Chapter 2 - WHISTLE BLOWER

Whistleblowing (also written as whistle-blowing or whistle

blowing) is when a person, often an employee, reveals

information about activity within a private or public organization

that is deemed illegal, immoral, illicit, unsafe or fraudulent.

Whistleblowers can use a variety of internal or external channels

to communicate information or allegations. Hence contacting

CQC regarding my concerns about a certain individual swearing

at a patient.

A whistleblower can also bring allegations to light by

communicating with external entities, such as the media,

government of law enforcement.

I brought this to the attention of the laws of England with client's

involvement.

Whistleblowers do not always achieve their aims; for their

claims to be credible and successful, they must have compelling

evidence to support their claims that the government regulating

body like the NHS can use their investigate to prove such claims

and hold corrupt companies and/or government agencies to

account, regarding the term "whistle blowing" that is what I

thought it was going to happen.

According to Dominic Hughes, Health Correspondent, BBC

News, Protections for NHS staff to speak out about wrongdoing may be

insufficient to prevent another big scandal like that at the Mid

Staffordshire hospital trust, an expert has told BBC News. He

says despite subsequent attempts to encourage whistleblowing,

some still pay a heavy price for speaking up. I am an example

Police came to my house and intimated me it was very scary

advising me I could be facing a jail charge this victimisation can

discourages others from coming forward.

The NHS National Guardian Dr Jayne Chidgey-Clark, whose job

it is to protect whistleblowers in England, also says too many

managers in the health service are still not protecting those who

raise concerns from victimisation or bullying.

CARE QUALITY COMMISSION

On start of the shift Qualified Nurses do handover this is done

regularly by the nurses every day this includes nights. Only the

kitchen staff do not sit around during the handover period, in the

morning this meeting is joined by the clinicians as well as the

Doctors who will be responsible to the client's care. There are

also regular meeting that are done and discussions are made

about the clients progress whilst in hospital even concerns about

the client are discussed during this time

Notes are written in computers and at printed and filed

accordingly. Each client have their own clinicians and other

professionals who are well trained for this.

Called the department of the Care Quality Commission in

(January 2015 ) informed them about a male member of staff

who was swearing at a client using a vulgar language towards

female client. Most of the client were detained in hospital

under a Section Of Mental Health Act and were under this

protection and were not to subject to any form of abuse of any

form or kind.

My closest friend sent me an email and when I looked at this

document, they appeared to have the answers to the questions

which would be asked. E.g. if things went wrong, what would

you do? How would they deal with difficult situation ? Staff

members are aware about hospital policies, so what would one

do if things go wrong?

I still had log in details of this hospital, so it was easy for this

email to be forwarded to me. This mail came from the CQC and

was sent by a lady called JC, directly through to the hierarchy

department and then sent to staff members who were working on

that specific ward. The refence number which were given to be

where sent to court as proof of evidence together with my

grievance, even public concerns reference number was provided.

PUBLIC CONCERN AT WORK

There is also another organisation called public concern at work

(PCW). This is an independent authority on whistleblowers. It

provides free help to prospective whistleblowers and advice on

whistleblowing laws.

I was also given a reference number. Spoke to JE and got a

reference number. I used the alias, and I wrote this information

down, just in case I forgot the (reference number.) it was about

this email that came from (CQC) department.

Whistleblowing in the UK

Whistleblowing law is located in the Employment Rights Act

1996 (as amended by the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998). It

provides the right for a worker to take a case to an employment

tribunal if they have been victimised at work or they have lost

their job because they have 'blown the whistle'.

You can also whistle blow about someone trying to cover up.

Whistleblowing is the action someone takes to report

wrongdoing at work that affects others.

Legally this is known as 'making a disclosure in the public

interest'.

The action of whistleblowing is sometimes called 'blowing the

whistle'.

People are still protected even if they no longer work for the

employer they're making a disclosure about it. www.acas.org.uk

A miscarriage of justice. A prison sentence will be imposed for

preventing the course of justice in most cases. These laws are

also in Canada which are the equivalent offence, referred to as

"obstructing justice".

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 is an important part of

promoting dignity and ensuring a working environment that

encourages people to challenge practices in their own workplace.

The law offers some protection from victimisation to people who

blow the whistle.

There was an interview on television about an investigation

which was by ITV News London, which rang bells to me; it had

uncovered corruption and collusion at Wandsworth Prison. A

serving prison officer said staff helped smuggle drugs and

phones inside, and a prisoner described how inmates get away

with breaking the rules. ITV News London was able to verify the

claims by contacting a serving prisoner on WhatsApp who spoke

about poor levels of security. This reminded me about the

incident that happened in 2015 in a hospital I worked at.

Just weeks after a prisoner allegedly escaped by hiding under a

lorry, a whistleblower claimed vehicles were still not being

properly checked. "A lot of staff just don't care," the prison

officer told ITV News London.

