Chapter 24 - Mineral Senjutsu

The air at the base of the mountain was dense, heavy with the moisture of the mist that floated between the rocks. Kaito felt a shiver run down his spine as he gazed at the towering stone colossus before him. The Temple of Minerals lay at its summit, hidden by the clouds and guarded by treacherous paths that few had managed to traverse. Taking a deep breath, he began his ascent.

As he advanced, the terrain grew more challenging. Loose rocks threatened to throw him off balance, and the narrow trails seemed to vanish into the abyss with a single misstep. Every movement demanded his full attention, every stone beneath his feet had to be measured with precision. There was no room for error.

The wind whistled through the mountain's crevices, creating an echo that resonated within him. It was as if the very minerals were speaking to him, reminding him of the trial he had overcome at the sanctuary. He knew this was not just a physical challenge; this climb would test his mental and spiritual strength.

Hours passed without the end of the path in sight. Exhaustion began to weigh on his legs, but Kaito forced himself to keep going. In his mind, the voice of the mysterious messenger echoed clearly: "The earth is within you." His feet sank into the dust, his hands gripped the rock, and with each step, he felt his connection to the mountain deepen.

Finally, he arrived at a narrow gorge. The passage was tight, with rock walls rising on both sides like sleeping giants. Sensing imminent danger, Kaito advanced cautiously, but he soon understood why this path was so feared.

A thunderous noise shook the earth. From the heights of the ravine, rocks began to fall in a deadly avalanche. With no time to think, Kaito reacted on instinct, sprinting through the pass while dodging the fragments descending in fury. Every second counted. His senses were at their peak, his ninja training guiding his movements, but it wasn't enough. A rock struck near his foot, destabilizing him and causing him to fall onto a narrow ledge.

He clung to the rock with all his strength. Below him, the abyss seemed endless. His breathing quickened, and for a moment, doubt crossed his mind. But then, something awakened within him. He closed his eyes and felt the essence of the minerals flowing around him. It was not just stone, not just an obstacle. It was a part of him, and he was a part of the earth.

Focusing on his connection, he felt the rock respond to his call. He used his strength to climb with determination, taking advantage of every crevice, every ledge. Finally, he pulled himself back onto the path just as the avalanche's roar subsided.

He took a moment to catch his breath and then continued his ascent. The mountain would offer no rest, and he was not willing to give up. After several more hours of climbing, he found a structure carved into the stone. The entrance gate to the Temple of Minerals loomed before him, imposing and silent. Ancient engravings covered its walls, depicting figures that seemed to merge with the very earth.

He touched the surface with the palm of his hand and felt a faint pulse of energy run through his arm.

As he took his first step inside, a voice echoed in the darkness:

"You have arrived, but the true trial has yet to begin."

The sound reverberated through the stone walls, and Kaito felt a shiver run down his spine. From the shadows emerged a terrifying figure, one that seemed to be made from the very essence of the mountain. Though its form was unmistakably a Qilin, its appearance was more brutal, more primal. Its body was composed of various minerals, forming irregular, sharp scales, as if a creature of the earth itself had been sculpted in an instant of fury and power.

The being possessed multiple horns protruding from its head, made of opalescent white quartz and amethyst, glowing with a mystical radiance. Its eyes were large and deep, with a phosphorescent glow that seemed to pierce through the very layers of his soul. Each of its steps resonated on the ground as if the earth itself feared its presence. Its claws, made of obsidian, dug powerfully into the rock. The creature's tail was long and ended in a crystalline tip, shining like a sword forged in the heart of the mountain. Instead of traditional fur, its body was covered in small crystals that reflected light with supernatural intensity.

Though its form was larger and more robust than any traditional Qilin, what truly impressed was its stance—an elegance of terrifying lethality, as if it were about to unleash a storm of mineral forces. There was something overwhelming in its energy, something that transcended the laws of the shinobi world. It was a figure that did not entirely belong to this place, as if its origin lay beyond the known borders, a realm or existence that surpassed human understanding.

The being spoke, its voice rumbling through the chamber like a volcano on the verge of awakening:

"I have been watching you, young one. Your connection to the earth is strong, but something is still missing. I will grant you access to an ancient power, a power that only a few have managed to master: the Mineral Senjutsu."

Kaito, confused yet fascinated, furrowed his brow. The being continued, its gaze fixed on him with an intensity that seemed to pierce his soul:

"The Senjutsu of the shinobi world is the power of nature, the force that connects a ninja with the life energy flowing through all things. But Mineral Senjutsu is different. This will allow you to communicate with the very essence of minerals, to shape them at your will, to feel their pulse, and use them as an extension of your own body. It is a power that will not only strengthen your spirit but also forge your path to mastery."

Kaito observed the figure with a mix of admiration and caution. There was something strange about its presence, something not of this world. The way it spoke, the depth of its knowledge, and the manner in which it seemed to know his fate without ever having shared it… All of it left an unsettling feeling, as if this being was not entirely of this place, as if its origins lay beyond the borders of the shinobi world.

The being extended its hand toward him, and a blinding light enveloped Kaito, who, without hesitation, accepted the challenge.
