The next morning arrived with a haze of confusion. I'd spent half the night tossing and turning, replaying my dinner with Calvin and wondering what game he was playing. The other half I'd spent trying to finalize the Henderson revisions, fueled by too much coffee and nervous energy.
By the time I arrived at the office, my presentation was polished, but my nerves were frayed.
"You look terrible," Letty announced, appearing in my doorway with two cups of coffee. She handed me one and settled into the chair across from my desk.
"Thanks," I said, accepting the coffee gratefully.
"Late night?" Her eyes shone with curiosity.
I sighed. "Yes."
"Hmmm." Letty lowered her voice. "Did you know that Daniel is in the building right now? Meeting with the board."
I felt sick. "What? Why?"
"No idea, but Bernard is running around like someone set his tie on fire."
