The Golden dragon's face began to scrunch a sign that Ragnar was about to wake up, "This red head is too troublesome," he muttered under his breath while opening his eyes to look around. Seeing his room, he pushed himself up off the floor looking down on his broken bed.
"Yeah, I'm going to get my butt chewed out for sure," he thought, sighing in dejection. He was already drained from flying around in the conscious space with Jean, and now he had to face his parents wrath.
Then like instinct Ragnar began to shapeshift back into a human form. But now his real body was a dragon, as his golden scales recede while his snout began to shirk as his wings began to disappear and finally Ragnar became a human again, yet the difference before he became a dragon, now he had a golden horn on his forehead and his eyes turn golden with slit pupils.
Then Ragnar felt his senses were stronger than before as he clenched and unclenched his fist repeatedly testing his strength, then he turned around looking outside, noticing that his door was fully open as he heard hurried footsteps climbing the stairs.
"Oh my god, you're fine!" Sicilia exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement and her filled with tears. She rushed to Ragnar, crouching in front of him and pulling him into a tight embrace. "It's good, it's good you're fine," she whispered, her voice trembling.
"You got a lot of explaining to do, boy," Elliot said after having a sigh of relief seeing his son fine, before crossing his arms with narrowed eyes looking at his son with scrutiny.
"I know, I'm sorry," Ragnar said as he hugged his mother while burying his face on her neck, he knew he was in the wrong.
"Let me look at you," Sicilia said, wiping her tears away and pushing Ragnar slightly back. She carefully examined his horn, her eyes lingering on his golden eyes as she caressed his cheek.
"What happened to you? Why did you become like that?" Sicilia knew it was impossible for Ragnar to suddenly become a full dragon without something triggering him.
Ragnar looked at his mother and then at his father. He knew they loved him. He clenched his fist, deciding to tell them about the chat group.
Sicilia and Elliot exchanged a concerned glance, noticing Ragnar's troubled expression. Worried about their son, Elliot moved towards Ragnar, crouching beside Sicilia.
"You know, you can tell us anything, right son? We will be here for you," Elliot said as he touched Ragnar's horn, "but if you kept secrets like this we couldn't help you, we three are the only family we got left, so we helped each other," Elliot then patted Ragnar on his head.
"And your mother will continue to cry if something happens to you, you know that right bud?" Elliot asked with a wry smile playing on his lips. He wanted his son to open up to them, then he felt waist being pinch and twisted but Elliot kept smiling as if he hadn't notice.
But inside Elliot was praying, 'Don't scream like a girl, In front of your son Elliot, take it like a man,' he thought to himself as he tried to ignore his wife.
While Sicilia just smiled at Ragnar as she held his hand while her other hand gave Elliot waist a final twist before letting go as she held both of Ragnar's hands making him focus on her.
"It's fine to have secrets, but if something happened to you, I couldn't forgive myself, can you tell mommy what happened?" Sicilia asked hopefully, although she hates to pry on her son, but she didn't want to risk if there are next time like that, 'What if he won't know us when he becomes a dragon again,' 'What if he didn't shift back into a human again,' these thoughts kept playing in her mind, she need to know if her son was gonna be okay.
"I…" Ragnar knew it was better to keep his secret, but what was the point? If the system was only going to hold him back, it wasn't worth it. "I didn't only awaken my powers in the accident," he said, his head lowered. Though he had decided to tell his parents, he didn't know if they'd believe him.
"And?" Sicilia asked as she and Elliot shared a look of doubt.
"I awakened something that helps me. It's called a chat group system." Ragnar looked up, his eyes shining with newfound hope as he looked at his parents. He found the courage to tell them. Maybe he could even tell the future to his parents, using the chat group system as an excuse.
"Chat group?" Elliot asked as he felt a question mark growing on the top of his head, although he was a middle aged man he knew about a chat group in phones and computers but why would that appear in his son's mind, He looked at his wife, silently urging her to check on their son's mind.
Sicilia bit her lips but she too felt Ragnar's story is unbelievable as well, she tried to peer into Ragnar's mind but now Ragnar was awake and as a psychic himself, he sensed the intrusion.
"Mom, did you just try to get in my mind without permission?" Ragnar asked with a frown although he understood why she did it, it doesn't mean he would like it.
