As the sun hung low, and the village started waking, Nidar wandered around its outskirts, far away from its heart, and unfamiliar warmth. As the first steps sounded out through the village, the first chatter, laughter, and occasional shout, made Nidar linger a while longer in his thoughts as he observed the surrounding area.
"I wonder if he's already awake." The young boy said to himself, averting his gaze away from the village, and to a secluded hut at the foot of a mountain, just far enough away from the village to make it stand out.
The boy after a short while of thinking, decided to go check up on his caretaker, another outcast, but not like Nidar, he was an outcast by choice, and as the boy entered the cabin, the mountain of a man still slept, oblivious to everything happening around him.
"Good" the boy whispered to himself upon whispering the man sleep. "I can still go and play a bit." The boy then headed out, passing the familiar boulder placed on the path, splitting it in half, one end pointing to the cabin, while the other to the village.
As he continued on his way, he passed many ruins, some cold and hard in touch, steel in colour. Some rough to the skin and orange brown in color. Some overgrown and collapsed, and some almost completely destroyed, and yet what most would find ugly, broken, and maybe even scary, the boy found beautiful and intriguing. As he walked through the ruins his eyes clearly shone, he was smiling as he let his hand glide freely through the leaves, and let it glide on the rough surface of the metal.
As Nidar walked, the ground beneath him suddenly crumbled. He let out a sharp scream as he plummeted, crashing into beams on his way down. When he finally hit the bottom, his head spun with confusion, but instead of fear, wonder lit his eyes. What he had fallen into was more incredible than anything he'd seen before. As he stood up, and dusted his pants slightly, he looked around, many lights, flickering with life, formless, and floating in the air. The boy then started walking, exploring the ruins, and as he walked not only echo could be heard from his steps, but also a quiet drip of water could be heard from time to time. He was clearly intrigued by the unknown and the mysterious, and yet there was still no fear in his eyes. As Nidar entered a singular, lonely chamber in the corner of the main room, he felt… familiarity? He himself doesn't understand it, after all why would he feel familiar in this place, was it the seclusion? Maybe the sense of the chamber being "alone"?. Once he's In the chamber he found what appeared to be a skeleton, looking weirdly inorganic in nature, as if someone was attempting to recreate a skeleton from memory, twisting it in the process, making it look sick, broken, not belonging to this world even, but as he approached it, he saw a small, circular plate, placed on the nape of the skeleton.
The boy, intrigued, picked up the plate, touching the skeleton in the process, which had a weird texture, almost rubbery like, and surprisingly the skeleton smelled sweet. With a small glint in his eyes he started inspecting the plate, yes it was circular, but upon closer inspection there appeared to be something written on the plate. And as he tried to read the words, which he didn't understand, the plate flew towards his nape, as if pulled by a strong magnet and as it attached to him, and as it did the boy felt a weird pull to the plate, as if it was sucked to his nape, almost instantly, lights flashed around him, many pictures revealing themselves on the walls, many writings previously unseen now visible to him.
"Wow." the boy exclaimed as he looked around. "so… beautiful." he murmured as he accidentally pressed on one of the images, enlarging it, and making it clearer. In the image he saw the place where his cabin is now, the place looked sad, grey sky, and yellow grass, the place looked dying. After a few minutes he clicked the image again, making it disappear as quickly as it appeared. The boy, intrigued, and curious about the picture, continued exploring the ruins, and after some time, and not finding anything he left, returning back to the cabin, passing the familiar stone, and approaching his familiar abode, where his caretaker was still asleep. Nidar, with still many questions unanswered, has just sat down on the steps leading up to the cabin, and got quickly lost in thought.
After some time of thinking the boy decided to touch the small plate, instantly similar lights appeared in front of him, a circle with "Sýn Eye patch" written in the middle.
"What's Syn?" he wondered, pressing the text. Suddenly, he heard what sounded simultaneously from his head, and from around him.
"Sýn E-Eye Patch is a d-d-device created by Arista Electronicssss-s-s, designed for easy use, and help in daily life" The voice sounded metallic, harsh, and without emotions, empty, and broken at times even.
"AAAAHH" Nidar screamed loudly, startled by the sudden voice from the plate. "Who… who is speaking?" He asked in a shaky tone. Suddenly, as if the voice was called to respond.
"I am. I-I. I. I-I" The voice glitched, not being able to respond, and probably remember.
The boy put his hands on his head and gritted his teeth slightly, while the voice in the back continued glitching.
"Stop!" The boy shouted, clearly his head hurting from the sound of the voice glitching. "Stop! Please!" Nidar continued shouting, and finally after a few seconds the voice stopped.
Nidar after another second let go of his head, and after a while of thinking, he said while trying to understand what happened.
"I will call you Mim, okay?" Suddenly the voice stopped and after a few seconds it stopped glitching and just said.
"D-D-Data rec-received. Name changed t-to Mim. What can I-I help you with?" The voice seemed to calm down slightly, and no longer sounded as glitchy.
"Umm…" The boy stutters slightly, not knowing what to say.
"What… no… why were you in the ruins?" The boy asks, clearly curious, confused, and eager to hear
"S-Survive. Sh-Shelterr-r" The voice said, clearly intriguing the boy
