions that I asked her. She needs to answer the truth or else she will suffer, or so she says. I don't know about it anymore after I realized that they didn't tell me much about the world except what the Library showed me in the novel.
"You should ask what exactly happened to that world. Eden is the 'victim' because of the deal the world made," she starts to explain.
"What deal? Tell me in detail."
"The world made a deal with the Library to turn back time to when the apocalypse just started. It's because forty percent of the world became destroyed or desolate after facing the last two unranked monster.
The Library agreed to the request since it wasn't considered as meddling 'personally'. But it's not exactly turn back time but rather, it's 'rewritten'. As to what happened to Eden, you should have guessed about it. His ability is record. Do you know what that means?"
This time, I'm the one who answered the question from her. Rather than answering her, it's more like I'm talking to myself.
"That means he's someone who could never forget. Although the world is rewritten, the records he has still stayed with him. That's why his hair has turn white. His body must have experienced trauma after all the information suddenly flooding in his head the moment the world was rewritten."
No wonder I felt like his hair was similar to mine. It's because our body can't handle the sudden stress we put on it.
"That's right. But... Do you know why we sent you there when there's already someone who knows the future?"
"It's because he alone won't be enough, right? You can't save the world alone." That's what I have learned from my experiences before.
"You already know it. What is your last question?"
"What is his second ability?" She smiles at my question like she just got caught. I knew something was off. She just told me why his hair turn white but never explained why his eyes look so different. There's no other explanation than he got a new ability.
"Eyes of truth. This ability isn't to make him see whether someone was telling the truth or not. Instead, he could see a true nature of everything around him." Hearing her explanation make me want to curse.
"That means he already knows what I look like behind the mask," I give her a cold glare and she awkwardly nod. Before I can lose my patience and give her a taste of my fist, my surroundings starts to turn black. It's a sign that I have to return back since I have asked three questions.
The moment I open my eyes again, I am sitting on the couch in a living room. I look around to confirm that it has only been a few minutes and Dean hasn't gotten out of the shower yet.
"Forget about that annoying person. Let's organize the information that I got." I try to calm myself.
"First, this world is rewritten and Eden knows all the things that happened before it's rewritten. He also got an ability to see a person's true nature. So, not only does he knows what would happen in the future, but with his record ability he could predicted the change that he made to his surroundings as long as he has enough data.
Doesn't that mean the knowledge of the future that I saw in the novel will be useless? The only way to make him share the knowledge of the future is to gain his trust. But it will be really difficult to do that since he can see my true nature.
Seriously, why do I feel like I got scammed? The rewards that I asked certainly isn't enough to compensate what I will be through." I say through the grit teeth.
