Kyler was discharged after two days in the morning and driven by Tommy to his boss' mansion. She still couldn't understand why she had been brought to such a big house when she had planned to stay at the hotel. She even had a personal maid, Bridgit. She was received with warm hands and beautiful smiles from her and the butler. However, apart from them, the house big and large, was empty.
She was shown to her room by Bridgit and was very pleased. The room was beautifully painted with blue and green. The beautiful art hanging on the walls were calming and soothing. She was so happy when she drew the curtains and was greeted by a good view of the landscape around her not mentioning the balcony filled with all sorts of cozy furniture and flower vessels hanging from the roof. It was more than she could have asked from whoever this was. She was solely used to depending on herself for her own happiness, but this was touching.
She walked to the bathroom and was shocked to find a walk-in closet full of clothes and everything she would have needed. She got emotional seeing that caring really existed. She was used to all the luxury, but she never had someone to bring the luxury to her. She always did her own shopping and yeah, she could just order or get people to do all that for her, but she was just not those type of girls who ordered people and used their wealth on everything.
She smiled brightly at Bridgit and sat at the king-sized bed, but her smile vanished suddenly. What ifs filled her mind. What if it was a mistaken identity? What if this was just part of an evil plan? What if...
"Ma'am, I think you're exhausted. You can take a nap, and I'll wake you up during lunch." Bridgit offered sweetly. She didn't know that Kyler felt uneasy and wanted so bad to know why she was in such a house. It somehow didn't feel right and when she saw Bridgit leaving, she asked,
"Why am I here?"
"I actually can't tell you anything. Not even Jerremy the butler can. We were given strict instructions to take good care of you only. Mr. Henry will be back at dinner, and you will talk then." she replied and hurriedly left. Clearly avoiding any more questions. Truly, the boredom was too much with no one to talk to and she wished she had had some luggage to unpack. That would have kept Bridgit longer and they would have got to know each other.
Anyways, she slept immediately Bridgit left and had woken up when she had the door creak shut. She sat down and it was dark when she opened her eyes. She had slept through lunch and the whole afternoon. She felt relaxed. Too relaxed than she had felt in a long time. She crawled off the bed and stood up patting the wall. She couldn't find the bedside lamp she had seen. She remembered the curtains and continued walking again when she remembered her phone.
She started back towards the bed and located her phone. While on the bed, she turned the torch on and at the same time, Bridgit came to check on her. The torch pointed straight at the door and Kyler was flustered to see her and screamed. Bridgit switched on the lights and quickly hugged her. She was a warm woman.
"I am sorry ma'am for startling you. Please calm down. Mr. Henry just arrived and is asking for you at the dining table. Would you like to freshen up?" she asked comforting her.
"A hot bath would be good." Kyler answered. Bridgit helped her prepare to fasten things up afraid of keeping her boss waiting. As she helped her out of the bathtub, she suddenly blubbered to her.
"I found Mr. Henry ogling at you. It was cute. As his chef I've never seen him empathize with a lady to the point of bringing her here." she said smiling at her as she wore a grey dress with a low back which she refused and changed to a baggy short shirt with a baggy jean. Her fashion her style.
They left her room in exactly thirty minutes and found Mr. Henry sitted in the living room with his back to them. Kyler found nothing wrong and proudly walked to the dining and sat down. She had just spread the napkin on her laps when Mr. Henry called the butler by his name and sked him to call Bridgit.
Hearing that, Bridgit walked to him silently and stood beside him.
"What's taking so long?" he asked clearly irritated.
"Sir, she's there eating." she said pointing at where Kyler sat. He slowly stood up and turned to her. She was sitting with her back to him and munching happily. Her head kept bobbing from side to side.
"So, when you're called, you don't mind giving an excuse that you need to do something first? Are you such a glutton?" as he spoke, she turned towards him and all color drained from her face, and she slowly stood up. She moved a step back and her facials changed from a happy one.
"It's you again? So, it was you at the hotel, right? It never felt right to be in this house in the first place. I don't understand what you want from me, but you should know right now all I really want to do is get out of this place. What's your deal with me bytheway. You're a freak. You're this rich and you had time to stalk me. For a whole night. ugh." she said and walked upstairs.
She was frantically searching for her purse when Mr. Henry walked to her room. He leaned against her door frame and watched her and thought she was cute. She's about to leave you and you're there admiring her like a cute rabbit. His inner voice mocked him.
"I brought you here because I happened to be at the hotel when the accident happened in your room. I don't understand what you mean when you say it was me at the hotel. I didn't even know you were there until the ambulance got late and you were in a serious condition. Someone had to volunteer, and I did because I had seen you in the plane. It just felt right to do so. Unfortunately, when I took you to the hospital, they thought I'm your husband and I had to be responsible for your bill. When you were discharged the press had already gotten news of me having a wife and a doctor had leaked the day you were to be discharged. I had no choice but to bring you here." he had told her. Wow!! Did you just lie Mr. CEO? Just to stop a girl from leaving? And what was that? A confession or? You've never spoken to anyone those many lines.
Shut up before I shout at you, he told his inner voice. Shout. I dare you to shout and you'll see the woman you now want in your life leave because she doesn't want to live with a psychopath. All Mr. Henry could do was ignore it and lower his ego. He walked to her bed where she sat fidgeting with her purse which she had just found under her pillow. She was almost crying.
"What's wrong? you look sad." he told her as he sat on the fluffy sofa opposite her bed. His elbows on his knees.
"There something I can't find?"
"What's that?" he asked pressing on.
"Just something personal. Did anyone ever come to my hospital room apart from you?" she asked trying to dig for something.
"It was always me and Adrian who visited you and we never touched your stuff." he said.
"Okay. Though I don't trust you but again if you're this rich why would you steal from anyone?" she retorted. Mr. Henry wanted to avoid this conversation and as soon as it got there, he stood up to leave. He knew what she was looking for but wouldn't dare give it back. Not yet.
"I'll retire to bed. Goodnight" and without waiting for a response stormed out.