Whistleblowers play a significant role in both public and private

sectors, and their level of publicity or notoriety varies depending

on the case. Fraudulent activities within an organisation or

business, often an employee or someone closely related to the

organisation.

Whistleblowers risk retaliation from their employers for bringing

such matters to light. While there are laws in place to protect

whistleblowers, such laws differ from country to country.

Whistleblowers in America

In America the book written by Alison sheds light and

clarification about the wrongdoing at work, and if you look at

this broadly, it is the same in the United Kingdom. Magisterial

exploration of whistleblowing in America, from the

Revolutionary War to the Trump era, misconduct by those in

high places is always dangerous to reveal. Whistleblowers thus

face conflicting impulses: by challenging and exposing

transgressions by the powerful, they perform a vital public

service–yet they always suffer for it.

National Whistleblower Appreciation Day is celebrated every

July 30th in the United States. This day has its roots in the first

whistleblower law implemented in 1778. The global observation

of World Whistleblower Day occurs at the end of June, unlike

the United Kingdom.

Mukesh Kapila, a former head of the United Nations in Sudan,

did the same thing when he witnessed appalling acts of violence

that occurred due to the UN's inaction in Darfur. He exposed the

human rights abuses and, as a result, faced repercussions in the

form of losing his position within the UN and various roles

within the British government. Nevertheless, he persisted in his

quest to bring justice to those guilty of the Darfur genocide,

which is considered one of the earliest. He also did the same

thing about reporting the wrong doings.

Of course, nobody knows what happens behind closed doors,

looking at this in broader terms, and looking at what really

happened to the Francis Inquiry and the poor patient's treatment

as an example of poor engagement with clients.

htts://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk

The events that happened at Stafford Hospital exposed what

really happened to Francis Inquiry reports, this shows us what

happens when things go wrong and when the interests of patients

are not put first this included when their concerns are not

listened to. The reports mentioned about the poor management of

patients, The Trust failures not to have a proper policy for

referring clinicians to professional regulators. The NMC was

also mentioned in this report and that the GMC need to develop a

close working relationship with the Care Quality Commission.

NMC had failed properly to define its role or that of its

representatives in the NHS. In clear view of my experiences with

NMC who were more focused on Employment dispute case

instead of pills.

Staff behaviours can be challenging at times, especially when

working with clients who experience difficulties in mental health

settings. Doctors have been reluctant to accept standard

processes and to engage with team and management roles. This

was mentioned during the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation

Trust Public Inquiry. Re-establishing the credibility and

effectiveness of the Care Quality Commission has therefore been

a critical component of the Government The response to the

Inquiry, was seeking to establish the regulator as a trusted,

authoritative, and independent agency that can quickly identify

poor care so that effective action can be taken seriously.

Especially where there is poor treatment to patients.

I found this quite astonishing. I had read this from a report which

was published on 6 February 2013 as it examined the causes of

the failings in care at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust

between 2005 and 2009.

This report made 290 recommendations, which was above me.

The fundamental standards for health care providers are to

improve and support clients with compassionate and committed

caring, and a stronger health care leadership. This is to improve

and take countability mistreating patients and their the voice s

and their families can be heard. And these issues were noted

during the Fransis enquiries.

This will help to ensure that there is ultimate accountability for

those guilty of the most extreme types of poor care correctly as

well putting focus to those who are under Mental Health Act

2013, it does not matter who you are and where you are from;

when you are a professional you must always keep your standard

of care.

Detained patients are usually treated in secure hospitals, even in

prisons like Broadmoor, which is also a specialist psychiatric

hospital and provides assessment, treatment, and care in

conditions of high security for men aged 18 and over. This is the

hospital I wanted to look for a job as it's closer to Oxford.

Caring is not cut out for everyone, and I found out this to be true.

Nonetheless, at times I found my emotions could be overruling

me. These emotions would be triggered by missing my own

mother.

CARE QUALITY COMMISION

The Care Quality Commission (CQC)is an organisation that

regulates all health and social care services in England. The

commission ensures the quality and safety of care in hospitals,

dentists, ambulances, and care homes, and the care given in

people's own homes. If patients are mistreated by staff one can

call this organization.

All staff should be familiar and know about this organization and

how they can assist. CQC department sent this this email to this

trust before the investigations started this particular email appeared to have answers to the questions which will be asked

they came as domains straight for the CGC department that

nurses practice safely when I looked at this email they appeared

to have answers to the questions which will be asked? These

documents came through as emails and were they were as

domains originated from the CQC department it was a lady

called (JC) The trust seemed to know this specific person as this

email was sent straight to the hospital hierarchy department,

Whistleblowing in UK

Whistleblowing (also written as whistle-blowing or whistle

blowing) is when a whistleblower can bring allegations to light

by communicating with external entities, such as the media,

government, or law enforcement. Whistleblowing can occur in

either the private sector is part of the economy like NHS This

establishment is non profitable.