"I know it's bad, but what you're saying is too shocking. I'm sorry, okay?" Sicilia said, rushing to soothe him, holding him tightly.
"Hmm, I don't want too, if you don't bake my apple pie," Ragnar said huffing as he turned his head, he knew his mother had tried to peek into his mind out of love for him.
"It's already been done. It's waiting for you," Sicilia said, smiling happily and kissing her son on the cheek.
"Ahem," Elliot coughed, interrupting their mother-son bonding. "Okay, I hate to disturb your little moment, but can you tell us more about this chat group and most importantly who you're talking to?" Sicilia shot him a glare, but Elliot just tried to ignore her.
"At first it awakened two X-Gene in me, and then mixing it into two made me stronger," Ragnar said explaining why he was different to his parents. "Then it kept giving me missions,"
Sicilia and Elliot eyes widened as they didn't think that the chat group was the reason that would allow Ragnar to have both of their abilities, then they focused intently on the word 'missions'.
"What mission? Is it dangerous? Are you being forced?" Sicilia asked urgently, looking at her son with worry, fearing he would get hurt.
"No, it said it depends on me if I want to do it," Ragnar said, shaking his head to comfort his mother. "It detects destinies, like helping the girl in the car to block Professor X's powers."
Sicilia and Elliot froze. They knew who Professor X was. As the leader of the X-Men, no mutant, even those living in a farmhouse like themselves, would be unaware of him.
They knew how powerful he was, a telepath capable of connecting to anyone in the world.
"Then I completed it, so it gave me a reward—completely turning into a dragon," Ragnar said seriously, trying to convince his parents.
"How did you even do that?" Elliot asked, his voice filled with surprise, looking at his son. He couldn't believe this little munchkin in front of him could block someone like Professor X.
Ragnar sighed, preparing to explain to his father.
Sicilia, however, already knew the answer. "The Golden Psionic energy, that's why it flew to the car," she thought, remembering what had happened. Then her eyes narrowed. She felt something was wrong with Ragnar's explanation.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute," Sicilia said as she pushed Elliot to the side, making him hold his chest, acting like he was hurt.
"The reward allows you to be a dragon right, not to completely become a dragon that's two different things, honey," Sicilia said hopefully thinking Ragnar was just confused or even didn't think clearly before talking as she didn't want her son to become a dragon, although she can accept him she still prefer her son staying as a human.
Ragnar looked down at his arms, using his identification ability on himself.
[Ragnar Haddock: Dragon]
Strength: 10
Agility: 10
Spirit: 20
Powers: Shapeshift, Telepathy, Psion Energy, Psion Energy Control, Dragon Breath
"Yeah, I'm sure I'm a dragon," Ragnar said as he looked at the changes in his status, his race changed from a mutant into a dragon and his strength and agility was a force of 10 peak humans combined. 'What can the soul do?' Ragnar asked the system, remembering he had only two souls before but now he had more than he could imagine.
[The stronger the soul the more immune and stronger you are in telepathy, and the stronger the soul the stronger the durability making you more immune from soul attacks like magic]
'Yeah, that's good,' Ragnar thought, pleased. He didn't want anyone reading his mind, not even his mother. And at the same time he didn't want his soul to get pushed out of his body when sorcerers attacked him.
"What are you doing? How are you sure?" Sicilia asks seeing her son movement, while trembling when she hears her son confirm he wasn't human.
"The system gave me the ability to identify anything," Ragnar said as he raise he head and saw his mother trembling, as he thought of what Jean said to him in the conscious space where her father hated her because of her powers.
"Mom, do you hate me now?" Ragnar asked, his voice filled with anxiety. He lowered his head, clutching his mother's clothes tightly.
"I–" Sicilia was about to say an excuse that she just wanted him to stay human when she felt her clothes being pulled as she looked down, "No, of course not, no matter what you are or how old you are, you're always be my baby," Sicilia said softly as she kiss her son on the forehead while caressing his back comforting him lovingly.
'What about me?' Elliot asked himself as he looked at his wife and son that was hugging when he noticed his wife glaring at him, before mouthing, 'Get in here' making him smile as he hugged them both tightly in his arms.
The warmth of their family huddled, their unspoken love, helped to quell the anxieties that were bubbling up within Ragnar. While his parents were still reeling from the news of his transformation, the fact that they still loved and accepted him gave him a sense of peace.
