Chapter 1 - There is something strange: chapter 1

I woke up at the same time as always, washed my face, and worked out. Then I went outside, but there was no one around. I don't know if it's because it's morning, but really, there's nobody here; it's not a normal silence. It's calm, yet in a way, it's unsettling because this silence is not a good omen. It's something that has never happened in Turkey; it feels like the city has truly been abandoned. Could a second pandemic be on the way, or something worse...

I knocked on my neighbors' doors, but there was no answer. I thought about going to the market since there was nothing to eat at home. There was nobody in the market either. I grabbed some products and left because the market had been looted. The situation is getting progressively more terrifying. I felt a shiver down my spine.

On my way home, I heard an alarm, then an announcement: "Citizens who have not left the city, please evacuate within one hour; a great disaster is approaching." They mentioned a disaster, nothing more, and I was really curious what it could be...

Anyway, I prepared and set off. But they say we'll evacuate, where will we go? Why aren't they telling us this? It would be nice if someone in this country could explain things properly! Since I didn't have a large backpack, I filled a suitcase, and I took a first aid kit in my gym bag. I don't know how long the food will last; I didn't find anything substantial when I went to the market.

I heard sounds—gunfire, of all things. In a country, the most likely scenario we face is war. It could be either a civil or an international conflict. We used to say that if things continued like this, a civil war would break out, and now we've brought it to that point. As I was leaving the city, I saw a group that blocked the road. I couldn't see clearly, but they were either soldiers, police, or thugs. The closer I got, the clearer it became: yes, they were soldiers. All of them had their faces covered with masks, and they were heavily armed. There were six in total. They also had an armored vehicle with a heavy machine gun. They searched my car, checked me, and even took my temperature without explaining why.

I asked, "Why such a thorough search and why did you take my temperature?" The soldier replied: "We checked for any viral or bacterial infections; there's chaos in the country; anything can happen." The soldier was right; anything could happen because diseases mean more human loss and panic, leading to chaos.

They allowed me to pass, but there was no safe zone anywhere. I continued on the highway. However, I felt suspicious about something. I pulled my car aside and checked my bag. A few painkillers and some bandages were missing from my first aid kit.

I sensed it, but even if I realized it, I couldn't resist; they had the advantage in terms of weapons and numbers, and I had no weapon. I didn't have the strength to oppose them. They might not even have been soldiers... maybe they were a gang of looters.

I continued on my way and found a quiet place to set up a car camp. I locked the doors, had a meal, and then went to sleep.