Whistleblowers do not always achieve their aims; for their

claims to be credible and successful, they must have compelling

evidence to support their claims that the government or

regulating body can use or investigate to "prove" such claims

and hold corrupt companies and/or government agencies to

account, regarding the term "whistle blowing" may be offensive

to some people

When clients/patients are in a mental health Hospital they get

detained and most of them have no right, this does not mean they

can be abused.

America about Whistleblowing

Even in America(c**t) (/kʌnt/) is a vulgar word for

the vulva or vagina. It is used in a variety of ways, including as

a term of disparagement. "(c**t)" is often used as a disparaging

and obscene term for a woman in the United States, an

unpleasant or objectionable man or woman in the

47

United Kingdom and Ireland, or a contemptible man

in Australia and New Zealand. Reddit.

https.//www.reddict.com/askanAmerican/comments

In 2006, feminist writer and English professor Germaine

Greer argued that "(c**t)" is one of the few remaining words in

the English language with a genuine power to shock." It shocked

everyone, even me.

Every health and care professional must be open and honest with

patients and people in their care when something that goes

wrong with their treatment or care causes, or has the potential to

cause, harm or distress.

Most of the professional knew about this through handover,

which is done by nurse, as work shift work. hospital work

teams, nurse and healthcare besides people that worked in the

kitchen. When there is an incident we discuss about this and try

and find the cause of the incident and the triggers behind it/

Would be a member of staff? Or the patient. In the morning

mainly there will be a lot of professionals who sit around the

table and listen and at times these meeting can be done when

there is major incidents has happened and its done through

(handover) periods there are also computers, clients notes its

very organised.

Notes are printed and filed in clients notes this is good practice.

Harming or distressing patients, using this word "(c**t)" is

above anyone.as a member of staff you have to be proud of your

position.

The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by

those who watch them without doing anything by Albert Einstein

hence raising this with the CQC department.

PUBLIC CONCERN AT WORK

There is also another organisation called public concern at work

(PCW) This is an independent authority on whistleblowers. It

provides free help to prospective whistle-blowers and advice on

whistleblowing laws.

I needed clarification about what I had read regarding the CQC

and what was happening in that department due to the

Individuals who was sending information to this trust as emails,

which were sent to the hospital (name withheld due to

confidentiality reasons). before the investigations started every

time I called I could ask for a reference which I was given. I

could call several times during the week and it felt like all my

concerns were falling into deaf ears

In this organisation (PCW) Spoke to JE name used this time

(Mandy) not my name of course

JH did not respond as the was the ministry of Justice, I sent some

information on a recorded delivery I contacted a lot of

departments. NHS England is one of the organizations what I

understood are very good in doing the investigation of

misconduct.

Sadly some do not The Francis enquiry report was published on

6 February 2013 and examined the causes of the failings in care

at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust between 2005 and

2009. The report makes 290 recommendations, including:

openness, transparency and candour throughout the health care

system (including a statutory duty of candour), fundamental

standards for health care providers

Speaking up on behalf of the patients in our care is everyday part

of the job raising concerns represents good practice, 'doing

nothing' and failing to report concerns is unacceptable it was

heartbreaking I was very powerless.

There was a program television where an investigation was

conducted, ITV News reported that what had happened in

London and has uncovered corruption and collusion at

Wandsworth Prison. that information tending to show any matter

failings.

ITV News London was able to verify the claims by contacting a

serving prisoner on WhatsApp who spoke about poor levels of

security.

"Our life is a constant journey, from birth to death. The

landscape changes, the people change, our needs change, but the

train keeps moving. Life is the train, not the station. And what

you're doing now isn't travelling, it's just changing countries,

which is completely different. – Paulo Coelho

Through determination I have put more focus on the actual

things really, And mostly important it my family no matter what.

Looking at the eagles fly up the blue sky and looking down

waiting for any chance snatch the little chicks. That is when I

was a little girl from the village, running around bare footed and

happy I could hear the sounds of chickens making noise sand

throwing corn on the ground, these chicken could see danger

from far and there was a noise they made for the chicks to seek

hiding but at time they will be too late and they gate snacked by

the vultures' and it was not a nice sight I hated that. . I have

worked for the NHS for a couple of years, doing various jobs. I

know there are people out there who have done so much, but

everybody has their journey and this time it is mine.

I have not been on holidays for an extraordinarily long time due

to work commitments.

My mind at times keeps racing back to my mother, in my first

Edition I mentioned in details what happened during that

dreadful day I remember clearly as the next morning; I followed

her foots prints it was a small path and this path you could see

cows and donkey even humans used to travel that path and it is

like I knew where she was but I did not I was looking for her I

might have been ten or eleven years old.

I am a mother and grandmother it feels like yesterday, if I could

turn back the clock I will for my beloved mother Maria/MAMA

In life I managed to defy odds, by holding on a tree root, by the

river Limpopo where there was gauze and the river was drying

up but there was still patches of water, animals could drink this

included the Elephant a heard the minute we saw them we ran

different directions.

