As soon as the call for disbanding came, everyone started looking for their opponents.
Just as Karl was still unsure who to fight, Zhang Zewei's voice rang out, "Sister Buxie, come on! Let's fight!"
"Okay!" After receiving her reply, Wei Ge turned to Karl with a grin, not forgetting his good buddy.
"Karl! Come and watch the match! Let me help you vent your anger!"
Hearing Wei Ge's words, I felt a headache. How is this any of my business?
Sure enough, the next moment, I felt a murderous glare fall on me. I didn't need to ask. Sister Buxie had already decided I was the reason for this mess.
I had no choice but to bite the bullet and walk out.
"Go! Charmander!"
"Charrr~"
"Go! Eevee!"
"Eevee~"
Two panels appeared in front of me:
[Pokemon: Charmander]
Level: 7 (Novice)Moves: Growl, Scratch, Ember, SmokescreenInherited Moves: Dragon Dance, Outrage
[Pokemon: Eevee]
Level: 7 (Novice)Moves: Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, Covet, Helping Hand, Sand Attack, Quick AttackInherited Moves: Charm, Yawn, Wish
Wait a minute... Eevee has way more skills than Charmander! Can Wei Ge even win this?
"Charmander, use Growl!"
"Charrr~"
"Eevee, use Growl too!"
"Eevee~"
"Charmander, use Ember!"
"Eevee, use Yawn!"
The Ember attack hit Eevee squarely, making it cry out in pain, but the next moment, Yawn took effect on Charmander.
"Damn it!" Wei Ge shouted, seeing Charmander struggling to keep its eyes open. He quickly gave another command. "Charmander, use Smokescreen!"
Charmander spat out thick smoke, enveloping the battlefield and blocking Eevee's line of sight.
"Eevee, use Tail Whip!"
Eevee couldn't see Charmander, but Charmander could still see Eevee through the smoke.
"Charmander, don't look at Eevee!" Wei Ge tried to warn, but it was too late. Eevee's Tail Whip lowered Charmander's defense, and just as it did, Yawn put Charmander to sleep.
"Eevee, use Quick Attack and follow up with Covet!"
"Buii~" Eevee darted through the smoke, striking Charmander with a swift attack and following up with a powerful Covet.
With a loud "bang," Charmander was knocked out of the smoke and onto the ground.
"Charmander, wake up! You've got this!" Wei Ge shouted. Charmander stirred slightly, waking up from its slumber.
"Eevee, use Quick Attack!"
"Charmander, counter with Scratch!"
Both Pokémon collided mid-air, each recoiling from the impact.
"Eevee, use Charm!"
"Buiii~" Eevee cried out adorably, and Charmander's eyes turned into heart shapes.
"Charmander, snap out of it! What's so great about her Eevee? I'll find you a female Charmander later!" Wei Ge pleaded, but Charmander was completely captivated.
"Eevee, finish it with Covet!" With one final attack, Eevee knocked out Charmander.
"Return, Charmander!" Wei Ge said helplessly, recalling his Pokémon.
"Clap, clap, clap! Well done! A very exciting duel," came a voice.
"Teacher Che!"
"The timing of the Smokescreen was excellent, and Eevee's attack strategy was well executed," Teacher Che said, analyzing the match.
"Thank you, teacher," Sister Buxie replied with a polite nod.
"Take your Pokémon to the medical room for recovery. When you come back, I'll give you pointers on your mistakes, especially you," Teacher Che said, looking sternly at Wei Ge.
As they left, Karl was left alone, soon finding someone new to battle. Standing opposite him was Zhang Feng, who had been scolded earlier. Zhang Feng was a thin boy, while Ye Shiyi, who was with them, was a girl.
First, Zhang Feng sent out his Pokémon—a level 6 Spearow.
Karl, striking what he thought was a cool pose, threw out his Poké Ball. "Go, Pidgey!"
This was Karl's first battle.
[Ding! Task Triggered: First Battle!]
Task Requirements: Win the first battle.Rewards: Points x100, RMB x100,000, Reputation x100
"Tana, what's reputation used for?" Karl asked mentally.
[Ding! Reputation is used to upgrade the system.]
"Perfect! Pidgey, use Tackle!"
"Spearow, use Peck!"
The two Pokémon collided, and Spearow was knocked backward. The difference in levels was clear, with Karl's level 8 Pidgey having the upper hand.
Realizing a problem, Karl checked Pidgey's skill list. It only had Tackle! "Pidgey, use Gust!"
"What?!" Zhang Feng exclaimed. He hadn't expected Pidgey to learn Gust so early. Spearow, unable to react in time, was struck by Gust and knocked out.
[Ding! Congratulations on completing the task!]
Rewards: Points x100, RMB x100,000, Reputation x100
Suddenly, a gust of wind swirled around Pidgey. Karl's eyes widened as he realized Pidgey had learned a new move—Tailwind!
Excited, Karl quickly found another opponent with a level 6 Bellsprout and used Gust to secure another easy win. Afterward, he found an open space to practice Pidgey's Tailwind until the move was perfected.
After practice, Karl fed Pidgey an energy block and opened the Mall app to check for skill discs.
The list of available skill discs:
Air Slash: 300,000Protect: 200,000Steel Wing: 250,000Rapid Spin: 600,000Fly: 600,000
"Damn, these are expensive!" Karl muttered. Including the 100,000 RMB he just earned, he had 600,000 RMB total. The weekly expense for feeding his Pokémon was around 50,000 to 60,000 RMB.
Before deciding, he remembered he hadn't signed in for the day.
"Tana, sign in!"
[Ding! Congratulations! You received 10 Oran Berries.]
"Ugh, seriously?"
Just as Karl was processing his disappointment, Sister Buxie approached him.
"I want to challenge you!" she said arrogantly, clearly still upset about earlier.
"I've had enough battles today. Find someone else," Karl replied dismissively.
"Tomorrow, then. Don't forget," she declared, turning around and leaving.
