The guests were confused. It had only been an hour since they arrived at the gala, why was it ending so soon? The main event hadn't even begun yet.
Murmurs erupted within the hall.
"Is something going on?" one of the guests asked, whispering to another.
"Looks like it."
"Does this mean the gala for this year is canceled?"
The entire crowd lifted their gazes towards the alpha, Keelion Fane, who had Alexis trapped against the wall. His personal man, Augustus, made eye contact with him, against the idea of canceling an event as big as the gala out of the blue.
Keelion's jaw ticked, gaze flying back to Alexis, whose eyes were as wide as saucers.
"I said," he bit out. "EVERYONE IS DISMISSED!"
The building nearly vibrated from the force of his bellow. And like a bunch of ants that had been stepped into, they began to putter out of the hall.
Alexis turned her gaze to the crowd, stiffening as a pair of familiar eyes fell on her, one that grew with fury with every passing second.
"Dad!" She forced her way out to leave with her father, who was dragging Eve off, clearly enraged, but she was grabbed and pulled back with a force that made her wince.
"Not you," Keelion said. "You are not going anywhere."
Alexis inhaled and exhaled, hot breaths fleeing her mouth. She shook her head at him. "No, no, you have to let me go. I-I don't feel so good."
"Lock the gate!" he ordered, and Augustus made a light bow before turning around and walking off.
Keelion dragged Alexis along with him, up the stairs and towards his master bedroom, all the while she fought, trying to escape out of his grip.
"Please, you have to let me go," she begged, croaking out amid the heat that was fogging her brain.
The man didn't listen, opening the door and shoving her inside. He shut the door behind him, and Alexis, who stared at him, swallowed, biting her bottom lip.
The overwhelming maleness of him, that mouthwatering pheromone oozing from him, it was unlike anything she'd ever smelt before. His scent and pheromones were the first she had ever smelled in twenty-two years of her life, and she was so close to dropping to her knees.
The warm tightness in her lower belly made her squeeze her eyes shut, whimpering under her breath, her arms wrapped around her.
Keelion narrowed his eyes on her. "What are you?"
She peeled her eyes open, looking up at him as he approached her slowly. "A-a beta."
"Liar. You're not a beta. Betas do not have scent. You have a scent, but you're not an alpha." He pinned her with a look that could probably freeze lava.
Alexis shook her head at him. "I'm a beta."
"No, you're not."
"I. Am!" she grounded out, forcing steps towards him. The man came to a stop and just stood to watch her. She didn't stop, not until she got close enough to push him enough to make him fall to the floor.
It came as a surprise, and he cocked his brow at her, a mix of shock and confusion on his face. What was she doing?
Alexis got on top of him, straddling his waist, and he grabbed her immediately.
"What are you doing?"
She didn't answer him, grabbing his shoulders to bury her face in his neck.
His expression screwed into a frown, hands reaching to grab her thin biceps. She was hot all over, oozing more of the sweet pheromones that he'd smelt in the hall earlier, the reason he'd found her in the first place. She was his mate, but that didn't make sense to him, because she was male, meaning she was in no way an omega.
"You're in heat!" It was as if the realization just suddenly dawned on him, the pieces falling together in his head. "How are you in heat? Why are you behaving like an omega? You're a—"
"Touch me." Alexis fought him, grabbing the hem of her shirt to pull it over her head. She looked at him with begging eyes. "Please…please touch me."
Keelion all but hissed, looking beyond furious. "Are you insane—" His gaze fell to her upper body, eyes growing wide at the white piece of clothing she had wrapped tightly around her chest. He blinked. "You're a woman…"
It wasn't a question.
Alexis threw her shirt aside, cradling his cheek the second he locked eyes with her.
The man creased his brows. "You're an omega, and you're—"
"Please just shut up and help me. I'm losing my mind!" She collided her lips with his in a messy, awful kiss, grinding against him for any sense of relief she could get. Her scent flooded his brain, earning a groan from him, and his finger curled at the nape of her neck, grabbing and taking control.
Alexis found her fingers through his purely white silky hair, whimpering into his mouth, her body growing all the more hotter, her frame shivering under his touch.
"Bite me." She broke the kiss for a second, dropping her pleading gaze on him. "Please, bite me. It hurts."
Her uncontrolled pheromone had filled the entire room, and Keelion couldn't resist it—It felt impossible, drowning his control that had never once wavered. He growled under his breath, dropping his forehead against her shoulder. He was trying to fight it, the urge to bite her, but not even his body was listening to him.
His canines forced their way out, itching horribly with the need to bite.
"Keelion, please… Please mark me." Her grip tightened on his shoulder, breathing heavy. "I'm begging you!"
The bright ring around his irises darkened, and he gripped her hair, biting into her mating gland, his canines piercing her flesh.
Alexis gasped, puffing out breaths at the tightness in her abdomen, her eyes squeezing shut in a kind of bliss she'd never felt before. She buried her face in his neck, breathing heavily and coming down from her high peacefully—that was until her hands were grabbed, her back meeting the floor in seconds.
Keelion pinned her down with his heavy body, eyes boring down at her. She panted beneath him, swallowing and staring at him in silence.
"What the fuck are you?" he questioned, hardened tone laced with anger.
