Sam and Mahiru sat across from each other at the café, their conversation light and easy. The café was quiet, save for the soft hum of the jazz music in the background and the occasional clink of coffee cups. Sam couldn't help but feel a little flustered every time he looked at her.
They'd just finished their coffee and were laughing over some silly story Mahiru had shared when Mahiru suddenly paused. Her eyes darted around the café, as if sensing something. Sam followed her gaze but saw nothing out of the ordinary.
"What is it?" Sam asked, frowning slightly.
Mahiru shook her head, her expression thoughtful. "I don't know... I just feel like someone's been watching me. Like... there are eyes on me."
Sam raised an eyebrow. "You sure you're not imagining it?"
"I'm not." Mahiru gave him a knowing smile. "It's like when you get that weird feeling someone's staring at you, and you just can't shake it off."
Sam looked around the café again, trying to spot anything unusual, but the place was as calm as it had been since they arrived. "Maybe you're just paranoid," he teased.
Mahiru rolled her eyes, but there was still a faint unease in her eyes. "Maybe."
As they continued chatting, Mahiru couldn't fully shake the feeling that someone was watching her. It made her nervous, but she didn't want to admit it. She focused on Sam, who was lost in thought about something, and found herself laughing at how cute he looked when he was being so serious.
After a while, they stood up to leave. The moment they stepped out of the café, Mahiru caught sight of something—or rather, someone—out of the corner of her eye. A figure standing just inside the café, staring directly at them. She tensed but didn't say anything.
As they walked toward the street, Sam noticed Mahiru's quietness. "What's wrong?" he asked, concerned.
"I just... I have a feeling someone's following us," Mahiru said under her breath, though she was trying to hide her unease.
Sam raised an eyebrow but didn't respond, figuring it was just a moment of paranoia. But the feeling lingered with Mahiru, and after they parted ways, she couldn't shake the sense that someone was still watching her.
