No world was perfect. Especially not this one. A world filled with violence where not even possessing immense magic was enough to save a soul. There were demons, beasts, savage men and yet none of them could even compare to Akito.
Now Akito had a very average yet decently muscular build. He had faced so many opponents in battle yet none could touch him. In this world where power isn't enough to guarantee survival it was as if Akito was at the pinnacle of power.
As Akito was walking out in a clear blue sky a magic circle appeared right under his feet. Wasting no time he quickly jumps out of the way avoiding the explosion that came from the magic circle almost immediately. Keeping his guard up, Akito pulls out his trusty blade. An oddly curved black dagger with his right hand. His blue eyes glowing darkly scanning for any threats. Yet nothing happens. Akito starts thinking to himself.
Akito's inner thoughts: Alright who set that trap up? Was it for me? No. It couldn't be. I can't think of anyone in particle that has a grudge against me. Perhaps just an old magic war mine?
Suddenly Akito's thoughts are interrupted as he barely dodges a laser attack that he was not ready for and turns to face the target. Akito's eyes narrowed as he saw a man with his finger smoking as the man fired another beam only for it to be effortlessly dodged by Akito. As Akito jumps and slides back several feet. His curved black dagger still in his hand as Akito scowled at the attacker standing just several feet ahead of him.
Akito: Hey, what the fuck is your problem man?! Are you trying to kill me?
Without warning another magic circle appeared underneath Akito's feet just like before. Once again Akito jumped back far to avoid the incoming explosion.
Akito: Hey! Stop this! What is wrong with...
Before Akito could finish another magic circle appeared and another and so on. Akito was now doing back flips just to save himself from all the explosions and seemed to be getting further away from the enemy. However at just a glimpse with his blue eyes he saw a flicker of the man and guarded himself from the kick as he was pushed back hard but still managed to land on his feet.
The man scoffed in admiration at Akito's ability to hold his ground. As Akito's opponent finally spoke.
Dorenga: My name is Dorenga and I'm going to finally put an end to you demon.
Akito looked at this Dorenga guy dumbfounded.
Akito: Demon? You attack me without warning and somehow I'm the demon?
Dorenga growled in frustration.
Dorenga: Shut up demon!
As Dorenga pulled out his sword and bolted straight towards Akito. Akito stood his ground and parried each attack with his own handy blade. Their movements were quite fast and blinding. As just the force of their clashes was causing great damage to the environment around them. However Akito did not yield and pushed back as hard as he was being pushed by Dorenga.
Dorenga: You're not too bad for a demon.
Akito: You must have grown up friendless your whole life. Cause who would want to be friends with such a bad mouther like you?
The two jump back. Both eyeing each other as if waiting for the other to attack.
Akito: What's wrong? Did your little ambush trick not work.
Dorenga: You talk to much for a demon.
Akito: I am not a demon.
Dorenga: Who do you think you are fooling? *He says with a wave of his own blade* Do you think I don't know who you are?
Akito: *raises an eyebrow as he speaks* And who might I be to you?
Dorenga: *Dorenga charges in for the kill as he speaks in anger* You're the bastard who is responsible for all the missing women and children in these woods aren't you?!
Akito effortlessly blocks the attack and kicks Dorenga back who still manages to land on his feet.
Akito: Listen buddy I don't know what's going on but I have no interest in your personal affairs. Leave me the hell out of this. I was only passing by.
Dorenga: Shut your mouth up you stupid fraud. Once I kill you I'll search your memories to find what you did with the women and children of my village and become a hero! *Laughs maniacally*
Akito thinks to himself: Is this guy for real? Come to think of it I did hear a case of a missing woman and her two children. It's none of my business. Yet. I am somehow a target of a crime I didn't do.
Akito: Dorenga, wasn't it?
Dorenga: Yeah, why?
Akito: hmph. Alright you want to talk? We'll talk. But first. *Drops his dagger and kicks out of the way as he cracks his neck* Let me show you what real power is.
