Chapter 1: A New Beginning

Fiona walked quietly through the woods, her mind still haunted by the recent events within her clan. As a member of the Ferocious, she had always followed the path set by her ancestors: loyalty, discipline, strength. But lately, doubts had begun to arise within her, questions without answers that slowly gnawed at her.

That morning, the wind blew gently, causing the leaves on the trees to tremble all around her. The sunlight barely pierced through the thick foliage, giving the forest a calm, almost peaceful appearance. It was a stark contrast to the constant tensions between her clan and the Nocturnes, their rivals. These tensions were omnipresent, an invisible weight pressing down on every member of the Ferocious.

Fiona had always believed that this conflict was a part of her life, that it was inevitable. But today, something seemed to have changed. She had escaped from her village for no particular reason, just to get some fresh air, to breathe a little away from the hustle and bustle of her daily life. Away from the fights, the conspiracies, and the familiar faces that constantly reminded her of who she was supposed to be.

She stopped for a moment, observing her surroundings. Not a sound, except for the murmur of the wind and the distant song of a bird. She sat down on a rock, closing her eyes to enjoy this moment of calm. Thoughts tangled in her mind, but she forced herself to ignore them. After all, there was no room for doubt in her world.

Suddenly, a noise shattered the tranquility of the forest. Cracking branches, a furtive movement in the bushes. Fiona immediately straightened, her senses on high alert. She was not alone.

She jumped to her feet, her heart racing a little faster. Her gaze focused on the source of the sound, but there was nothing—just the shadows of the trees moving slowly under the wind's breath. It was probably nothing serious, but Fiona knew better than to underestimate the dangers lurking in the forest, especially so close to the Nocturnes' territory.

She resumed walking, now more cautious, moving at a slower pace, watching every movement, listening to every sound. Minutes passed, but nothing came to disturb her calm.

Then, suddenly, she saw a figure in the distance, barely visible through the trees. A shiver ran down her spine. This was not one of her comrades. It was a Nocturne.

Fiona froze, hesitating for a moment. Such encounters were never without risk. She could turn back, disappear into the shadows, or…

The figure slowly turned, and Fiona recognized the face of the one she feared the most: Kane, heir to the enemy clan. He was staring at her, a slight smile on his lips, but his gaze was cold, almost calculating.

"You seem far from home, Fiona," he said in a calm voice, almost too calm.

Fiona kept her distance, her mind on high alert. "I could ask you the same question, Kane," she replied, trying to keep her tone firm.

He shrugged, as if this kind of confrontation was merely a formality. "I'm just passing through," he said. "I have no intention of staying."

The two stared at each other in silence for a moment. There was no apparent hostility in the air, just this strange neutrality floating between them. Fiona wondered what it meant. The Nocturnes were known for their arrogance and violence, but Kane was... different. He wasn't like the others.

Finally, he made a slight gesture with his hand, as if to break the contact. "I won't keep you any longer. But know that this war is not what you think it is."

Without another word, he turned and walked away, disappearing between the trees as suddenly as he had appeared. Fiona stood there, watching the spot where he had vanished, disturbed. This encounter was unlike any other.

She shook her head, trying to focus on what she had just experienced. She couldn't let herself be distracted by these unexpected meetings, these rare moments of calm. The conflict between the Ferocious and the Nocturnes was far from over.

But despite everything, one small detail troubled her: Kane hadn't given her the impression of being an enemy.
