For the students of Divine Demigod Academy and all other demigods in the world, they set their eyes upon possessing an S rank in Divine Potential. Having such a high potential was the key to becoming one of the strongest demigods in the world.
But the chances of possessing an S rank in Divine Potential were one in a million. Out of all the students present in the hall, there was a chance that not even a single one of them would have an S rank potential. That was why the students were so excited when they heard the first call-up getting a C Rank. She was going to be capable of absorbing fifty percent of Divine Essence from any Daemon she killed. That was an amazing amount of potential, and it was obvious that she was going to go far!
Azrael watched with a stoic look on his face as Grace Delphi walked down from the stage with a wide smile. Azrael didn't clap like the other students, and there was no excitement to be seen on his face. To tell the truth, Azrael didn't even want to be here. Just from the actions of those standing near him, Azrael could tell that the students in high school were going to be just like the ones in middle school.
As a child of Thanatos, Azrael was seen as someone related to the gods of darkness. And even though there were no outright threats or obvious attacks from those around him, the ostracization and scorn from the general demigod populace could be seen on the faces of both students and teachers.
Azrael had no friends, and he lived in a government-funded hostel since he was abandoned by his parents when he was only one year old. The matron at the orphanage told Azrael not to hold it against his parents, that maybe they were just not able to take care of him, but it was obvious why they had left him. They didn't want to be associated with one of the children of Thanatos.
"Hugo Jake."
Another name was called up, and the student responded with a little more excitement than the first person as he started to head up to put his hand on the globe. The globe glowed, and the speaker announced:

The boy seemed disappointed by the ranking, but the student population still gave him some applause for his rank. Hugo walked off the stage with a defeated air around him, and the next name was called out.
The lack of friends and family wasn't the reason why Azrael didn't feel any excitement for his assessment. The reason was something far more serious than that.
Azrael glanced to his left, where his system tab was open, and he frowned in anger as he saw what was written there.

The system showed all of Azrael's current stats as well as how much power he had accumulated through constant training over the past few years. Anyone who set eyes on Azrael's system tab would be awed by the many high-level statistics he had, but Azrael didn't care about any of that. The statistics only measured how strong the mortal body was, and even though Azrael had a mortal ranking of D, it was not going to help him much against others with God Aspects.
Yes, Azrael did not have a God Aspect.
The 'Null' standing proudly where his God Aspect should be grated on Azrael's nerves and made it difficult for him to keep his cool every time he saw it.
A demigod not having a God Aspect was not unheard of. It was a very uncommon occurrence, but it was nothing new. According to statistics on the Divine Enforcers website, one in every million demigods did not possess a God Aspect. The reason for this was still unknown to anyone.
Was it because the god just didn't think the child was worthy of getting an Aspect?
Or maybe it was because the gods didn't have any Aspect that would be a good fit for the child they wanted to bless.
There was no way to know the reason for it, so children without Aspects were treated just like everyone else with Aspects. They were allowed to go to Divine Middle School, and they joined the other demigods in Divine Demigod High School. But that was where the similar treatment ended. After Divine Demigod High School, most students would go on to become frontline fighters in the Divine Enforcers and would start the fight against the Daemons.
No matter how powerful the mortal body of a demigod was, there was nothing that a demigod could do against powerful Daemons without a God Aspect to help them. The demigod would have Divine Essence, but there would be no God Aspect for them to use the Divine Essence to cultivate. It was pointless to allow demigods like that to join the frontline.
After schooling, demigods with no Aspect always ended up in the police force or other lesser military forces charged with more mundane tasks like protecting the streets from criminals. They were glorified caretakers, while the demigods with Aspects became juggernauts in the Divine Enforcers.

The hall suddenly erupted in mutters and whispers as Francesca called the name of one of the three Kings of Divine Academy Middle School. Before the students graduated into high school, there were three students who were seen as the heads of their year because of how unbelievably powerful they were. These three students had blessings from three of the strongest Celestials, and they all had extremely high battle instincts and impressive God Aspects that virtually certified them for greatness.
The eyes of the entire student body had been on these three Kings for years, and now that they were about to find out what their Divine Potential was, there was no one who wasn't watching with bated breath to see if the Kings would remain on their throne or if they would fall down and become one of the peasants.
If any of the three Kings had a low potential, then it would mean that they weren't going to become powerful demigods in the future. They might have good Aspects, but with no potential, it would be wasted on them, and they would only be seen as good-looking containers with no substance on the inside.
Jane Ashten was a tall girl with beautiful blonde hair that she had cut into a short bob, framing her oval face. She had dark blue eyes and a scowling look that drove many people away from her. She wore the white jacket and skirt that was the uniform of Divine Academy students, and on her hands, she wore white gloves.
Jane was a demigod blessed by Zeus, and she had a God Aspect that allowed her to summon powerful dragons forged from lightning to aid her in battle. After learning what her God Aspect was, the Zeus Pantheon showed great interest in her education and care. Jane's parents were regular mortals without any blessings, but the amount of money and aid given to her family by the Zeus Pantheon allowed them to rise through the ranks of society into one of the most influential families in their community.
For Jane, this was a test she could not fail. Jane didn't show it, but there was pressure mounting on her—not only from the expectations of the Zeus Pantheon but also from her parents, who were depending on her strength to continue living the life they always had.
Jane turned her head to the side, and her eyes locked with a pair of black ones. Azrael gave Jane a blank look, and Jane just scowled deeper before she turned away and headed to the globe.
