Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

~ Vark Slade~

Removing the hood of my robe gently, I walked with confidence, my shoulders swaying slightly with each step. As I reached the large candle in front of me, I stretched out my hand, and the candlelight flickered to life, illuminating the entire dark room.

I slowly took off the black mask I was wearing, allowing my short black hair to fall freely. Bringing my face close to the candlelight, my red eyes glinted. My eyebrows, curved and sharp, rested above a thin, pointed nose. I curve an evil smile on my handsome face.

I looked around the lair, taking in the black walls adorned with various animal paintings. My gaze then shifted to the golden throne that shone brilliantly. With determined steps, I made my way to it and sat down with unwavering confidence.

Memories from my past flooded my mind, reminding me of when I was just ten years old, enjoying time with my father, Kane Slade, in our grand black mansion.

My father had a deep love for bats, so much that he created a garden just for them. We were both in the garden, playing with the bats, my father was telling me jokes about them, and I couldn't stop laughing.

But in the blink of an eye, the atmosphere changed. Two of my father's servants rushed into the garden, their eyes glowing crimson, and their canine teeth bared.

"What's happening?" My father quickly turned to them, raising his brows in concern, and shielded me behind him.

"We're under attack by a powerful werewolf! She's too strong, we can't fight her!" they cried out.

My father's eyebrows furrowed, his eyes narrowing with determination, and his lips pressed into a tight line. When he opened his mouth to speak, his canine teeth elongated, and his eyes turned blue.

With a mere flick of his fingers, he slayed the two vampires, without move closer. Their bodies turned to ashes, scattered on the floor. Suddenly, the werewolf appeared out of nowhere and drove her hand into my father's chest, ripping out his heart.

My father's face contorted in pain, but before he could react, the werewolf fled. My father, despite his injury, moved faster than the eye could see and pursued her.

Snapping out of the thought, "I know you're not one of those I killed yesterday in Tagaytay! They say the prophecy foretells that you will grow powerful enough to destroy and kill me, but it's a lie! I won't even give you the chance to fulfill the prophecy. I'll hunt you down and kill you for good! I will not die like my father!"

My eyebrows twitched in anger as I said these words. Just then, my beautiful daughter, Jessica, entered the room, walking confidently, her pink lace dress fluttering with each step.

"Hello, my darling daddy! Did you miss your little, beautiful angel?" Jessica stood before me, her smile revealing dimples that could charm anyone.

"Of course, come closer to Papa!" I smiled warmly at her.

I was about to lift Jessica onto my lap when my two servants rushed in, holding a boy who looked about eighteen years old.

"Highest!" Both of my servants bowed in unison.

I moved so quickly that it seemed as if I teleported in front of them. Grabbing the boy by the neck, I noticed that he didn't struggle to save himself. I dropped him to the ground and told Jessica to go ahead and drink his blood. This was my gift to her.

Jessica giggled with delight, ran towards the boy, and sank her teeth into his neck. As the boy screamed and struggled to defend himself, Jessica held on tight, savoring the taste of his blood.

I folded my arms, the veins in my body bulging with power, and let out a loud scream. "This world will be controlled by me alone! Let all the werewolves be ready, for I will wipe them out from the surface of this earth! Including their so-called prophecy child! Aaagghh!"

Fourteen years later.

~ Kaelos Riven POV ~

The sun was just about to rise over a dark forest, which smelled of damp moss and rain. I was engaged in a fierce physical confrontation with Gabriel. We exchanged punches and kicks, with Gabriel vanishing into thin air, challenging me to find him quickly.

Gabriel fought invisibly, scratching me with his sharp fingers. I paused, closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and relaxed to sense his movements.

Each time he scratched me, I felt a rush of wind past my ear. I waited for his next attack, sensing his presence before the wind could reach me, I grabbed his neck.

I pulled him from the air and slammed him onto the ground.

"I'm sorry for causing you pain with my scratches," Gabriel said as he stood up and dusted off his clothes. He looked exactly the same as he did fourteen years ago. "Sadly, you haven't gained any power yet. And we need to move into the city."

"Are you sure I'm the future Alpha? I haven't developed any powers. You said they would appear when the blood moon rises, but it didn't happen. I'm still powerless!" I said, pulling my knees to my chest.

"I'm sorry, future Alpha, for saying something that hurt you. Please forgive me," Gabriel pleaded, dropping to his knees.

I felt disappointed and frustrated. It's been twenty years, and I have no powers except for transforming into a werewolf. My parents' deaths remain unavenged.

"Urrh, this is frustrating! Gabriel, haven't you see any prophecy in the past fourteen

years? Are you still a seer? If you are, do whatever it takes to see the prophecy of a powerful werewolf child again."

"There's no way I can force the prophecy to reveal itself; it only appears when it's needed. I'm sorry to disappoint you, my future Alpha," Gabriel said, standing before me.

I stepped closer to him, just three paces away, and looked directly into his eyes. His response wasn't what I wanted to hear, and I couldn't hide my frustration.

"Maybe the prophecy is fake! If it were true, I should be powerful by now, but I have no power at all," I exclaimed, turning away with a tense expression.

"Don't speak like that, future Alpha. Remember, I told you about Blang Emilio, the most powerful werewolf. Since her death, no werewolf has been as strong or powerful as she was—until your prophecy came. Please, be patient, my future Alpha," Gabriel said in a calm voice.

But his words didn't ease my mind. I desperately needed the power the prophecy promised to defeat Vark Slade. Gabriel noticed my continued frustration.

He then suggested we move to Manila and live among humans. But I refused. I told him I won't leave this forest until I became powerful—because that's all I want now.

I focused my gaze on my body, feeling heat spread through me as my bones elongated and reshaped. My feet and hands moved apart, and my spine straightened, my chest widened, and my heart raced. The transformation was intense, electric, and I howled in delight as my body finally turned into a werewolf.

I ran off, ignoring Gabriel's shouts for me to stop. I wasn't wrong to do this—I was just tired. Twenty years in this forest, and I hadn't gained any power. The spirits of my parents and the other werewolves who were killed are waiting for revenge.

I didn't know where I was going, just wandering through the forest to clear my mind. But even in my wolf form, I thought about Gabriel's suggestion to move to the city.

"This isn't the right time to give up," I told myself. "I've been patient all these years, so being a little more patient won't be an issue."

I kept running, my paws pounding the ground, my smooth fur swaying until I crashed into a redwood tree. The impact made me shift back into human form, instantly naked.

"Gosh, that hurts! I can't believe this keeps happening," I muttered, folding myself under the tree to stay hidden.
