Chapter 1 - chapter 1: birth

ARTEMIS POV:

Artemis was always a calm and collected goddess. She was over 800 years old, having been born on the island of Delos, where she helped her mother give birth to her younger brother. She had to push those thoughts out of her head; they had been arguing since the day her brother was born. They grew up and took on their domains, but it wasn't until about 100 years ago that she started helping the other goddess of the moon, Selene. Artemis found it troublesome, and she and Helios both found it tiring after the death of his son in his "chick magnet" incident.

Artemis had recently been made the 8th Olympian on the council after Apollo, the god of limericks that could drive anyone insane, and Ares, the god who got stabbed by mortals and ran home crying to Mom and Dad. She smirked slightly at the thought while standing at the edge of her camp, watching the sunset. It was a bright orange, and she couldn't help but smirk at her brother and his antics, though their father had nearly blasted him off Olympus when Apollo had slept with a nymph who was off-limits—cough cough.

She turned and saw her current lieutenant, Ray, a daughter of Poseidon and a mortal princess from a small Greek city. Ray had been with her for over 700 years and had been exiled from her home long ago before joining Artemis's hunt. She was loyal and would not hesitate to sacrifice her life for her companions. Zeus was angry because it couldn't be one of his daughters. Ray had trained under an odd centaur named Chiron—he wasn't like his brethren, the party ponies or something. Regardless, Ray was everything Artemis could ask for in a sister and companion.

They were tracking the Titans Hyperion and Crius, who had somehow escaped their prison. Artemis had been searching for them to either bring them back to Olympus or send them to Tartarus. She was waiting for nightfall before she and a few other gods would ambush them in a place called the Graveyard of Primordials.

ATHENA POV:

Father Zeus, Poseidon, Apollo, and I were going to ambush the Titans in the Graveyard of Primordials. It was the place where they came to fight, and some had even died there. It was also the place where Kronos had been chopped up. What a nice place…

POSEIDON POV:

I was walking alongside Zeus, neither of us speaking. The hunters had been captured, and we walked toward Ray. I smiled at Zeus and smirked, saying, "My daughter." He looked back coldly before thundering away. Ray bowed and said, "My lords, my lady has already left. You should hurry if you want to catch up." Boom! Zeus flashed away, and I sighed, leaning on my trident. Why wasn't I the god of theater? I dispelled the mist, washing away the ozone with a salty smell.

ARTEMIS POV:

I was walking through the forest, coming behind a cavern. I put my hands against the cold, grimy gold and silver walls. As I touched them, I realized it was the blood of immortals. I took a moment to speak to the wall, hoping the spirits within had found peace. I walked away but didn't notice the walls trembling slightly. I entered a space that seemed to stretch for miles in height and width. The walls and ceiling were covered with the blood and flesh of primordials.

As I walked, I sensed something behind me. In a split second, I drew my hunting knife and ran toward Crius. But before I could react fully, a spear pierced my stomach. I could hear my ribs shattering and my flesh breaking as golden blood spilled to the floor. I spat out blood, and before I could process it, the spear was quickly pulled out. I collapsed to the floor on my back as the golden titan smiled at me and pierced a second spear through my stomach. I coughed up a mouthful of blood, and he grinned. "Your blood will go nicely with the walls."

ZEUS POV:

Titans are annoying. We had already beaten them. I was having a bad day—Hera had found out about my child with that princess, and I had turned her into a snake. She was currently looking to send monsters after him. However, I supposed sending Titans to Tartarus was a good way to relieve stress. Poseidon, Athena, Ares, and Apollo were with me, and Ares, my idiot son, was yelling about blood and guts. We ran quickly and entered the cage, where I saw my daughter on the floor, bleeding out. My eyes turned red with rage as I attacked, blasting the Titans away with lightning. "Save your sister!" I yelled at Apollo. "I'll deal with them." My body filled with lightning as I rushed toward the Titans and monsters surrounding Poseidon and Artemis, who followed closely behind.

APOLLO POV:

I ran faster than I ever had, at the speed of light. I told my mind to shut up—this wasn't the time for jokes. I reached my sister's side and immediately began to remove the spear. I worked quickly to patch up her chest and stomach. But then I noticed the light in her eyes fading. I screamed, "No! No!" as Zeus and the others arrived. Before her eyes closed slowly, she whispered, "I love you." Everyone had tears in their eyes—even Ares—when suddenly, a light flashed, enveloping the room.

ATHENA POV:

After the sudden light, I looked up to see that most of the blood had disappeared from the walls. A surge of strength rushed through me—about 25%. I looked around, and the others felt the same. Artemis was looking about the same as Hades now, with me, Ares, and Apollo at about 70%. But then I noticed a little girl. She was the cutest thing I'd ever seen—about 3 or 4 years old. Her hair glowed white, and her eyes shimmered in every color of the rainbow, an infinite depth to them. She looked up at me, raised her arms, and said, "Mama!" I immediately felt a threat from her gaze, as if she could destroy me with a single look.

ARTEMIS POV:

I woke up, looking around at my surroundings. I saw my father, uncle, brother, and half-siblings around me, and then I noticed the strange girl. She had beautiful glowing white hair and the cutest face I'd ever seen. Her eyes were every color of the rainbow, infinite in their depth. She looked up at me and put her arms out, saying, "Mama!" And just like that, I passed out.
