Chapter 18 - CEO's Mandatory Care

Although Leonard Winston meant for Rachel Saintclair to change her clothes by herself, Rachel Saintclair adopted an attitude of "do whatever you want, I'm not moving anyway" and stubbornly refused to get up from the bed. Eventually, Leonard Winston had no choice but to change her clothes for her.

After thinking for a while, he put a thick woolen coat over her and then carried her downstairs.

"...What are you doing?" Rachel Saintclair, who was in a daze, knew that she was being carried around by this "beast" Leonard Winston, but she had no idea where they were going. As a patient, her mind had completely shut down.

Leonard Winston didn't say a word, his thin lips pressed tightly together.

He got into the car, shifted gears, and stepped on the gas pedal.

"Where are you taking me?" Rachel Saintclair was a bit panicked. This situation seemed a bit like human trafficking. Could it be that Leonard Winston was going to abandon her while she was feeling unwell? He really was a beast!

Leonard Winston glanced at her. From her frightened expression, he could roughly guess what she was thinking, and he felt even more annoyed.

"To the hospital!"

"What for?" Rachel Saintclair still didn't understand. She was fine. Why suddenly go to the hospital?

"Don't you know you have a fever?" Leonard Winston tried to hold back his temper, but finally couldn't help shouting.

Rachel Saintclair was taken aback. "So it's because of this..." She sighed. "It's just a fever. Taking some medicine and having a rest will be enough. There's no need to make such a fuss."

Leonard Winston looked at Rachel Saintclair's nonchalant attitude and became even angrier.

But he himself didn't quite understand why he was so angry.

Yes, it was just an ordinary fever. Why should he make such a big deal out of it? She wasn't anyone special to him. If it were Elizabeth Collins who was sick, this kind of reaction from him would be normal.

Rachel Saintclair stole a glance at Leonard Winston. Seeing that he didn't say anything, she couldn't help sighing inwardly.

Forget it. Since this young master was condescending to take her to the hospital, she shouldn't be so ungrateful.

"Leo, thank you for caring about me so much." She gave Leonard Winston a sweet smile. Under normal circumstances, this smile would be even more charming and seductive. But now, with her sickly appearance, even though she forced a smile, she still looked rather listless, which made people feel pity for her.

Leonard Winston glared at her. This woman!

"However, I'm really fine." Rachel Saintclair sighed. She tentatively placed her small hand on Leonard Winston's wrist and pleaded with a hint of coquetry, "I'll go back, drink some hot water, and have a good sleep wrapped in the quilt. I'll be fine. Really, Leo. There's no need to go through all this trouble."

Leonard Winston became silent again, just silently stepping on the gas pedal. Rachel Saintclair sighed again upon seeing this. She knew she couldn't persuade him.

The reason she didn't want to go to the hospital was simple. She didn't want to get too involved with Leonard Winston. Leonard Winston's status was special. Wherever he went, countless eyes were closely watching his every move. If people saw him coming to the hospital with a woman... One could only imagine how the rumors would spread.

Just thinking about the possibility of being exposed, Rachel Saintclair felt a headache coming on, and she even wished she could faint from the fever.

But Leonard Winston was determined to take her to the hospital this time. In fact, perhaps he had already regretted it when Rachel Saintclair pleaded with him. But once Mr. Winston decided to do something, how could he go back on his word? Even if it was wrong, he had to follow the wrong path until he reached the right end.

So, Rachel Saintclair had no doubt that Leonard Winston's stubbornness at this moment was because he was contending with his own pitiful self - esteem. It was just too bad for her.

Covington Hospital was quite famous in Bayview City. It was a high - end medical center. And there was an important reason - it was an industry under Winston Group.

Fortunately, Leonard Winston had a conscience and chose his own hospital for treatment. Although the risk of exposure still existed, it was at least minimized.

Before coming, Leonard Winston had already called the hospital director, and various attending doctors had been waiting.

Rachel Saintclair was slumped in the car, really not wanting to move. Mentally and physically, she didn't want to get out of the car.

Unfortunately, the overbearing Mr. Winston would never allow her to stay in the car.

He originally wanted to pull her out as he did last night, but seeing how weak she was, he held back.

With a heave, he picked her up in his arms. Rachel Saintclair struggled in panic for a couple of times, then heard Leonard Winston's calm voice by her ear, "Bury your head in my chest."

"...Huh?" Rachel Saintclair stared at him blankly.

Leonard Winston looked at her idiotic expression and almost rolled his eyes. "If you want to be exposed tomorrow, you can keep looking at me like a lovesick fool."

Rachel Saintclair's sluggish mind finally started to work a little. The word "exposed" brought her back to her senses, especially the word "lovesick" which irritated her. She despised this "beast" in her heart but obediently did as he said.

The reason she had such a high fever was all thanks to this "beast" Leonard Winston! If he hadn't tormented her so much yesterday, she wouldn't have been so weak.

She must have caught a cold in the middle of the night, and then during the trip to get water, her body didn't get proper rest. Especially... the big ups and downs of reuniting with Henry Edwards and being caught having an affair by Leonard Winston. Even if Rachel Saintclair were made of iron, she couldn't withstand such a series of scares and torments.

Probably only Rachel Saintclair would need to call in private doctors for an ordinary fever. This special treatment made the doctors take a few more glances at her.

An IV drip was set up on one side, and medicine was applied to Rachel Saintclair's ankle on the other. The doctor was telling Leonard Winston the precautions, and to Rachel Saintclair's surprise, Leonard Winston listened attentively.

"Stay at home these two days. Don't go out." After the doctor left, this "beast" Leonard Winston casually gave her an order.

"No need. I'll definitely be fine by tomorrow morning."

"Let's talk about that when you get better."

Leonard Winston's unwavering attitude made Rachel Saintclair a bit anxious. "Well, the drawings of Majesty have come out and are about to be finalized. And there has been progress with Sunray. If I take a break, who will take care of the design drawings? Even if you're not in a hurry, Elizabeth will be."

Rachel Saintclair brought up Elizabeth Collins, hoping to suppress Leonard Winston. Sure enough, she saw a hint of hesitation in Leonard Winston's expression. Just when Rachel Saintclair's heart was slightly relieved, Leonard Winston said something astonishing again.

"Majesty isn't in a hurry. There are still two months left anyway. But you, stay at home obediently. Don't go anywhere."

Rachel Saintclair was speechless. "Doctor, I have a headache..."

The matter of Majesty was temporarily put on hold. When Majesty heard that Rachel Saintclair had actually taken a leave of absence and stopped working, everyone in the company was so shocked that they slapped themselves hard, thinking they were dreaming.

What was even more astonishing was that Rachel Saintclair refused everyone's visit and didn't even disclose where she was.

The gossip queen Blair Bennett slapped her forehead. "Rachel's boyfriend is so overbearing!"

Wendy Howard added quietly, "And he's also very rich."

So Rachel Saintclair was at home alone, enjoying this rare vacation. However, although her body was resting, her mood was very complicated.

The thinking of a patient is irrational, and the emotions are unstable. When Rachel Saintclair returned home that day, she even thought that it might as well have been the paparazzi who took pictures of her. So what if she was exposed?