I was petrified of those two big elephants but I survived this

ordeal, which I discussed in length in my first edition.

I used to administer medication for clients with depression; the

wheels have turned and now I am taking these pills.

DEMENTIA

Dementia is not a specific decease but rather a general term for

the impaired ability to remember or think

www.cdc.gov.agingdementia

Working with clients who are affected by this disease can be

challenging and it varies from person to person. This becomes

worse when an individual cannot remember the family or

mistakes them for someone else.

At some point one patient who was woman mistook her son and

believed it was her husband and became very Protective of him

there are times when she could not remember how to use the

toilet, and she made used her pads she would want me to clean

her, so I would come with a story like you have ants in you pants

to try and see if I could clean her. I could at the end At times she

would not want to eat any thing

My experience working with clients with Dementia has helped

me a lot since starting the care fields many in West Midlands I

have worked with elderly people, most of them had this disease.

Since they had this dreadful disease, they could not do much for

themselves. I worked in a hospital which was a purpose-built

care home, divided into two independent units for residential

clients with dementia.

This home offered 41 private bedrooms, all with en-suite

facilities, and all under NHS. These clients needed assistance in

providing personal care. Now, I get jobs as a live-in carer, where

you live in someone's property for the purpose of caring; this

could involve patients suffering from Dementia, or cancer

patients who need assistance in day-to-day living.

At times I get assignments to assist patients with Dementia and

this is normally done through an agency that books you in and

then sends details, which is normally by email.

There will be care plan which you will follow this document

with all the detailed information, which covers the clients'

holistic needs before you commence the job. At the same time,

you must know about their support network: this could be a

family of professionals, and all this information will be in their

care plan. It will cover what they enjoyed previously, and what

they used to do e.g. jobs, and this will include holidays that they

had before the illness.

If the client suffering from this disease, most of the relatives find

it hard to keep them at home, as they cannot cope. family

members can send them to available facilities e.g. a homes that

specialises in that area.

As a live-in carer I provide personal care and assistance to

clients including those who are terminally ill.

I normally have a lot of luggage: public transport can be

inconvenient in this respect. Getting a bus from Oxford to work

can be challenging. Once I get to the train station, at times the

trains can be de delayed or cancelled, and normally when I

bought a ticket. I'd be asked if I was moving house. People

would usually assume that a person with a rucksack and a

suitcase on the train, would be moving house or going on

holiday; in my case, I would simply be travelling to my next job

as a live-in carer.

Public transport can be challenging at times; it's either the train

has been cancelled or if you manage to get a seat, there will be

people who like to put their feet up by the seats or at times it gets

too full, especially in the times after the pandemic. Covid 19

made public transport inconvenient, due to a high number of

people. In the crowd, someone may have symptoms, such as

feverish temperature continuous cough, and shortness of breath.

and will never know

Getting into the train, sometimes I get lucky, as people tend to

help me to carry my suitcases inside.

Travelled to this placement which was booked for two weeks

but ended up staying longer due to the global pandemic. 2021

April this meant that nobody was travelling at that time was

asked to stay a longer most of the carers had to remain on one

place. The client was, however, living on her own and had only

two son who were very supportive

I was picked by one of her sons from the train stations I had my

small luggage and when we arrived I realised the house looked

big from outside. This lady was standing by the window I knew

she had these disease but was not sure how advanced it was she

was standing by the kitchen window and I realised there was a

dog which at the end I became fond of this dog. Briefly

introductions and her younger son showed me where I would be

sleeping, all the bedroom where upstairs and these stairs were

not that wide. Her bedroom had a double bed facing the garden

he toilet was separate from her bedroom there was also a another

spare room which I understood the other son used to sleep when

he came to visit. There were two separate shower rooms, a

bathroom room with a tub.

Downstairs there was a lounge with a television and another

room that appeared like an office; there was a conservatory with big windows and a door leading to the garden. There was also a

small radio there was a table were she kept the photos we could

sit there briefly but when in the car she could sit longer even if

the car was stationary she would just sit

Randomly would sit in the kitchen only during breakfast time

and meal times

We did not spent time in the kitchen but at the conservatory

Some photos were when they went on holiday as a family before

the husband died and also relative photos she was not aware to

who it was or when those where taken, this information I got

from one her son who loved to played a piano which was in one

of the rooms leading to the conservatory

When he came to visited. In the conservatory there was a doll

house and a statue of a horse. The house had five reasonable big

bedrooms, upstairs. Most of the bedroom had her children

clothes although they were grown up and had their own families,

The garden had arch entrance leading to this well cut loan and

was immaculate and was cut by the gardener on regular basis

the garden could stretch there was also a pond with ducks and I

enjoyed watching them I loved that family as they made me fill

very comfortable.

