Chapter 5: The Bitter Truth
Reggie and Detective James leave Archibald's home to launch a full investigation. They have solved the Archibald mystery and are on the verge of solving the mystery of the missing word. On the way back to the vehicle, Inspector James turned to Reggie. "You know, I think we're getting closer to the truth," he said. "But I have a few questions."
Reggie nodded. "What's wrong?"
Tirotiro James wasted no time. "Well, I want to know what the reason for the theft is, so how could someone steal the necklace and leave clues so that Archibald can be found?"
Reggie thought for a moment. "This thief wants to cut Archibald," he thought. Tiro Tiro James nodded. "perhaps." But what if the thieves hadn't said they were going to build Archibald? "What if they want to trick us into committing a serious crime?"
Reggie's eyes widened. "What if Archibald isn't clean?"
Tiro Tiro James nodded. "That's correct." What if Archibald was a fan of the game? Reggie was busy. He had been sure that the man who had stolen it was Archibald, but now, he was not so sure. While returning to the police station, Detective James received a call from the lab. "Why did you fall?" he asked, listening attentively. Reggie saw his expression change from joy to fear. "What's that?" Reggie asked nervously. James turned and looked her in the eyes. "Here are the DNA results," he said. "It doesn't match Archibald's DNA."
Reggie's eyes widened. "What?" "Whose DNA is this?"
Tirotiro James wasted no time. "...Emma's DNA."
Reggie looked like he'd been stabbed in the stomach. Emma was the last person he thought of, a quiet and reserved girl. "Why did Emma steal the necklace?" Reggie asked confused. Inspector James shook his head. "I don't know, but I think he should be taken in for questioning."
Reggie was very upset when Emma was taken in for questioning. He trusted Emma, and he couldn't believe she had betrayed that trust. But as he begins to ask Emma questions, Reggie realizes there's more to the story than he initially thought. "I didn't buy this necklace for myself," Emma said, her voice shaking. I robbed someone. Reggie's eyes widened. "WHO?"
Emma started and looked around in horror. "I stole Lucy."
Reggie's eyes widened in horror. Was his crime-solving partner Lucy involved in the theft?
Reggie's mind raced as he tried to process the visions. The one Lucy trusted and the one who stole it? He doesn't believe it.
"Lucy, is this true?" Reggie asked in a trembling voice.
Lucy looked up, her face full of guilt and anger. "Yes, it is," he said. "But the truth is not what you think."
Reggie narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"
Lucy took a deep breath. "They tricked me into stealing the necklace," he said. "Some threatened to destroy my family if I didn't do it.
Reggie will stay. He didn't think Lucy would behave like this if forced.
"Who surprised you?" Reggie asked loudly. Lucy hesitated. "I don't know," he said. "They called me anonymously."
Reggie narrowed his eyes. "We'll find out who he is," he said. "We will make sure they are compensated for the work they do."