As Dorenga's eyes twitched in anger he dared to charge again for the kill however he was stuck. There was no magic circle underneath him and even the sky was clear yet as if his feet were a part of the earth he couldn't move his feet at all. Dorenga gets frustrated and confused.
Dorenga: What the hell kind of sorcery is this? *Smirks condescendingly* It doesn't matter. As long as I take my shoes off!
Just as Dorenga bends down his body freezes in place in a crouched position.
Dorenga: What the hell have you done to me?
Akito: You did this to yourself. Now, like I said I am only passing by I have no interest in...
Dorenga: *Interrupts with an angry snap in his voice.* Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Just die demon!
Suddenly magic circles appeared everywhere. From ground level to the very sky above. All were pointing at Akito with much magical intensity. As Dorenga smirked coldly.
Dorenga: Ahahahahahahaha! You fool! Did you really think stopping my movements would break me?! You're even dumber than you look. *With a wicked glint all of Dorenga's magic circles glowed with killing intensity* Now strike down this demon!
Just when it seemed like Akito was trapped suddenly all magic circles closed back up in space.
Dorenga: What the... but, how? *Dorenga just stared confused at what had happened* My magic circles. My attacks. What the hell did you do with them?!
Akito stood quietly for a moment before responding.
Akito: Fine. I'll explain.
As the silence grew heavy Dorenga thought to himself: This doesn't make sense. I can't move and even worse I can't feel any of my magic.
Dorenga: What have you done to my magic? Why can't I call it forth?
Akito finally breaks the silence after what seems like an eternity.
Akito: There are many with thousands or more abilities. However, my one ability beats them all.
Dorenga stared back puzzled and dumbfounded.
Dorenga: You're one ability? And what might that be, that would allow you to take away my powers and seal my movement?
Akito: I can seal away anything.
Dorenga raises an eyebrow and scoffs unimpressed.
Dorenga: That's it? Just a little sealing magic? *Smirks confidently* In that case I'll just have to break out of this with my spirit.
Akito watches with an almost amused yet bored look as Dorenga tries to get his body to move to no avail. Finally after what seemed like hours Dorenga started coughing out of control as he couldn't scream himself out of the position he was in and he still didn't have his magic. He was as exhausted as he was frustrated as he spoke with heavy breaths in between.
Dorenga: What the...? Why... The hell... Can't I... Moooooooove?!
Akito: I'm sorry was I not speaking clearly? I sealed your movements remember.
Dorenga scoffed with such over confidence.
Dorenga: Is that supposed to insult me? No matter the danger. I always prevail. You may think it's all pointless. However it only comes pointless when you give up!
Dorenga looked up Akito with fierce determination. His red eyes staring daringly at Akito with a strong willpower.
Akito: Listen. I didn't take anyone and I certainly am not letting you scan my brain.
*Dorenga's eyes flashed with annoyance and anger*
Dorenga: You coward! If you have nothing to hide then why are you so afraid of me taking a peak inside your memory?
Akito replied calmly and almost sad like.
Akito: It's because the things I've had to endure. And the things I've experienced... *He pauses for a moment not batting an eye at the still frozen like Dorenga* I wouldn't wish it on even the worst of people.
Suddenly Dorenga collapsed on the ground and got up as Akito turned around and started walking away. Dorenga looked down at his hands in grim disappointment. He knew that he wasn't strong enough to break out of the seal and suddenly he regained his magic. Yet somehow he knew that Akito was willfully giving him back his power.
Dorenga: Stop!
Akito stopped for a moment as he spoke with a tone of warning.
Akito: Don't try to engage me anymore. *He says as he finds his blade he kicked away much earlier* This is your only warning . I only gave you your power back out of pity. If I see another magic circle or you try to fire another beam attack at me again. I'll seal your movements and magic again and this time. I'll cut your head off.
