Chapter 12 - Hayden's Treatment ( 2 )

Hayden's heart pounded as Dr. Veyra inserted the first needle.

A faint warmth spread through his wrist, and he felt a slight tingling sensation as the energy began to flow in his veins…

It was weirdly comforting but it was just the start.

The doctor then continued to mumble Hayden's instructions.

"Next is the Neiguan, on the inner forearm," Dr. Veyra softly said.

"This point regulates the flow of energy between the heart and the stomach. It's essential for balancing the overall energy…"

As the needle was inserted, Hayden felt a surge of energy coursing through his arm.

The Ocularis Lens also confirmed the change…

[ Meridian blockage in heart meridian cleared by 6%. Energy flow stabilizing. ]

Dr. Veyra moved to the Lung Meridian, targeting Taiyuan on the wrist and Zhongfu point near the collarbone.

The doctor paused for a moment as he recalled Hayden's words…

"These points strengthen the respiratory system and improve stamina," he muttered.

Hayden winced as the needles were inserted, but the discomfort was quickly replaced by a sense of relief.

Just like that, his breathing became deeper. Then, the Ocularis Lens noted a significant improvement in his lung function.

After some time, the treatment progressed to the Spleen Meridian, where Dr. Veyra targeted Sanyinjiao on the inner leg and Yinlingquan near the knee.

Hayden's body was slowly being filled with Acupuncture Needles.

"These points are crucial for digestion and energy production," the physician said. This time, he was already looking at the book he had written.

It seemed that his memorization ability still had a limit.

"They'll help your body process nutrients more efficiently and build up your strength…"

Hayden felt a warm, soothing sensation spread through his legs as the needles did their work. The Ocularis Lens displayed a steady increase in energy flow, and Hayden's fatigue began to fade.

The next one was the Liver Meridian, with Taichong on the foot and Qimen on the ribcage.

"So these points regulate emotional balance and detoxify the body…" Dr. Veyra nodded as he read his notes.

He had to remember all of this if he wanted to master the Acupuncture Technique.

In the meantime, Hayden already felt confident that the doctor would be able to do everything perfectly.

With that in mind, he decided to just close his eyes and feel the tension in his chest and shoulders melt away.

For the first time in weeks, he felt... calm.

Time quickly passed and the last set of points targeted the Kidney Meridian, the source of Hayden's vitality.

Dr. Veyra inserted needles into Taixi on the ankle and Shufu near the collarbone.

This time, Dr. Veyra could no longer remember what this acupuncture point does and could only read the notes to remind himself…

"These points will strengthen core energy and restore the body's natural balance…" He said while looking at his notes.

"You also mentioned that this is the most important and dangerous part of the treatment… Stay still."

Hayden blinked to acknowledge his words.

Soon, his body trembled slightly as the needles were inserted.

The Ocularis Lens then displayed information he wanted to see!

[ Energy surge detected. Stabilizing meridian flow. ]

[ Warning: Fatal energy backlash possible. ]

'This is it… Please work!' Hayden prayed in his mind.

For a moment, Hayden felt as though his entire body was on fire.

The energy coursed through his meridians was a bit too intense or perhaps overwhelming! Of course, he expected this much but he still struggled to stay conscious.

Thankfully, he had the mind of a trained soldier!

But then, as he was reaching his limit, the sensation subsided!

He made it!

Even the doctor nervously wiped off his sweat as soon as colors returned to Hayden's face…

"You scared me, kid!"

It was such a terrifying moment for him! After all, he would never be able to explain himself if he somehow killed the son of his precious friend.

On the other hand, Hayden was excitedly looking at the message that Ocularis Lens displayed

[ Meridian blockages cleared by 98%. ]

[ Treatment successful. ]

He just needed some rest to completely recover…

He wanted to thank the doctor for his help but he could no longer stay awake. Despite having the willpower of a trained soldier, his body had been asking him to rest.

He didn't even care even if his body was drenched in sweat as he closed his eyes and finally slept…

Dr. Veyra smiled seeing that Hayden had fallen asleep. He then removed the needles one by one.

At this time, his expression was actually a mix of relief and exhaustion.

"You're a brave young man," the physician muttered as he felt really impressed after seeing how Hayden endured the treatment.

He wasn't exactly sure about Hayden's situation within the manor and why he wanted to keep this matter a secret. Nonetheless, since he benefitted from him with the Acupuncture Knowledge, he ought to keep his promise.

"But still… That vitality is impressive."

The physician hesitated as he really wanted to make Hayden his apprentice. However, after seeing the current situation in the young man's body, it seemed that Hayden would also become an Aura Master someday.

That should open up a brighter future for the child and he didn't want to impede that.

After wiping off Hayden's sweat, he put a blanket over his body.

"I'm sure we will meet again, Hayden." Dr. Veyra muttered as he carried his belongings and left the room.
