The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the bustling streets as Zazm sauntered out of the school building, his backpack slung carelessly over one shoulder. He stretched, feeling the weight of the day lift off him like a heavy cloak.
The chatter of students faded into the background as he spotted Jahanox leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, a slight frown etched on his face.
"Yoo! whatcha doing? What's with the serious face? You look like you just solved a differential equation or something," Zazm teased, a playful grin spreading across his face.
Jahanox rolled his eyes, but a hint of a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "Very funny, and how does your mind always towards equations and stuff?Anyways, My parents want you to come over for dinner tonight."
Zazm raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise. "Dinner? You mean your parents are actually inviting me again? What's the occasion? Did they find out I've been living off takeouts?"
"Something like that," Jahanox replied, his tone lightening. "They're worried about you. You know how they are."
Zazm shrugged, a carefree smile still plastered on his face. "I can't help it if I prefer the culinary delights of the local fast-food joint over home-cooked meals." He paused for a second before continuing.
But sure, I'll come. Denying a free dinner invitation? Not my style. Just don't make me eat anything weird like the last time."
As they walked to Jahanox's house, the two friends bantered back and forth, their laughter echoing through the quiet neighborhood.
'I guess I have to leave history for tomorrow, now. Well, nothing I can do about it' Zazm thought in his head, about his new resolve or ex-resolve now.
Dinner at the Nova household was always a lively affair. Jahanox's mother, a warm and welcoming woman, had a knack for turning even the simplest meals into a feast.
As they sat around the table, Zazm dug into the homemade food, savoring every bite. He could feel the warmth of the family atmosphere wrapping around him, a stark contrast to the solitude of his own home.
"Zazm, how have you been." Jahanox's father asked his tone heavy and filled with concern.
"Me? I'm completely fine" Zazm replied while stuffing the food, that carefree air filling the atmosphere.
"You know you are free to stop by for dinner, anytime. You can't just live on takeouts and deliveries, they aren't even healthy."
"Ahh... Don't worry, I've also decided to learn how to cook. I'll make sure to take care more, now." Zazm said with that same carefree smile.
Jahanox who was silently listening to the conversation up until now looked at Zazm with a surprised face, "Didn't you said the same thing last year?"
"Yeah well....." Zazm shot him a glare and Jahanox innocently shifted his gaze back to the food.
After dinner, Zazm bid farewell to Jahanox and his family, stepping out into the cool night air. He turned to wave, but paused when he heard Jahanox's voice behind him.
"Hey, Zazm!" Jahanox called, his tone suddenly serious. "You know, I really wish you'd focus more on your studies. It's frustrating to see you waste your potential."
Zazm chuckled, shaking his head. "You worry too much, Nox. I'm doing just fine. And, I'm far more mature then you make me seem like."
Jahanox sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's not just that. My mom thinks you're a nice kid, but—"
"—but I'm a slacker," Zazm finished for him, a teasing glint in his eyes.
"I get it. But I promise, I'll ace other subjects this time aswell, this time I've had a solid resolve. That's all that matters, right?"
Jahanox's mother appeared at the door, her expression softening as she overheard their conversation.
"Let him be, Jahanox. Zazm may seem carefree, but he has a good heart. Isn't that how you two became friends in the first place?"
Zazm smiled at her, feeling a warmth spread through him. "Exactly. I'm just here to keep Jahanox from being too serious all the time."
After he started leaving for his house, his thoughts drifted back to the first time he met Nox. 'Hmm if I'm not wrong it was back when I was 7'

Zazm Mystic had lived a life different to any normal kid. Both of his parents were mathematicians, they were always busy with their work.
And whenever they came back home they were simply either indulged in books or writing equations on paper.
He grew alone and distant from others when he became 4 he started going to a daycare center, their driver drove him their every morning and picked him in the evening.
Zazm didn't liked being surrounded by kids. Although, he tried to talk to others, he simply wasn't good at it and was often left out.
It was just another day, Zazm was sitting in a corner when his gaze shifted toward a book lying on the shelf. He was only 5 but he knew how to read. He liked to read story books and he always had fun reading them.
He picked up the book and took a look at the title, 'Chronicles of a Space Bender' he curiously picked the book up and started reading it.
The more he read the more he was unable to understand what was going on about. Yet, he continued to read until a voice interrupted him. "Oh~ You found my book for me, Zazm"
"Miss Ema..." Zazm got startled by her suddenly appearing behind him, "I'm sorry, I didn't knew it was yours.... I was just curious." He said in a low voice.
"Haha... It isn't mine, one of my friends gave it to me. I'm not a fan of these weird superpowers novels. But..... Do you like them?"
Ema was aware that Zazm liked to read books. Afterall, she was one of the caretakers and had to look after all kids.
"I can't understand things in this book.." Zazm looked at Eva in a confused way. Eva looked at Zazm and when she saw his eyes glowing she replied
"It's about a boy, he has powers to rule reality. He can freeze time, he can teleport and he can even create things out of nowhere."
"What? What is teleport? And how can he create things out of nowhere?" Zazm was genuinely shocked by all this.
"Teleport means to disappear from one place and instantly appear at another as for how can he create things.Well, its a story anything is possible" Ema simply shrugged sitting beside Zazm.
"Wow! Disappearing from place and appearing in another sounds....cool. But it is only possible in stories." Zazm said looking down in a disappointed way.
"Nope, there are some theories that say that teleportation is possible and even creating things from nowhere. If you wanna read them, I guess I can help you."
"Yes, yes please...." Zazm said in an excited tone.
The next day Ema went to Zazm and started reading him a book that described that concept of teleportation. Unlike other kids who would've faced difficulty or could've got bored.
Zazm understood it and continued to ask her questions. This cycle continued everyday Ema will bring different books and will explain them to Zazm.
He had also developed interest in maths because of this. Since, maths is the language of universe and nothing is possible in universe without it. He decided to learn it aswell.
Time flew by and he turned 8. Kids his age found it hard to do multiplication and division but Zazm could easily solve quadratic and even other complex things.
Upon seeing his growing interest his parents hired a tutor for him to help him understand these things in a better way.
