Chapter 1 - One Must Ply

The twin moons light is bright upon the city of Lychway, the red and blue shine rays color the streets of the city in an amuzing view in this day, today was the 8th of March, it is the 1798 year after the killing wars, and remarkably today also happens to be the same date of the day that Lychway had survived the last wave of attacks back then.

Today was also the 1st day in Eleanora's initiation into the vampire society. As every new vampire initiate goes through a couple of tests and trainings by their sire, but Eleanora takes her task directly from the well known Council due her special condition.

Eleanora had awaken into her vampire powers only few nights ago, as the new member of the Mirals family she is supposed to be taught by the family father or an older sibling, but alas...

In this tumultuous time, the Blood Council has taken Eleanora under its wing, giving her a free place to stay and stable income of coins as well as making her the protege of their ancient and powerful society.

To establish herself and prove her place among the other vampires she must prove her worth to the council.

Lord Savant, one of the esteemed Elders of the Blood Council, has been appointed as her Mentor and handler, however he was not attending the meeting in person that day, a servent of his was covering his place. He will guide her through the intricacies of vampire society and trails that lie ahead. Follow his orders she must, diligently, and complete the tasks he assigns, and make herself indispensable to the Council.

Only then can Eleanora hope to carve out a place for herself in this dark and unforgiving world.

At the former night, Eleanora was tasked directly from the Council Elders to head to the Black Marsh, a place that lies north-west from Lychway city and notably far from the city, a place devastated by the chemical waste of Lychway labs and beset by all manner of dangerous creatures, this marsh is a harsh place where only the toughest can survive, let alone thrive, but it is also known for being filled with human rebellion parties ready to ambush unsuspecting young vampires, but after the rebellion been devastatingly defeated by the security officers of Lychway couple years ago the only thing left is small embers, however those embers still smolder, and thats why Eleanora was sent there, to extinguish these embers before it grows into a large fire.

Today, Eleanora have reached the Black Marsh, she found a safe place to rest and as she started to lean on a tree a loud sound of numerous flabing wings gets closer. Eleanora gets into a defensive position and start looking around carefully, the sound came from a bat swarm exactly above her, however soon enough the swarm breaks and scatters only to reveal a large sized bat that starts descending near her spot.

Before she could act and with a purple fog the hug bat transforms into a figure hidden in a crimson robes and a hood, they were glittering due to the golden lines and scribbles on it, which made it very clear that this person belonged to high authority of some kind, Eleanora lowers her guard as she acknowledge her place and not to mention the high pressure coming from this person, a pressure only can come from an Elder vampire, she simply waits for the figure to act, not wanting to give any wrong impressions or ideas, soon enough the figure lowers his hood to reveal his face and start approaching her casually while crossing his hands.

"Good evening, fledgling. I trust you are well."

The vampire had a scare on his right eye but it didnt affect the functionality of the eye it self, as they both glow in red as he stares at Eleanora, exuding an aura of someone who is accustomed to being in authority.

"My name is Savant, the acting Lord Regent of the Blood Council, and I will be your handler for the duration of your initiation into the vampire society of Lychway."

It is a nice move that he has come in person to meet Eleanora and lead her, however he did not show any emotion neither in his words nor in his face.

"I have heard of your sire's fate... such a tragic affair."

He says the words with an air of honest regret, albeit one that doesnt quite reach his eyes.

"But fret not, you are in good hands! The Council takes care of its own kind, just as we take care of mortals of our nocturnal domain. Ah, Mortals... they can be so troublesome, wouldnt you agree? So fragile, so fleeting, yet so full of fire. In their short-lived, zealous existance, they often fail to see the bigger picture. Which brings me to the purpose of my visit-- your first assignment, and a test of your skills."

He steps closer and his face gets more serious.

"As you are aware, the latest mortal rebellion against the Council have been quelled, yet its embers smolder still." His face takes on a thoughtful expression. "We have learned that a group of rebels, remnants of the failed uprising, continue to conspire against our rule. Their leader, an upstart minor noble known only as the 'Duke', is a charismatic and a cunning man who has evaded our grasp for too long. Look for the Duke's hideout and deal with any rebels you encounter along the way."

He put on his hood, aparently he is about to leave, but suddenly come to a stop and glance back at Eleanora.

"Oh, and fledgling..." he say's as if remembering something important.

"While out there in the wilds, keep your eye open for the local creatures of the marsh, humans are not the only threat to you out here, and make sure not to get in the way of the basilisk, the main predator of the marsh can easily feast on fledgling vampires like yourself. Now go forth, young one."

As he starts to walk away from Eleanora, she speaks up, confused.

"Hold on lord Savant, thats it?"

Savant raise his hand and waves it while he keep walking further, and then he shouts out his last words from the distance.

"May your fangs strike true fledgling!"

From the distance, the stunned Eleanora watches Savant transforms again to his huge bat form and a swarm of bats gather along with him as he starts flying far away in the direction of Lychway.

"So, they sent me of to catch an escaped criminal who hides in this march just like a security dog... well, at least I am after an important criminal... but I will need to strengthen myself along the way, the two spells Master Miral taught me surely wont be suitable for all the ordeals I am about to face in here. Well, what am I waiting for, lets start the practical practice!"

She start walking towards the Marsh, prepared to get attacked any second either by sneaky creatures of the marsh or rebels ambush. After all, one must ply.