The garden was planted with a lot of flowers and mainly roses,

which I love it was very big, there was a horse stable but there

was no horse

In the garden there was a feeding station where we could both

feed the wild birds and we both could water the garden she was

very fond of Primrose flowers

There were of plenty family photos, scattered everywhere there

so many photos and there where piles and piles of them then I

asked the son to buy her an album with her younger son we had

our conversation but briefly he bought photo Album we both

organised those when we both sat in the conservatory were there

was a toy horse and a doll house in the conservator was big with

a four seater the floors were had white tiles and it appeared thy

had kept Parrots there

One son who visited regularly, played a piano and we would

dance and at times he would come with his wife and children and

have dinner they were a very lovey family hence purchasing a

car for me to drive with her when we visited many this done over

the weekend her son where doing very well financially

especially the one living not far her had a farm and several

properties he ran a Band B hotel which was kept spotless clean

When they came we could by the table and play games with her

although she could not engage very well I wanted

Pray one day a bat came in I was very scare the house was old

there was also a pond we could see when we went for a walk

when one of her son came to visit he spent few days with as he

had the family house.

They had a garden who kept the lawn maculate I loved walking

around for fresh air there was also place were could both fed

the wild birds

They had big garage and packing space, it was easy to fit three

cars in .

All had dogs but I can remember the breed, they kept houses and

parrots which could make so much There was a time when both were in the lounge and just finished

eating a bat flew by in the kitchen and I was scared and she was

not I was ready to hit with a broom as I believed otherwise about

seeing a bat during the night I never liked bats any where, I used

to associate this bird with Witches.

It was flapping its wings around the kitchen and this lady

become very protective all on a sudden she was not scared of this

Bat.

She would hide from her friends ,and not want to see them even

if they called her by name, I became very Protective of her.

Walking around became a challenge, but I used to encourage her

to do so even taking a bath was an issue. Little thing like

brushing her own teeth. We had separate bathrooms nut I used to

encourage her to brush hers who did not want to see anymore.

She wanted me to marry one of her sons although both were

married due to fact the conservatory was so big and the garden it

There were times we sit outside when it was hot and have icecream (conetto) I Could pick random topic for her to engage

with me. I enjoyed her company even if she was unwell, we

could sit in the car and have a random chat, or have a women

talk which was not easy.

https://postimg.cc/D4bFRZhn

Labrador which I liked a lot

There was a big black Labrador and it was very friendly. At

times she would feed the dog her food although the dog would

have eaten already it has its cannel outside also there was the dog

bed in the kitchen as well as plates for food for the dog.

The last born was a business man

Both her boys had children the one living abroad had only boys

and the one living local had just girls, I could drive the mother

there I remember when it was Easter they buried a lot of eggs in

their huge garden we looked around they they where chocolates

it was a very nice family and I enjoyed being there although in

the beginning it was not easy, specially the women.

And we had go and hunt for them, we also played Bantom's

game later we had barbeque

She had two sons who visited regularly, although the other son

lived abroad and I saw him once when he came to visit her. We

went shopping together and we took turns in cooking; it was a

very nice atmosphere. During dinner we all could sit in the

kitchen, which had a big table in the middle and I encouraged

them to thank the Lord for the food which we ate.

The other son who lived locally used to do the shopping for her.

They were a very nice family. He would pass by to see how I

was getting along with his mother who was very fixated on him

and he looked like his father although I never met him it was just

through photograph he never stayed very long as he had a

busyness to run and a family who we used to visit occasionally

hence buying a car for me to drive their mother to his house

where he lived with his wife and two daughters

We got on well although in the beginning it was challenging, e.g.

she would ask me when I would be leaving as she did not have

enough space for me to sleep. She believed her sons were still in

school and this would happen during the late hours of the day. At

times could walk around her garden which was well kept. Her

walking was not so good but she could water her plants, which

were in the green house.

This family bought for me a car to drive her around and there

was a radio inside; we played classical music, mainly Pavarotti.

She never sang but would sleep in the car. We attended hospital

appointments together this appointments were not far from

where she lived.

The radio which I was driving at some point the family bought

me a car to travel with her which was very convenient because I

did not have a vehicle. We could go to the local market and buy

vegetables, and mostly, we'd do this to encourage her to come

outside of the house.

At the market we could bring her prepaid newspaper–it was not

far, but it was beyond walking distance.

When a care package is available, it varies; it can be

companionship or hands on care. I have not done the

companionship care packages. Patients with dementia struggle

to recognise their loved ones. At times when there are photos

around, we always look at these together.

The statement that got me was, "I want to have a bath. Are there

any towels around? Can you please take my watch off as I don't

want it to get wet."

I knew this could be due to his illness and that was hard.

I found talking to them very beneficial although they might

mention something that you don't know, and the family can help

if they have anyone who is still alive. To clarify this as it could

be true invest that could have happened in the past, At times it

helps so much to talk about things they have done in the past and

if you know a holiday and places they have been and it's nice to

let them talk about these things; I try not to intervene when they

tell me the stories of their lives.

