Chapter 62 - Chapter 62: Into the Fire

The alley stretched ahead like a tunnel of shadows, city lights flickering in the distance. Isabella's breath came in sharp bursts, her pulse pounding in her ears. Langston's men were right behind them.

A sharp voice cut through the night. "They went this way!

Alexander gripped Isabella's hand, yanking her down a side street just as bullets shattered the brick wall behind them.

Too close.

Claire and Damian were already ahead, scanning for an escape.

"We need a car now!" Claire hissed, eyes darting around the dimly lit street.

Damian's fingers flew over his phone. "There's a construction site two blocks down. If we make it there, we can disappear."

Isabella didn't hesitate. "Then let's go."

The street opened up into a wider road, but their enemies were fast. SUVs screeched around the corner, headlights flooding the pavement.

Alexander grabbed Isabella's waist, pulling her behind a parked car just as gunfire erupted.

Glass shattered. Metal groaned. A streetlamp flickered.

"We're running out of time!" Damian shouted.

Isabella's mind raced. They needed an edge.

Her eyes locked onto a nearby motorcycle keys still in the ignition. Perfect.

Without a word, she sprinted toward it.

"What the hell are you" Alexander started, but he stopped when he saw what she was doing.

She swung onto the bike, revved the engine, and held out a hand.

"Get on."

For a split second, Alexander just stared at her. Then, with a smirk, he hopped on behind her.

"You're insane."

"And you love it." Isabella gunned the engine.

The tires screeched as they tore through the street, weaving between traffic with Langston's men in pursuit.

Claire and Damian disappeared into the construction site as planned. Now it was just Isabella and Alexander against everything Langston could throw at them.

Alexander leaned in, his voice low against her ear. "You have a plan, right?"

Isabella's lips curled into a smirk. "Of course."

She didn't.

But she knew one thing: Victor Langston had just started a war he wasn't going to win.

And she was about to prove it.
