Chapter 1 - The Root's Of Betrayal

My name is Diane Smith. I'm the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith—a family once bound by love, warmth, laughter and unity.

I had everything a child could dream of: a doting father, a brilliant mother, and Dalian, who was my twin,my confidant, and my closest friend.

My father, Smith Jr., was the proud son of Morris Smith, the founder of Smith Co. Ltd. A legacy he inherited from his father, Morris.

My father often spoke about how hard it was for my grandfather to build the company from nothing. The business was his pride, but his family was his joy_especially after waiting ten long years for a child.

My mother, Catherine, was a brilliant doctor, full of warmth and wisdom. Together with my twin sister, Dalian, we were the picture of a perfect family.

But beneath the surface of our happy life lay old wounds, buried secrets, and a rivalry that would one day destroy everything.

It all began with my grandfather, Morris. A self-made man, he built Smith Co. Ltd. from the ground up and dreamed of passing it down to his son. But Morris's journey wasn't without struggle. For ten long years, he and his wife, Linda, longed for a child to complete their family.

But life wasn't always perfect. My grandfather, Morris was desperate for an heir to carry on the family name.

Morris's joy turned to desperation as years passed without an heir. His mother, a strong-willed woman,

Pressured him into marrying another woman, maria hoping she could bear him a child. suggested an unthinkable solution: another wife. "You need a child," she insisted. "Linda has had her chance." Morris refused at first. "I love Linda,"he declared, standing tall before his mother. "I will wait. She's my wife,my partner. No one else." But as time wore on,and pressure mounted he cave. Maria moved into their home as a second wife, and a wedding date was set.

Despite his love for Linda, Morris reluctantly agreed. Maria, a young woman from a wealthy family, was brought into their lives as a potential second wife.

But just as the wedding approached, Linda gave Morris the news he had prayed for: she was pregnant.

Morris's face lit up with joy as Linda placed his hand on her growing belly. "We're going to be parents," she whispered.

Morris face lit up, a mixture of disbelief and uncontainable happiness washing over him. "Are you sure?"he whispered, tears already forming. She nodded, and he pulled her into his arms, laughing like a child. We're going to be parents!"

He hugged her tightly, tears of relief streaming down his face. "You've made me the happiest man alive," he murmured.

Overwhelmed with happiness, Morris broke off the engagement and sent Maria away.

Maria plans to become Mrs. Smith were ruined in an instant.

But fate had other plans. Weeks later, Maria discovered she was also pregnant. She returned using her pregnancy to manipulate Morris demanding: marriage or financial support.

Morris torn but resolute, he refused to marry her. "I will care for you and the child," he told her firmly, "but my heart belongs to Linda." Maria, bitter but pragmatic, signed an agreement securing her child's future but never forgave Morris for rejecting her.

Months later, Linda gave birth to a son, Smith Jr.,

Who was named after our family legacy.

who became the pride of the family. Morris joy was immeasurable. His hands trembled as he cradle his newborn son, he held his son close, his heart swelling with love. "You're my legacy," he whispered, vowing to give him the world, you're everything I've ever dreamed of."

Not long after, Maria gave birth to another son, Lucas. Though Morris provided for them, Maria's resentment festered. She envied Linda's place in the family and the happiness she shared with Morris. Her jealousy soon turned into dangerous obsession, her jealousy festered in her heart, turning it into a ticking time bomb.

One sunny afternoon, Maria saw Smith Jr. playing alone at the park. Playing on a swing and seized her chance. Her lips curled into a cold smile as she pushed the swing higher and higher, aiming for the tree above. Smith's laughter turned to cries as the swing veered dangerously, but a passerby intervened just in time.

Maria's scheme didn't stop there. Her second attempt to harm Smith Jr. Landed her in prison.

Morris, horrified by Maria's actions, took drastic measures. She was sent to prison, and Lucas was brought into the family home to be raised alongside Smith Jr, Lucas grew up with a heart full of resentment, blaming Smith Jr. for his mother's downfall.

Years passed, but the scars of Maria's betrayal lingered. Lucas grew up with a deep resentment for his half-brother, fueled by the belief that Smith had stolen the life that should have been his.

Smith jr.and Lucas grew into men, their childhood rivalry deepening into something darker. They studied abroad together, and upon returning home both joined the family business.

Morris now older and proud of his son's, began planning his retirement.

When he announced his decision to name Smith Jr. As the company's successor, Lucas's jealousy erupted.

Smith Jr., however, blossomed under his father's guidance. He inherited not only Morris's business acumen but also his unwavering determination. As the years went by, he earned his place as the rightful successor to Smith Co. Ltd.

Lucas, on the other hand, felt overshadowed. Despite working in the company, he saw himself as second best, a shadow of his older brother. The rivalry between them grew, stoked by Maria's poisonous influence after her release from prison.

"Lucas," Maria whispered one evening, her eyes gleaming with malice. "That company should be yours. You're his son too."

Maria, embittered and vengeful, saw an opportunity to use Lucas as her weapon. "You deserve more," she whispered to him "The company should be yours.

Lucas clenched his fists, the weight of her words sinking in. "I'll prove it," he muttered. "I'll show them all."

Meanwhile, Smith Jr. found love in a young doctor named Catherine. Their connection was instant, and their love only deepened with time. On their wedding day, Smith's voice trembled with emotion as he vowed, "I will protect you, cherish you, and love you for all my days."

Their happiness grew with the birth of twin daughters, Diane and Dalian. For a time, peace reigned in the Smith household. But shadows from the past loomed ever closer, threatening to shatter the family's fragile harmony.