If the client is a man, he might mention a military career, or the

things he did before he got ill. It is nice to see the individuals,

not just the patient or client, but who they were before the

illness, before they developed. At times we played cards and

showed them family photos which were normally by their family

albums, in their homes.

When it was time to cook as I was the main carer she could sit in

the kitchen while I peeled the potatoes and her concentration was

not so good only when she was sitting in the together and

listened to the radio, Lot of chats when we walked around her

garden but she was not keen on that she loved to stay indoors

and used to comb her constantly sadly I could not do that for her

Living in someone's property is not easy as our standards are all

different, sometimes this could be caused by cultural difference

Providing personal care to the clients within their homes, is not

easy. Encouraging them to attend leisure activities, such as going

to church with them for the Sunday services and providing

companionship and emotional support, orcooking meals.

Sometimes they need supporting with feeding when required as

at times it can be a man or women even couples, this is hands on

e.g. full body wash, or shower. including bathing, and

incontinence support.

But not sure if they kept fish in that pond, I was also informed he

was an architect to designed his own house. Which was

beautiful very big and there was an indoor built lift which could

take you upstairs During this time where there no right or wrong

way of doing things other times it may feel rewarding and bring

you closer to the person you are caring for. These feeling will be

mixed with sadness and sorrow, we all mourn differently and at

times this could be based on how much you cared for that

particular individual when they were alive, knowing you will not

see or to talk to them again.

There was a care-packed which has been there her long time. I

was requested to go and assist these men who was diagnosed

with cancer. In 2021

On arrival I was picked by one of the carers from the train

station when we got to the house it was a very old bungalow it

was a couple, but the gentleman is the one who needed carer

there was a Labrador dog which was beautiful.

I was supposed to be sleeping upstairs in this room when I

looked through the windows there was so many trees and it was

very green and the soil appeared very fertile it reminded me of

back home, some of the tree the leaves had fallen down and

there was stream of water outside The had a gardener was a

women who came once a week and could to clean the leaves

outside, which had carpeted the garden there was also a place

where they fed wild birds and I liked this, food for squirrel nuts

etc, etc and peanuts were all kept in the pantry .This house had a

cellar where the wine bottles where kept , occasionally I would

be asked to pick a bottle from there and they had a variety of

alcohol inside the house besides the cellar

I can say he was genuine nice man, who had a lovely dog. This

was full hands care it was bed bathing helping to dress and

applied cream to his body most of the creams were on

prescription.

So in the morning before any one got up I used to go to the main

road were the letter box was and pick the newspaper this was

the time I also

I loved to take the dog for a walk, as there were so many places

to go. The dog followed me everywhere and at times this dog

could climb their stairs and come to the bedroom where I was

sleeping.

We could go and pick the papers up in the morning and I used to

carry dog biscuits, Newspaper it was near the main road but this

dog never even tried to cross the road with ought me and it had a

leech so it never

As the slogan goes, the dog is for life, and not just for Christmas.

The Labrado

Labradors were first introduced into the UK in the late 1800s by

the Earl of Malmsbury and Col Peter Hawke Labrador Retrievers

have consistently been one of the most popular family pets both

in the UK.

Originally bred to retrieve nets for fishermen and then game and

fowl for hunters, the Labrador Retriever excels when asked to

work in difficult and challenging terrains www.Pets4Home

On average, a Labrador Retriever will have a lifespan of about

12 to 12 1/2 years. Recent studies have suggested the yellow and

Black Labradors will live longer than Chocolate Labradors,

which only live to 10.7 years on average

LIVE IN JOBS

There was a care package booked through and agency in Surrey,

which was to assist a gentleman who was diagnosed with cancer.

on arrival to this property it appeared small

On arrival I noticed there was a small stream running but did not

make too much noise there was also was a station for feeding

wild birds and squirrels with nuts The house was not that big .

This couple had grown up family and all married I saw them

once over Christmas when this family went to spend Christmas

with them.

There where small paths with road signs marked and these were

easy to follow when I was walking with the dog. There was a lot

of dried leaves on the ground, but it was nice men who lived

with his wife and had a lovely dog which I loved.

When taking this dog for a walk alongside the pedestrian path . I

saw few people who were doing the same with their dogs this

place was nice to go for a long walk with this dog if it was not

raining although in the beginning I was very reluctant. In the

morning I would take the dog for a walk to pick up the

newspaper and it used to follow me everywhere. I enjoyed

singing to the dog and it used to wag its tail, it was beautiful. It

appeared like it was listening to me, although I am not a good

singer, I made the effort.

There is a slogan how about dogs that dog is for life not just for

Christmas www dot trust.org.

