Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Job

Bishop wasted no time. He spread out the blueprints on the table, pointing to a high-rise building in the heart of the city. "Your target is inside this tower—fourth floor, private suite. Name's Victor Langley. Ex-government, now deep into arms trafficking, laundering money, and a few other things I won't bore you with. He's untouchable legally, but certain people want him gone. That's where you come in."

Alex studied the layout. "Security?"

Bishop nodded. "High-end. Armed guards, reinforced doors, cameras on every entrance. Getting in won't be easy."

Ellie leaned in, scanning the images. "So, we're just supposed to waltz in and put a bullet in his head?"

"Not that simple." Bishop tapped a smaller photo—a steel briefcase handcuffed to Victor's wrist. "He never lets this case out of his sight. You take him out, you bring that case back to me."

Maya folded her arms. "What's in it?"

Bishop's smirk was brief. "Not your problem."

Alex's gut twisted. A job this dangerous and Bishop wouldn't even tell them what they were really after? That meant the contents were valuable—dangerous. But right now, they didn't have the luxury of asking questions.

He exhaled sharply. "How do we get in?"

Bishop reached for another file. "Langley's holding a private party tomorrow night. Invitation only. That's your window."

Ellie raised a brow. "And you have invitations?"

Bishop grinned, sliding three fake IDs across the table. "I do now."

Alex picked up his, glancing at the name. Marcus Keller. He looked at Maya and Ellie. Their names were different too—new identities for one night.

Maya sighed. "Let me guess. Black-tie event?"

Bishop shrugged. "Hope you clean up nice."

Ellie rolled her eyes. "Great. We go in all dressed up, take out a high-profile target, steal a case, and escape without getting killed. Easy."

"That's the spirit," Bishop said dryly.

Alex pocketed the ID. "We'll need weapons inside."

Bishop nodded. "I'll have a contact plant them ahead of time. But once you're in, you're on your own. No backup. No second chances."

Maya cracked her knuckles. "Sounds like our kind of job."

Bishop's gaze hardened. "Make no mistake—if you screw this up, you won't live long enough to regret it."

Alex already knew that.

He looked at Ellie and Maya. They had no choice.

"Then let's get to work."