Dorenga stared at Akito's back as he started to walk away before rushing towards him, cutting him off and bowing down apologetically.
Dorenga: Wait! Please don't go. Look if what you are saying is true please help us. Nearly a third off all the women and children from my village have disappeared. And before you say that you don't care or that it doesn't concern you. I don't care about that. Your power is undoubtedly the strongest thing I've ever faced. It was as if I was powerless completely. No. Rather I was powerless against you. Still I beg of you. Please help me!
As the wind blew there was nothing but silence before Akito finally broke the silence.
Akito: Rise up, Dorenga. *He watches as Dorenga gets back up on his feet* Fine. I'll help you with your little quest. However I don't ever want to see you again afterwards. Are we clear?
Dorenga's eyes widened before settling down and giving a determined nod.
Akito: Alright, explain everything from the top.
Dorenga: Right. Ten days ago A young woman and her four year old son went missing in the woods. At first we assume they got lost however...
Akito: However?
Dorenga: Only five days later a few teachers and all of their students. Nearly thirty of them disappeared all at once. Since yesterday the number is about 100. I knew whoever was kidnapping these women and children may have some powerful magic. So seeing you...
Akito: You attacked me because you thought I was the one responsible for all the missing women and children.
Dorenga: I'm truly sorry.
Akito: *sighs* It's fine. Let's go back to the very beginning. When the first woman and child had disappeared was there anything suspicious about anyone you knew? Can you think of any unusual behaviors from any of your comrades?
Dorenga: No. In fact everyone in my village was eager to help find the woman and child. By now Men are locking up their own wives and children. Of course it's not what it sounds like.
Akito: No. *He took a deep breath and exhaled* I totally understand. With such a rapid number of women and children disappearing into the woods it only makes sense that the men would be so overly protective and trap their women and children. Presumably in the safety of their own homes. however...
Dorenga: However?
Akito: You said that you could search my memories. How far back can you go?
Dorenga: A year at best, however it takes a lot of energy to do it.
Akito nods as he rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Akito: Have you ever thought of searching the memories of your comrades to see if they may be hiding something.
Dorenga raises an eyebrow as he takes a step back.
Dorenga: Listen there are a lot of people in my village. What makes you think I'll be able to search the memories of every single one?
Akito: You don't have to. You could bluff.
Dorenga: *tilts his head in confusion for a moment.* Bluff?
Akito: Yes, bluff. Don't use your powers. Instead tell everyone that you need to search their memories to prove their innocence. If you truly are the village hero I have no doubt that others will comply. However if one refuses. Or gets really defensive. Or even starts saying things like; How do we know you aren't the culprit and causing a fuss to control us? Check their memories instead. Most likely the real culprit will try to avoid having their memories checked.
Dorenga nods clearly liking the idea. As he smirks with confidence.
Dorenga: Very well. Let's go.
Akito: *sighs* What have I gotten myself into?
Dorenga starts to laugh heartily as the two of them start walking together. Whatever Akito's original plan was, was now being interrupted to help this man on his quest.
Eventually the two reached the village.
Dorenga: Welcome to Dorengaville. The village I was named after.
Akito: Well this just got interesting.
As they walked down the village road now night time. Akito's eyes widened in surprise at how busy and lively it was. However there was nothing but men around. Which made sense given the situation before.
Dorenga: Well good luck with the plan from earlier. It will take me a lifetime to ask everyone if I can scan their memories and find the culprit..And what if all of them say no. Does that mean that all of them are guilty?
Akito looks around thinking for a moment and suddenly gets an idea.
Akito: Dorenga.
Dorenga: Yes Akito, what is it?
Akito: Do you have any other magic al abilities.
Dorenga: No. Aside from spatial magic, summoning magic and memory search magic I have virtually nothing.
Akito: Hmm... This does make our goal harder now come to think of it... Wait a minute.
Dorenga: What is it?
Akito: We need bait.