This gentlemen diagnosis was cancer I don't have much

experience with this illness,

Cancer is ultimately the result of cells that uncontrollably grow

and do not die. Normal cells in the body follow an orderly path

of growth, division, and death. Programmed cell death is called

apoptosis, and when this process breaks down, cancer begins

to form. www.medicalnewstoday.com/info/cancer-oncology

Cancer causes cells to divide uncontrollably. This can result in

tumours, damage to the immune system, and other impairment

that can be fatal. Cancer can affect various parts of the body,

such as the breasts, lungs, prostate, and skin. Innovative research

has fuelled the development of new medications and treatment

technologies. Medical is one of the fastest growing health

information sites in the United States.

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is the world's largest independent

cancer research organisation. It is registered as a charity in the

United Kingdom and Isle of Man, formed on 4 February 2002 by

the merger of The Cancer Research Campaign and the Imperial

Cancer Research Fund.

Cancer is worldwide and people who have this disease need a lot

of professionals involvement And Care most of the time the

family cannot cope will be this will be a challenging job.

The client may have sores that do not heal very well and at times

they might lose limbs due to this illness.

As a registered mental health nurse, the focus is more on the

nursing side, which takes a lot of dedication and time to have

experience and to be qualified. These studies were done at the

University of Wolverhampton and the other studies , that always

stick to your mind. Which I did, and I am proud although it was

hard, but I did it.

PREFACE

Leaving my children behind was very difficult as my mother

never left us she was always there and made sure we had enough

food. I wanted my children to be with me all the time and have

good education.

As they were young to be left but I was struggling there were not

much job available and with no qualifications that was hard.

Most of the jobs available where working as a domestic servant,

even though there also not easy to get This could help pay for

essential e.g. food and etc. This money was not enough to pay

anything else.

Bulawayo I managed to get a jobs and I was leaving on my own

then and raised enough to pay rent in a place I lived one room

which I could cook had a two plate stove the very same room is

the very same room I could use a kitchen, Some of my relatives

visited me there and we all shared that small room how time

flies it was around 1986 that time I had saved money to go back

to Harare and bring my children back with me. After I had done

few trips to Harare which were not fruitful until I got the police

involved I was scared of him., to try and bring my children back

to my mother land Bulawayo/Zimbabwe where I was living at

that time I had a job, which was not easy to get even as a

domestic servant. But I was able to get a job as a Chamber

Maid which is in My Beloved Mother Maria book in details.

The downside of my life is that that I did not get a better

education, like going to get secondary school and studying for

GCSEs. This includes money issues, as I had no savings under

my name, let alone a bank card, a luxury which I have now.

I have travelled from Africa, to Greece, and then to England,

working not on holidays to be precise. These books are based

factual event, and the pain of my own struggles in life

My Dearest Mother Maria book is the First Edition and has all

the details of my past, schooling and how it was when I was a

girl, this including my attendance of this primary school this

was quite far to walk the classes was until grade seven I am sure

how any children attended but it was a lot and I used see them

during the assembly we My Dearest Mother Maria the book has

made want me to write another book, where is Justice for

Blessed, ere we all stood in a line according to our grades and

sang together

These classrooms were built of mud bricks. They not even have

doors every Friday girls after school were supposed to clean the

classroom and leave them clean for Monday and it would carry

on like this .

There was a field at school, and it was there that we were learnt

about agriculture. I remember when I was bitten by a scorpion on

my foot. I felt a sting and then pain followed. I started running

towards the school and when got there I went into the classroom

crying. I was laid on top a desk kicking and screaming my lungs

out. I was in agony every student from different villages returned

from this field when they got back the teacher decided to let all

the children from my village to carry me back home as I could

not walk,

None of the teachers had cars the buses did not run frequently

the only option that was available that time was the children

from my village to carry me on their backs till to they reached

my village it was far, on the way to the village they took urns I

could not even put my foot down or limp, I was in agony they

did not manage to carry me far I fainted it was very hot I just

wanted cold water, so they decided to go another teacher house

to get cold water used to teach younger children she was one of

the teachers who was not living in the school grounds when we

got there I Just wanted to lie on cemented floor and I did I was

given water to drink but could not swallow as my throat was

tingling and painful there was no painkillers.

We had to leave heading to my village there were so many stops

on the way as it was a distance from the village to school finally,

93

the kids from the village who were attending the same school

became my transport as we did not have any buses or cars that

run frequently even the teachers did not have cars to give me a

lift home carried by other children by means of caring me by

their back/ (piggy back) it was a long journey any did this in

turns when they could not carry me anymore they left in one of the villages where I found my mother, when she went there after that episode with my father which is my First Edition she was a very kind women and did the same now going home where my mother was I stayed at home for few weeks.

As my fist Edition has its own story to tell it was this book that

drove me to write and I remember when I started, I used carry

piles and piles of paper in a plastic so that I don't lose them I

knew one day I will do something this was my decision

In Africa where I grew up, there were no secondary schools—

only primary schools.

