Huo Yuhao spoke calmly, "It doesn't matter which freshman class I am in." He had come to Shrek primarily to complete achievement tasks, but also to find an environment conducive to his cultivation.
Regarding the latter, his second martial soul was a great asset. As long as Shrek's senior officials weren't blind, they'd be able to see his potential.
Twin martial souls, the Ultimate Ice, and his pure life experience – it was all a solid foundation for progress. The real question was how to approach the achievement tasks.
He knew that starting with the plot was a good option. There were opportunities in the selection for the Shrek Seven Devils reserve team, the soul-fighting competition, and even the exchange student learning arc.
However, sometimes the time spent working on tasks didn't always equate to proportional rewards.
Not to mention Huo Yuhao's personal [Passive Achievement]—the achievement tasks triggered by others were simple to understand and named accordingly. But what interested him was how to trigger the tasks, how to progress favorability, and what rewards awaited at each stage.
Huo Yuhao seemed to hear the achievement system speak to him: "Host, please explore the following functions later."
Based on what he'd seen so far, he could conclude that the higher the cultivation of the person involved in the task, the greater the potential for rewards. The more important the plot line in the original work, the more significant the reward for completing the task.
Take the soul masters Huo Yuhao had met during the registration process for example—they didn't even have a display panel.
The idea of triggering achievement tasks through building favorability with such minor characters was absurd. Even if they had achievement tasks, so what? Six tasks were the theoretical upper limit; typically, three or four were already quite impressive.
The system's favorability rating system was divided into four stages: acquaintance, friend, close friend, and confidant.
Reaching the "close friend" stage was one thing, but moving further than that required more than casual chatting or simple physical contact. Actual intimacy was necessary. Relationships had clear boundaries, whether friendship, love, or family affection.
These emotions acted as accelerators in building favorability, similar to how Skydream and Huo Yuhao shared a symbiotic relationship. She had also accessed Huo Yuhao's memories, which brought them to the confidant stage. However, even after reaching the confidant stage, refreshing the mission wasn't guaranteed to be easy.
If Huo Yuhao's personal [Passive Achievements] were the main storyline, then [Achievement Missions] triggered through others were merely side plots.
While dealing with the looming threat of Tang San, the side plots needed to be handled, but they couldn't dominate his focus. The main plot remained the priority.
Therefore, building favor with Ma Xiaotao was far more practical than engaging with Ning Tian and the others. Despite the appeal of the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Huo Yuhao had no interest in getting deeply involved.
Joining a sect like the Body Sect, where he could eventually rise to become the Holy Son, seemed far more promising.
As Huo Yuhao passed between the white freshman teaching building and the yellow second and third-year teaching buildings, he caught sight of the dormitory building.
It was large, with four sections representing the various student grades: white for freshmen, yellow for second and third years, purple for the advanced students, and black for the elite. The building had six stories in total.
At the entrance to the dormitory, an elderly man sat. His face was wrinkled, his eyes dim, and his body frail, giving the impression of someone in their twilight years. He was dressed in simple gray cloth, and the sunlight between the buildings just happened to fall on him.
In his half-reclined position, he looked quite comfortable. His hoarse voice cut through the quiet, "The girls' dormitories start from the fourth floor. You can't go up there. If you're caught, you'll be expelled."
"Understood," Huo Yuhao replied, glancing at the old man before heading inside. He appeared calm on the outside, but inside, he was a little uneasy.
The old man was none other than Mu En, the Dragon God Douluo, a level 99 extreme attack-type soul master, and the master of the God Pavilion.
He was one of the peak powers in the Douluo Continent, and despite his frail appearance, he was a force to be reckoned with. Muen's abilities in spiritual and physical attacks were unmatched, and he had a unique skillset, integrating spiritual power into his soul abilities. Even in his advanced age, he was still formidable.
Huo Yuhao walked through the dormitory corridor. The building had a rather old feel, with dormitory doors on both sides, each numbered.
At the end of the hall were the shared bathrooms, and Huo Yuhao couldn't help but wonder if the dormitory had been designed with little regard for comfort, given the large number of students competing for basic amenities.
Shrek Academy's wealth was evident, but its investment in the freshman experience was lacking. After all, if a student failed the freshman assessment in three months, they could be expelled.
The dormitory Huo Yuhao was assigned to was room 108, the third door on the left. He unlocked it with his key and entered. The room was small, only about ten square meters, with two beds taking up most of the space.
There was a small table, two iron wardrobes, and a soul guide lamp on the ceiling that required soul power to light up.
A handsome boy, around Huo Yuhao's age, was lying lazily on one of the beds. Upon seeing Huo Yuhao, he was momentarily stunned, then sneered, "You're my roommate? Why are you so late?"
The boy had fair skin, short neat hair, and striking pink-blue eyes, giving him an almost flawless appearance. However, Huo Yuhao couldn't help but think of his appearance, which rivaled this boy's in terms of looks. And to his surprise, the boy was none other than Wang Dong, dressed as a man.
"My name is Huo Yuhao. Registration for new students isn't over yet, so don't worry." There were benefits to coming late—he didn't have to do the cleaning since Wang Dong had taken care of that.
Wang Dong looked at him with a smirk. "I'm Wang Dong. You'd better remember that I cleaned this dorm myself."
"Thank you very much," Huo Yuhao replied. Their first meeting wasn't marked by any animosity or fights. Perhaps it was a matter of diplomacy or just appearances.
Wang Dong, however, wasted no time asserting his dominance. He spoke aggressively, "I declare myself the boss of this dorm. You'll follow my rules, or get out. First, no bringing people back here. Second, no snoring at night. Third, you'll clean the dorm in the future but don't touch my bed. Got it?"
"Your declaration is invalid," Huo Yuhao replied coolly.
[Wang Dong'er]
[Relationship: Acquaintance]
[Achievement Task: Strength First]
Shrek Academy prided itself on strength. This task was delivered to him on a silver platter, and Huo Yuhao wasn't about to turn it down. After all, Wang Dong seemed like a nice person, at least on the surface.