Dorenga: Bait? Like a catfish or a worm?
Akito shakes his head as he whispers quietly to Dorenga.
Akito: Human bait.
Dorenga raises an eyebrow at the realization of what Akito means.
Dorenga: Are you seriously suggesting we sacrifice one of our own as a pawn?
Akito: *nods* The fact is the culprit is clearly someone who likes or hates women and children very much. Unless you have a better idea.
Dorenga was silent for a moment before snapping his fingers and smirking confidently.
Dorenga: Actually I just might have an idea.
Later that night they went back to the woods. Both were in dresses, wearing makeup, long haired wigs and fresh coconuts for breasts. Akito looked at Dorenga in almost disapproval. It was a clever strategy to pretend that they were two lost women but Akito couldn't help but feel sick.
Akito: I look ridiculous.
Dorenga: Actually you're kind of cute. *He says jokingly*
Akito: Shut up or I'll seal you again.
Dorenga: Ok ok fine you win jeez. You're such a bore.
Suddenly they both hear a noise like the crunch of a stick and nod at each other in determination as they try to bait the predator. Both scream as loud as they can in the most feminine voice they could.
Dorenga: Oh! I'm a poor scared woman out in the woods! Whatever will I do?!
Akito: Oh help! Please! We're lost!
Suddenly an invisible paralyzing force traps both of them in place.
Dorenga: What the hell is this?!
Akito: Paralyzing magic. I think our trick worked a little too well. Show yourself now you coward!
Suddenly a figure appeared from the shadows.
The mysterious man: Well well well, what do we have hear. It thought I caught me some damsels in distress but it's a couple of men in wigs.
As Akito stares cold and lifeless at the man still paralyzed Dorenga's eyes blaze with fury.
Dorenga: Are you the one who has been stealing all of our women and children?!
The mysterious man chuckles with dark amusement laughing with such evilness. As he talks with such a loud twisted grin.
The mysterious man: And so what if I am?! Is it my fault if their flesh is so delectable?! Grown men like yourself don't have the refined taste that I crave! I've slaughtered thousands throughout the country. And there is nothing you weaklings can do about it! Nothing!
Dorenga:*in anger* You're lying!
The mysterious man: You know what I'm saying is true. Don't you?
Suddenly the man is speed blitzed by both Akito and Dorenga. As the mysterious man got back up confused.
The mysterious man: What? But how?! I used my magic to paralyzed you!
Dorenga starts laughing loudly with pride.
Dorenga: What makes you think such weak magic can hold me down?
Akito: All I did was seal your power away.
The mysterious man's eyes widened in shock. As he realized his power was all gone. All of a sudden he couldn't move. As the man stared at Akito in fear.
The mysterious man: What is this power?!
Akito: My ability is called true infinite seal. For there is nothing I can't seal or sever. Now as for you. I'm not one to eat humans but I have an idea of how they are prepared for a meal.
Suddenly a magic circle appears right under the man's frozen body as he is engulfed in blue and black flames. As he cries out in pain Dorenga explains in a menacing tone.
Dorenga: These are the blue flames of healing and the black flames of hell. You will now continue to burn but won't die until I decide so.
After 8 long hours Dorenga finally subsided the blue flames and let the man get turned to ash by the black flames before letting the magic circle disappear.
Dorenga soon headed home before waving goodbye to Akito he spoke.
Dorenga: I'm sorry you had to see that. However I don't know what to tell the others.
As Akito walked away he responded trying to mask the horrors he had to witness yet again in his life.
Akito: Tell them that the culprit is dead and that their women and children are in a better place now.
As the two walked away Dorenga looked down in pain and guilt but Akito just kept looking forward as if nothing happened. To Dorenga it was the most painful day of his life. But to Akito it was just another day in the cruel world he was a part of.
Dorenga stopped for a moment and turned around speaking loud enough for Akito to hear and stop.
Dorenga: Hold on. I still have a question for you. Akito.