Most of my education I got it from United Kingdom, and I am

ever so grateful for this. This opportunity I took it and went to do

my nurse training in 2003 and then as a Qualified Mental Health

Nurse in 2006. My parents could not afford to send me for

higher education. They did not have any money. I was girl living

in a village and now I had turned into this woman, who has been

blessed with my own children. They slept in my womb for nine

months and I breast fed them. I made sure they went to school.

I have written two books which are now available globally. I am

of proud of them as I wrote them from my heart. I know at times

tide was against me the timing ,etc, etc and working at the same

was challenging I needed to find time to sit down and focus on

these books and write, but I was eager, and I knew there are

greater opportunities available for me to reach and I have the,

this was difficult especially when I was at work, the clients came

first and the break two hours was not enough I am not a fast

typing person but I did my books whole heartly.

Oxford

Oxford is a very nice place Oxford has so much to offer

University and a lot of shopping areas which have currency been

built there is big library in West Gate. Where I reside,

In the beginning it was about my mama, the person who brought

me into this world. (MY MOTHER MARIA)

I needed to write a book but did not know when to start? Then

one day when I was at work, I started writing a book, in 2020 at

work this was especially for my grandchildren as there will be

time when I won't be here, I will not be able to answer any

questions, this is for them to remember me, what I have did in

the past and now to inspire them.

I used to tell them fairy tales when I had a chance but due to

work commitments made it difficult at times.

They are grown up now and I am proud of each one of them.

There would be the time when the good Lord has called me, and

hoping I will be able to see my mother again my ambition and

driving force is even one is a single parent you can archive a lot

by putting your mind into it and becoming an author not

overnight.

I have been a very ambitious person and people have mentioned

this to me. I believe the sky is the limit for me now and my

destiny and only destiny is known by the Lord above.

My second edition, Where is Justice for Blessed are both books

which were written by me, and it was not easy as I did these

books living in someone house doing my job as a live in carer.

The time is limited and my concentration in basically marked in

a scale of zero giving a personal care, housekeeping preparing

meals and cleaning, the house the list is endless. At times there

could be hospital appointments. Or travelling with a client as

well as medication that needs to be picked up from the pharmacy

Some clients have cars and it's a bonus if you could drive both.

I am very proud of both books, which I believe is a massive

achievement from nursing, and then to do a live in carer job

which is to go and live with someone in their Especially my

Beloved mother Maria who even now miss her, she was my

mother and I her daughter, witing these books are for my

grandchild and the others that will follow, as there will be time

when I will not be able to answer any questions to them.

From my first Edition my dearest mother Maria wring this book

was very emotional to me, I loved my mother till today she was

my mother. (MAMA)

All by books are factual events my first Edition my Second and

third Edition,

which are factual.

My first Edition includes physical and verbal abuse which

surround my partner, when this happened there was a reminder

of my father towards my mother and me hence leaving my

partner, although the abuse was random with no triggers then

when I think of my mother now, I have realised how strong she

was and she very kind. Both books have been written from the

heart.

(if I try to translate into this in English terms (it's an arrow of a

women) This was priceless This what I used to see when I was

growing up and they used to have a name, and I used wonder

why? ( Umcilo wamakhosikhazi) which in English terms it's

called a rainbow.

The Lord above me is looking after me.

There is a moon that always shines and it gives me hope; when

shines above me it gives me peace and it calms me down, no

matter what challenges I will be facing.

It reminds me of Africa where would be so bright, we did not

have electricity just lamps burned by paraffin, which we bought

by the local shop.

My mother Maria who passed away peacefully in September

2002 was a very caring person. I have raised my children on my

own. Caring for somebody is not an easy job to do.

My life has a destiny for something, and I feel that maybe one

day I will find it, but for now I will keep going. Until the end of

me.

When this journey court case was finished few months later I

developed stammer I could pick the phone and I could hear who

was on the other side but I could not respond quick enough this

made feel lost to who I was This case became a nightmare, I was

constantly having bad dreams even if I read a lot it did not help

me After the court case was finished, I was on foodbank

handouts, even on benefit, briefly. Then started doing various

courses still in care to again more experience as live in carer not

a Registered Mental Health Nurse and now working as alive in

carer.

THE TIME HAS COME TO VISIT MY MOTHER WHERE

SHE IS LAYING IN HER RESTING PLACE.

REST IN PEACE MAMA (LALANGOXOLO NTOMBI

KABABA) rest in peace I will always remember you until we

meet if we do (mama).

never imagined this happening to me, and they are available

through PUSH PUBLICATION. This company has helped me a

projects.

BLURB My experience with the law has driven me to write this

book. Based on issues I have endeavour past and current, some

of the issues mentioned in this are sad as well as happy

memories that I have achieved, some are when I am at my

proudest attending the University of Wolverhampton and being

called a student nurse mentor. As a woman who could dig the

stoney ground with bare hand and no tools to get herself through

the barbered wire, cutting deep into her skin with blood

dripping from her legs, and managed to get out. walked around

bare I would like to thank my daughter for being there for me

when I needed her the most. Gwyneth my child.

Hence writing these book
