Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Shadow Dragon

Ryo sat on the cold, barren ground, his chest rising and falling as he finally got a moment of respite. The system had granted him an hour to rest, and he made sure to take full advantage of it. His body, though still aching from the previous trials, had adapted to the relentless torment. He wasn't the same person who had first stepped into this hellish training. He had become something else—something stronger.

Just as the timer hit zero, a chilling voice echoed in his mind.

[Phase 7: Defeat the Shadow Dragon]

Ryo's fingers curled into fists, his lips stretching into a sinister smirk. The Shadow Dragon… the beast that had slaughtered him over 500 times. Each death had been agonizing, each revival fueling his rage. But now, there were no restrictions. This time, he was going to make it suffer.

A tremor shook the battlefield as the skies darkened. A black mist coiled and slithered through the air, and from the abyss, the Shadow Dragon emerged. Its massive wings cast an overwhelming shadow over the land, its glowing crimson eyes locked onto Ryo with an almost amused gaze. It remembered him. It relished in his past suffering.

[System Announcement: All abilities are unrestricted. Use everything at your disposal. Begin.]

Ryo's eyes gleamed. "About damn time."

In an instant, he activated Paradox Physique, his muscles tightening as raw energy coursed through his body. His Draconic Eyes sharpened, analyzing every movement of the dragon, every ripple in the mana surrounding it. Flames ignited along his arms as he infused Bloodflame Mastery with Elemental Manipulation, intertwining fire, lightning, and shadows into a volatile storm of destruction.

The dragon roared, releasing a wave of dark energy so dense that the ground beneath Ryo cracked. But he didn't flinch. With a flick of his wrist, he countered with Void Manipulation, absorbing the attack and redirecting it back at the beast.

The explosion sent shockwaves through the air, but the dragon barely staggered. It lunged at him with terrifying speed, its claws coated in abyssal fire. Ryo teleported just in time, appearing above the dragon's head.

"Not this time, bastard!"

He raised his hand, summoning spears of blood-infused ice, hurling them toward the beast's skull. The dragon twisted its body midair, evading with unnatural agility before retaliating with a breath attack—a tidal wave of corrosive shadows that threatened to consume everything in its path.

Ryo crossed his arms, forming a barrier using Bloodscale Armor, reinforcing it with Draconic Blood Sovereign. The impact sent him skidding across the battlefield, but he remained unharmed. A grin tugged at his lips.

"Is that all?" he taunted before vanishing into thin air.

He reappeared behind the dragon and plunged his fist, coated in Blood Weaponry, straight into its spine. The dragon shrieked in pain, its form distorting momentarily. Ryo capitalized on the opening, activating Blood Puppetry, attempting to take control of its movements. The dragon's body twitched under his command, but then it resisted, releasing a deafening roar that shattered the hold.

Tendrils of shadows erupted from its body, wrapping around Ryo's limbs and pulling him toward the ground. But he was already prepared. With a burst of Sanguine Dragon's Wrath, he unleashed a crimson explosion, obliterating the restraints.

The dragon retaliated by diving toward him at full speed, aiming to crush him beneath its massive form. Ryo's Abyssal Dragon Wings unfurled, and he shot upward, meeting the dragon head-on. He activated Dragonification, his body morphing—his hands now claws, his skin partially covered in glistening scales. His strength surged beyond limits as he slammed his fist into the dragon's jaw, sending it hurtling toward the ground.

The moment it crashed, Ryo followed through. He extended his hand, summoning Bloodflame Spear, the weapon pulsing with unimaginable power. With a war cry, he hurled it straight into the dragon's chest.

The impact triggered a massive explosion, sending waves of energy rippling across the battlefield. The Shadow Dragon writhed in agony, black flames consuming its body from within. It let out one final, enraged roar before its form began to dissolve into the void.

Ryo hovered in the air, watching the beast perish with satisfaction. His breath was heavy, but a sense of vindication filled him. He had finally won.

[Phase 7 Completed.]

The system's voice chimed again.

[Would you like to continue to the next phases?]

Ryo didn't hesitate. "Hell no!"

[Understood. Returning to the real world. Calculating rewards for reaching Phase 7 and completing advanced training for the first time.]

A blinding light enveloped him, and within seconds, he felt reality shifting. When he opened his eyes, he was back. The real world.

Time had barely moved since he left.

After returning, Ryo had killed some students by torturing them.
