Author's Note: Hello, friends! Just a few words from this AncestorDuck. While scrolling through the genre, I found a few "interesting" scriptures. Unfortunately, both were dropped, so I decided I would write one myself! (It's about a gamer system.)
My English is quite "mid," considering I grew up in a non-English-speaking country, but fear not. I went to school. (I didn't learn much there.)
Well, what I want to say is simple. Go easy on this duck, and tell me if something bothers you. Any ideas are appreciated as well.
One last thing: only the prologue is this short. Normal chapters are around 2,000 words and are released daily.

I tugged my earphones in, not wanting to hear the bullshit those kids in front of me were talking any longer. What did the parents feed those little brats?
The sun was attacking me mercilessly, shining down from the cloudless morning sky. There was still some coolness in the air, while the heat from the rays was already quite intense. It was July, and summer was about to reach its peak.
How long will this shit take? I thought as I looked at my watch, which I wore on my right hand. It had been like 5 minutes since I started standing here, yet the light still hadn't turned green. I'd even hit the switch like 100 times already.
Those old traffic lights should have been long renewed, but no, this country would rather send its money to India to build some bikeways.
Don't misunderstand me, I do think we should help the poor and all, but is it really necessary to let our own population suffer because of it?
My body's heat started to rise as I got lost in my thoughts. It was making me angry.
But there was no use in getting angry. No matter what happened, those politicians didn't care anyway; they got their big-ass salaries even if we peasants were sleeping on the street.
"Kid, get off!" I screamed as I suddenly saw one of those kids next to me start to run into the street. The light was still red, and there was literally nothing. So why, why did this little shit walk up there?
The kid didn't show any attention at all, walking even further. As if he was possessed by the devil himself, this kid strolled the street without a care.
Fuck! Should I grab him? I thought, conflicted. On one hand, it was his own fault; on the other hand, he was still a kid and didn't know what he was doing. Me, as an adult, should intervene in this kind of situation. It was what would be expected of me. I was quite sure that if this deep shit got hit by a car, I would end up behind bars for not helping him.
My head turned left, then right, and once again left. Seeing that there was no car approaching, I started to walk toward the kid, who stood in the street.
My earphones were long out, and I touched his shoulder. "Kid, get off the street, it's dangerous."
The kid turned and looked me in the eyes. "Indeed. It's indeed dangerous."
His expression was strange, and the way he spoke... It was completely different from before.
However, I had other problems than this at the moment.
"Get off, now!" My voice grew louder and more impatient.
A little smile curled up his face. "If I say no?"
What the...? I was shocked beyond words. Was he crazy?
I didn't have much time, caged in thoughts, as I heard something loud approaching. My hands reached toward the child, and I grabbed his shoulder.
Since he didn't want to move, I needed to remove him, forcefully if needed.
To my surprise, he didn't budge an inch. I used quite a bit of my strength - more than I would need for a kid like him.
The approaching vehicle grew louder, and I knew I didn't have much time left.
Unfortunately, I underestimated the time I had. Turning right, I saw a truck just 50 meters away.
"Fuck it!" I cursed, as I pushed the kid away, this time with all the strength I had left. He moved and was out of the way. Looking me in the face, his tongue revealed itself, giving me a provoking look.
Before I could react, I felt an impact, and my body was thrown through the air. The world spun around me, and before long, I hit something. Darkness swallowed me quickly, and I felt my mind becoming foggy. Then, I lost consciousness.
