Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Worst Transmigration Ever

Chapter 1. The Worst Transmigration Ever

Amidst the towering trees and moist land, Lucien slowly opened his eyes, startled by a sudden wolf howl.

He rubbed his eyes, his vision still blurry, and mumbled, "How come there's a wolf howl in a bustling city? I must be dreaming."

As his vision cleared, he was horrified. He saw five gray wolves slowly approaching, their predatory eyes fixed on him.

"What? What happened? Am I really dreaming?" he exclaimed. "Why do I feel like this is reality?"

He tried to stand up.

"Argh!" he groaned, slumping back to the ground. He felt sharp pain through his leg.

He looked down at his legs. Both were broken and crushed beyond repair.

"He closed his eyes in despair."

He remembered he had been working almost day and night for a whole week, exhausted, and had fallen asleep.

Now, he found himself in this unfamiliar forest, surrounded by towering trees. To make matters worse, a pack of wolves was ready to devour him, and he was powerless to resist.

But suddenly, amidst his despair, a mechanical voice echoed inside his mind.

"Ding! Congratulations."

"The Divine Summon System is now fully integrated with the host."

"Ding! Congratulations."

"You receive the system gift pack."

"You receive a Premium Summoning Card, Excellent Grade Mythril Sword, and a High Level Healing Potion."

"The received items will automatically be placed inside the system inventory."

Lucien's eyes snapped open, the despair that had clouded them replaced by a newfound determination and hope.

He clicked the system interface option in front of him.

The system interface expanded, revealing four options: Summon, System Shop, System Inventory, and Personal Status.

Without hesitation, he opened the System Inventory and thought about taking out the Premium Summoning Card he received. Surprisingly, it appeared in his hands.

He had no time. The wolves, who had been twenty meters away, were now only ten meters from him.

But there was a problem, he didn't know how to use the Summoning Card.

He looked at the card and saw the description: "Please say 'Use the Premium Summoning Card', and the card will randomly summon a Legendary or Mythical Rank Servant or Mount."

"Use the Premium Summoning Card!" Lucien said immediately. The wolves were about to launch at him, but he managed to activate the card just in time.

Soon, the Premium Summoning Card glowed in a rainbow light and vanished as a beam of rainbow light fell from the sky beside him.

A rainbow portal shimmered into existence, and from it stepped a snow-colored fox, its purple eyes sparkling, and nine tails swaying gracefully.

The wolves launched themselves at Lucien, but the fox intercepted them, tearing the head off one with a single swipe of its paw.

With a blur of white, the remaining wolves were either bitten on the neck or torn apart by the swing of its paw. The fox dispatched them with swift and brutal efficiency.

Watching the scene unfold, Lucien couldn't help but be amazed. He looked at the fox gratefully, acknowledging its role in saving his life.

He already knew this wasn't a dream, but reality.

Though he was from Earth, he had no attachments to anyone there. He had been an orphan and a solitary soul, someone who preferred the company of solitude over crowds.

He then retrieved the high-level healing potion from his system inventory, unscrewed the gourd, and without hesitation, he drank it all.

To his astonishment, his broken legs were miraculously fixed, and all of his injuries vanished within minutes.

He breathed a sigh of relief, thankful to be alive. He tried to stand up, his legs trembling slightly, but with a determined push, he managed to get to his feet.

"Master, it's good that you're fine. When I saw you before, I was really worried," the fox said, sighing in relief.

Lucien was surprised. He looked up to see the magnificent fox standing before him.

"He didn't expect that the fox could speak."

"Thank you for saving me," Lucien said sincerely.

"Master, you don't need to thank me. It was my duty as your servant to protect you," the fox said, a little flustered.

"Do you have a name? I want to communicate with you in a better way. So, I can't just call you Foxy or something like that, right?"

"You're right, Master, but I don't have a name, and I don't know what to call myself either.

So, please, Master, pick me a suitable name. I want a name that I like, but I don't know how to describe it. Can you suggest a name for me to choose, Master?"

Lucien watched her elegant movements, her magnificent form with at least two-meters tall, and contemplated for a while.

"What about Fei?" he said, looking at the fox, gauging her reaction to the name.

"Fei, hmm...," she raised her paw to her chin. "I think this name suits me well, Master."

"From now on, my name will be Fei," she whispered, a strange glow illuminating her eyes.

"Thank you, Master, for giving me a suitable name," she said, about to kneel down.

But Lucien waved his hand. "Get up," he said, stopping her from kneeling down in the moist ground.

She walked forward, rubbing her head against Lucien's chest affectionately.

Lucien also rubbed her head, and as he did, he caught a scent.

He sniffed the air, soon realizing what the metallic smell was – blood.

"Fei, let's go. This place is not safe. The smell of blood will surely attract other beasts to our location," Lucien said urgently.

Fei, understanding what he meant, nodded.

"Master, get on my back," she said, lowering her body slightly to allow Lucien to ride on her back.

Lucien nodded. "But before that, I need to take those wolf corpses. Their meat is necessary for our survival," he said.

"Especially, I don't know anything about this world. I don't want to experience what happened to me again – dying without resistance," he added.

Actually, he hadn't felt any sense of loss or disappointment about being transmigrated to this world.

Instead, he felt a surge of happiness within him. He felt free, excited, like he could do anything he wanted. He loved this feeling. He thought about it.

Since he had been given a chance in this world to do anything he desired, why not try it? He said, raising his hand towards the distant mountain, visible between the leaves, and tried to grasp at it.

"If I want to do what I want in this world, a world whose name I don't even know, I need to become stronger. Strong enough to rule this world," he said, his eyes ablaze with excitement and determination.

Afterwards, he mounted Fei's back and they disappeared towards the distance.

Standing before the cave entrance, a tall, thin man with monkey cheeks scrutinized the map in his hand.

His name was Agu, a member of the Blood Scorpion Mercenary. He had traveled alone through the treacherous Whispering Mountain, driven by a single purpose: to find the location of the Ancient Ruin marked on his map. And he had succeeded.

"This is it, this is the place," he declared with a triumphant grin.

He let out a hearty laugh, but quickly composed himself and walked inside the cave. The cave wasn't deep, its end visible from the entrance.

As he walked, Agu ran his hands along the cave walls, as if searching for something. A few minutes later, he was caressing the smooth stone.

"Push," he muttered, pressing against a square-shaped section of the wall.

The wall yielded inward, causing the entire cave to tremble. A sound of stone grinding against stone echoed through the cavern.

A passage leading downward soon became visible at the edge of the cave.

"Hahaha, Hahaha!" Agu laughed, unable to contain his excitement. He knew the ruin was likely to be dangerous, but the thrill of discovery was too great.

Although he longed to claim the treasures within the ruins, he knew he didn't have the strength to explore it alone.

He had no choice but to report his find to their leader.

"I just hope the boss would treat me well for this great merit of mine," he murmured dejectedly.

"But, if I left, what if someone finds this place?" Agu was worried.

"I need to cover the entrance first and go back to report, then come back with the boss."

He walked out of the cave and began gathering materials. He cut down a few trees and collected a pile of leaves to cover the passageway leading into the ruin. It was a manageable task, as the passage was narrow – only wide enough for two people to enter side by side.

After covering the passageway, Agu dug up soil and carefully concealed it. With the entrance secured, he set off to report his discovery. He needed to return quickly, after all, staying in the Whispering Mountain at night could be perilous.

As for Lucien and Fei, they continued to make their way out of the area. While riding on Fei's back, he decided to check his personal status.
