Stella's POV:
Waking up, my head was pounding and one of the first things I realized was I was in a man's bedroom. I gently sat up in the bed, realizing the cologne smell of the man covering the blankets and sheets that I was lying with. As I was attempting to regain my memory from last night, everything flooded back. I took out the trash, saw the raccoon, and then got poked in the neck by something.
But, how did I end up in this room?
I realized that I had nothing holding me to the bed, which was shocking. Wait, was I kidnapped?
But if I was kidnapped, then why aren't I chained down or something? And also, why am I in a bedroom? Shouldn't I be in a dungeon or something?
I decided to slowly stand up, my head still pounding. I was still wearing the same clothes I had last night, thank god. I slowly made my way to the door so I could get out of this strange house as fast as I could, but just my luck, the door was locked.
I took a deep breath in defeat before my eyes found the window. My mind was coming up with different scenarios that could happen as I slowly made my way towards the window. None of the thoughts going through my head were positive, but this seemed to be my only exit.
I looked out the window to find I was only on the second floor. I noticed trees all around the house, where as far as I could see. I gave myself one more mental pep talk to boost my positive thoughts and carefully opened the window before I slowly and carefully slipped one leg out, and then the other, and then I slipped my body through the window before I was temporarily falling.
As soon as I hit the ground, I winced in pain, feeling the shock from the ground in my legs. I shook off the pain before I quickly made my way towards the forest, hoping I'd be able to get out.
I was pretty good at directions during Girl Scouts, maybe that'll come in handy in this situation.
Before I got too deep in the forest, I noticed a very familiar truck in the driveway. Wait, is that... No, it couldn't be. Ezra's truck? Why is he here?
I shake off the feeling of betrayal before I head deeper into the forest, hoping to death that I make it out safely. What a horrible time to wear such a revealing outfit. Branches were scratching me and my feet hurt like hell.
Despite all of the pain, I just kept running, hoping to escape. My confidence was slowly losing and I was beginning to think that maybe I was completely lost. All of these trees seemed the same and I felt like I was going in circles.
____
I've been lost in this forest for a while, scratches all over my face, legs, and arms. I finally breathe in defeat as I slowly slide my back down a tree trunk before my butt gently hits the ground.
As a tear slips from my eye, I hear a car alarm going off. My eyes widen in hope as I quickly stand up and make my way towards the horn.
"Thank the lords," I say as I approach a familiar road. I followed it quickly as I finally knew where I was going. My house was a little bit away from here.
____
Finally, I step into my house and immediately lock the door. I ran around the house, making sure all of our windows were locked and all of the doors that head outside (including our garage) were locked. I have a feeling that those kidnappers are going to be back to get me soon.
I looked at the time to find that school had already begun and I breathed in heavily. I was a little terrified now. Only one thing... well two things that I need to do. 1: Call my mom to see if I can drive. And 2: Call the police.
As I find my phone, I immediately grab it and find my mom's contact.
"Hey sweetie," She says, seeming to be happy that I called. "How are you?" She asks.
"Hey Mom," I tell her, relieved to hear her voice. "I was just wondering if I can drive the car while you're gone," I tell her. I debate on whether to tell her about the kidnapping, but immediately feel guilty for almost ruining her time on her job trip or whatever.
"Um, I guess," She says and I can just imagine her shrugging her shoulders. "Just make sure to drive safely, okay?" She asks. "And I love you, Stella," She finishes. Before I'm able to respond, she hangs up her phone.
I decide to go upstairs to clean up the scratches on my skin before getting dressed into something a little more appropriate. I choose a pair of blue high-waisted jeans before I grab my dinosaur crop top and my slip-on vans. I found the keys to my mom's car and made sure I had my phone before stepping out of our house and locking it behind me. I quickly made my way to the car before quickly getting in and locking the car doors as I started it.
I took a breath as I still hadn't noticed anyone following me. I immediately went to the police station before pretty much running into the station. The woman at the desk looks at me with worry before she notices the slight fear in my eyes.
"Can I help you?" She asks.
"I got kidnapped," I told her. Her eyes widened before she looked around.
"Then how are you here?" She asked. I looked at her confusedly.
"If you were kidnapped, then how are you here?" She says in a duh tone.
"I got away," I tell her. "I ran away and I don't know who did it, but I know where the house is and-" Before I could continue, she cut me off.
"Hold on dear," She says, answering the ringing phone. "Darrian!" She calls another officer. "It's for you," She tells him.
"It's Chief," He tells her, referring to his name. So he runs this place?
"Whatever," She rolls her eyes before looking at me again. "What were we talking about?" She asks before her eyes widen in remembrance. "Oh yes, kidnapping," She says. "Just fill out these forms," She tells me, handing me some papers. "When you're finished, or if you have any questions, please let me know," She tells me before putting her attention back on her computer.
I began to fill out the papers before I noticed that the rest of the questions were about the kidnapper's identity and what they drove and stuff. I mean, I guess I could always put Ezra's truck in the description, but what if he didn't even know about the kidnapping? He didn't seem like a kidnapper when I was hanging out with him at school. He seemed sweet.
"Excuse me," I get the officer's attention.
"Yes?" She asks, seeming to be annoyed at me.
"I just have some questions," I tell her. I bring the form up to where she can see. "These questions about the identity of my kidnappers, I can't answer. I didn't see my kidnapper's face or what they drove. They stabbed me with something in the neck, then the next thing I knew, I was in some guy's bed with the door locked. And as soon as I got out of the house, I ran away to protect myself. Their house was surrounded by so many trees. It was like a forest around their house and I'm lucky to have gotten out safely," I explain to her. She still seemed annoyed.
"I have to make a call. But if you can't answer those questions, then I'm sorry to inform you dear, but we can't help you," She tells me.
"You're kidding right?" I ask, anger clear in my voice.
"Sorry dear, but I hope you stay safe. Now excuse me, I have to make a call," She waves me off rudely before I angrily stomp out of the police station and to the car. I cannot believe that. They can't help me? What the hell?
