Darkness everywhere is all there was. Sirens played their tones in my head and flashing lights beamed over me.
Strangers speaking to me, but I couldn't speak, all I could do was close my eyes and hope this nightmare would end. My body felt like a total disaster and I didn't want to move. Why won't this nightmare end?A stranger that looked so similar but so different flashed in my head before I officially let my eyes shut fully.
Stranger's POV:
Shouldn't have been texting and driving. Shit. Now a girl is lying on the ground, completely injured. The sirens of the ambulance and police vehicles surrounded us. Damn.
"Excuse me, sir," A police officer comes up to me. "Do you know this girl?" He asks.
"Um, no. I was just driving and she ended up surprising me from nowhere," I tell him the somewhat truth.
"Well, I'd like for you to meet us at the hospital, just so we can get all of this setup," He says.
"I shall. I'm so sorry about this," I tell him, feeling my guilt eating me up. Following the ambulance to the hospital was nerve-racking. I never really liked hospitals, many people who I have known have passed in them.
As soon as we arrived, I followed the nurses as they took the girl into the ER and hooked her up to some machines. Before I was able to step into the room, one of the nurses pushed me out and said "Family only," that's when I sat in one of the waiting chairs, putting my face in my hands as I let my stress and guilt run through my head.
Thirty minutes to an hour later, I hear a woman in nurse clothes screaming and running towards the girl's room. As soon as I looked up, I saw the familiar face and my eyes widened in shock. She didn't seem to notice as she burst into the room with tears in her eyes and screaming a name. I stood up, following the familiar woman to the room.
"Hey, Bryn," I tell her. Her eyes meet mine before she comes up and starts yelling at me angrily.
"What did you do?" She screams. "Why are you here?" She continues. As she continued to yell questions at me, I stared at the girl and noticed all the wires connected to her.
"Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to," I tell her.
"Sir, can you tell us exactly what happened?" A police officer walks up to me. "Ma'am, can you give us a little space," He tells Bryn.
"I ain't going anywhere. This is my daughter and I deserve to know exactly what happened," Bryn tells the officer while giving me angry eyes.
"She's fine officer," I blow out a little bit. "What had happened was I wasn't paying very good attention to the road as I was driving when suddenly and so quickly, she stepped in front of my vehicle without seeming to notice and I ended up hitting her." I tell him.
Bryn's expression went from angry to extremely furious.
"How dare you do this!" She screams while beginning to hit me with her palms. The officer pulls her away from me while another officer walks up to me.
"While we are waiting, I will need to see your license and registration, and of course, you will be getting a very big ticket for what you have done," The officer explains. "We would like you to stay here, at the ER, until we have figured out all of the things we need to," The officer finishes.
"Of course," I tell him. "My registration is in my vehicle," I explain to him.
"I will follow you out so we can get that then," He says.
As we make our way to my vehicle, I think of how awful this situation is. I mean I couldn't be more apologetic. I was a pinky away from killing a girl today. Not just any girl though... my daughter.
"Is this your vehicle?" The officer asks, taking me out of my thoughts.
"Yes," I tell him before opening the passenger side door and grabbing my registration and insurance out of the glove compartment. "Here is my registration and proof of insurance," I hand him the slips of paper.
"Okay, and your driver's license?" He asks. I grab my wallet out of my back pocket before handing him my driver's license. "Okay, this might take a minute, do you mind following me back into the Hospital?" He asks.
"Of course not," I say, following him. Sitting back down in the waiting chair, I covered my face with my hands and allowed my mind to race with the many possibilities that could happen in this situation.
