Chapter 40 - CHAPTER FOURTY;Mystery slayer

Orion slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes. He had spent the last three days in bed, recovering from his injuries. The physician's treatment had worked wonders, and he was now feeling much better.

Aurora stood before him, dressed in a beautiful traditional outfit, her hair styled perfectly. "Today is the festival, remember?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Orion nodded, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "I remember. I'm coming with you, right?" he asked, trying to sound casual despite the fact that he was still a bit weak from his ordeal.

Aurora's eyes narrowed slightly. "Of course, you're coming with me. But promise me you'll be careful. You're still recovering, and I don't want anything to happen to you.

" I will leave you to get ready"with that aurora exited the room.

Orion stood tall, his broad shoulders and chiseled features accentuated by the tailored black coat. His piercing eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief, and his raven-black hair was perfectly styled. He looked every bit the handsome young nobleman, and the guards couldn't help but stare in admiration.

As he walked through the palace corridors, the maids couldn't help but swoon over his dashing appearance. One of them nearly dropped her tray, while another stumbled and had to catch herself on the wall. Orion's gaze swept over them, a hint of amusement dancing on his lips.

Aurora, who was waiting for him in the courtyard, couldn't help but feel a surge of pride. Her brother looked stunning, and she knew he would be the center of attention at the festival. She smiled, feeling grateful that he had recovered so quickly from his injuries.

Aurora gazed at Orion, taking in his dashing appearance. His black coat fit him perfectly, accentuating his broad shoulders and chiseled features. Despite his handsome appearance, Aurora couldn't help but tease him.

"You shouldn't be wearing that to a festival," she said, raising an eyebrow.

Orion looked at her, a hint of amusement dancing on his lips. "Can't you for once say I look good?" he asked, his tone was too serious.

Aurora smirked. "You don't look good to me," she said, trying to sound nonchalant.

Orion chuckled and shook his head. "You're impossible, Rory," he said, using the nickname he made for her. With that, he walked away, leaving Aurora to follow him.

Aurora approached her parents' chambers, intending to announce her and Orion's departure. However, as she opened the door, she was met with a surprise. Her parents, Aria and Nigel, were locked in a passionate kiss, lost in their own intimate moment.

They immediately disembarked.

Aurora's eyes widened in shock. "Oh, I came to tell you that Orion and I are leaving already," she stammered, feeling her face flush.

Aurora hastily retreated from the doorway, trying to erase the image of her parents' intimate moment from her mind. She hadn't expected to walk in on that.

In the chamber, Aria and Nigel exchanged amused glances. "You told me you locked the door," Aria teased, her eyes sparkling.

Nigel scratched his head, chuckling. "I thought I did."

Aria smiled slyly. "Let's try that again."

Nigel grinned, pulling Aria close. "Bad girl!" he whispered, playfully tweaking her cheeks.

Aurora and Orion arrived at the festival, and the atmosphere was electric. The crowd was thick, with people laughing, chatting, and enjoying the vibrant music.

Aurora's eyes sparkled with excitement as she quickly disappeared into the sea of people, eager to join in the festivities.

Orion, on the other hand, opted for a more relaxed approach. He found a comfortable spot to sit, crossing his legs as he surveyed the lively scene before him.

As Orion sat there, a group of rowdy men strolled towards him, their eyes fixed on him with mischief. One of them, a burly man with a sly grin, pointed at Orion and said, "I think this one is cute. Should we have some fun with him?"

The middle-aged man, with rotten teeth and a leering gaze, reached out to touch Orion's chin. "Cutie," he sneered.

Orion's eyes flashed with disgust and anger. Without hesitation, he landed a heavy punch on the man's jaw, sending him crashing to the ground.

The men, fueled by anger and humiliation, charged at Orion, eager for a fight. But Orion, with his lightning-quick reflexes, was more than ready for them.

With swift and precise movements, Orion took down the men one by one, his fists flying in a blur of motion. The fight was over in mere moments, with Orion emerging victorious.

Dusting his hands, Orion scanned the area, his eyes locking onto a nearby stall. He strode over, weaving through the crowd, and settled into a comfortable spot, crossing his legs once more.

The festival continued, with music and laughter filling the air, and few people noticed the brief scuffle. Orion blended in seamlessly, his eyes scanning the crowd as he waited for Aurora to return.

Aurora was swept up in the vibrant atmosphere of the festival, lost in the sea of faces. Suddenly, a gentle tap on her shoulder broke the spell. She turned to see a young woman, roughly her own age, smiling warmly at her.

"Hi," the lady said, her eyes sparkling with friendliness.

"Hey," Aurora replied, curiosity piqued.

"I saw you from afar and thought we could be friends," the woman explained, her voice bubbly.

"Oh!" Aurora said, intrigued.

"I'm Stephan," the woman said, extending her hand for a handshake.

"Aurora," she replied, accepting the handshake with a smile.

Orion grew restless, his patience worn thin by the constant stares he received. He couldn't help but wonder, was he really that handsome? He thought to himself, a hint of amusement dancing on his lips.

Deciding he'd had enough of sitting, Orion stood up, stretching his lean frame. However, he didn't want to venture too far, fearing Aurora might have trouble finding him. He opted to stay within a reasonable distance, his eyes scanning the crowd for any sign of his sister.
